Annie, a medical doctor from London, receives a call from her mother who still lives in her childhood home in Ridgewater. Elliott, her older brother, who has been living in the Scottish Highlands for the last twelve years, has been in an accident.
He is paralyzed and hasn’t spoken a word since he was found at the foot of a cliff at Ridgewater Cove.
Fairy Cottage is her mother’s home, the only other property closed by is Sycamore House, who Annie believes looks like something out of a scary movie. There, used to live her friend, Giselle, until she died at the age of twelve. A homeschooled recluse girl who her mother believed she had a medical condition with sun exposure.
Kerry Brewster, from Sidney, comes to the area to look for her sister Fiona, who went missing twelve years ago and she discovers the last place she visited in her European tour is Ridgewater.
Let Me Out is a complex book that intertwines many stories of the people from the small town. Most of them keep dark secrets that will unravel in the jaw-dropping ending. The stories go back and forth but as complex as it is with many characters, you will never get confused. It’s a well crafted work and the best part is the atmosphere. Joan’s house is frightening.

Reading through some of the other reviews, I think I might be in the minority on this one. I thought this was a decent read but for me I think it had so many mysteries and plot lines that none of them were developed enough to be really gripping. I do think the ending wrapped things up nicely and some of the reveals surprised me. If you are a thriller fan I would still recommend checking this one out.

Thanks to Boldwood Books, Amanda Brittany and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This was a twisty thriller, there is alot of different years in this book and it was easy enough to follow. The plot was good and really liked the twists at the end. The book is full of secrets, lies and hidden truths that go back years. Annie returns to her hometown after any years, her best friend died and she couldn’t cope. Now back facing similar problems as her brother was found in a similar situation, but he’s barely alive. It’s a quick read that keeps you guessing. A 4 star read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

Many thanks to netgalley, the author and Boldwood books for approving my request to read this book.

For me this book was an absolute belter, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! I loved the creepiness factor in this book which is something I always enjoy in a good read. The plot was built up brilliantly throughout and the big reveal was excellently executed-for once I didn't see it coming and the various twists certainly kept me on my toes.

This book is an absolute must read for psychological thriller fans, trust me you won't want to miss it!

This book was quite the page turning. Annie finds out that her brother, Elliot is really injured. This leads her back home for the first time in over a decade to a place that is full of so many secrets. There are so many questions that you want answered as you read the book. I devoured this book so fast. Thank you Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the early access to read it. It was an amazing read!

If you love thrillers that keep you guessing until the final page, Let Me Out is a must-read. The story starts off a little slow as it sets the scene, but once it kicks in, it’s packed with twists, tension, and layered mysteries. At one point, I genuinely suspected everyone.

The final reveal completely blew me away—I never saw it coming, and I loved how the story kept delivering surprises right up to the end.

Told through multiple perspectives with short, bingeable chapters, it had real Never Lie-era Freida McFadden energy (not the recent stuff!).

I’m giving it 4.5 stars—mainly because of the slower start—but honestly, it might be the best thriller I’ve read this year. A must for fans of psychological thrillers that leave you reeling.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC!

I highly recommend this book! This was my first time reading a book by Amanda Brittany and will definitely not be my last! The twists and turns were continuous and the ending unforeseen. The author paints a whimsical picture of Ridgewater with its Fairy Cottage, the One Trick Pony, and the Sycamore House. However, Ridgewater also held mysterious deceptions of lies, secrets and murders among its people.

"Let me out" starts a little slow, with the main character Annie returning to her hometown whilst in the midst of a burnout and in sick leave as a doctor, to care after her brother who has fallen off a cliff and is - hopefully temporarily - paralysed and unable to communicate. Strange things starts happening as Annie reconnects with an old school friend who reveals a shocking secret to her, a burden she has carried all these years. In my opinion, the story could have been more developed - I thought the final revelation was a bit rushed, and there were maybe a little too much clues as to who did it - a little easy to find for me. It was still an enjoyable book with a good writing but not really edge of your seat material for me. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book!

Amanda Brittany’s Let Me Out is a gripping psychological thriller drenched in secrets and suspense. Annie has long avoided her hometown of Ridgewater after the tragic death of her childhood friend Giselle twelve years ago. But when her brother suffers an injury eerily similar to that fatal night, Annie is forced to confront the past she tried so hard to leave behind.

Returning to Ridgewater means facing Giselle’s unsettling mother and Natalie, another old friend obsessed with uncovering the truth. Their discovery of a missing girl from the same period deepens the mystery, casting doubt over the safety of Annie’s brother and the chilling possibility of a voice whispering ‘let me out’ from a locked door.

Brittany masterfully builds tension as buried family secrets surface and sinister forces threaten Annie’s very existence. This is a dark, atmospheric tale that keeps you guessing until the final page.

Let Me Out is hands down one of the most intense and emotionally powerful thrillers I’ve read in a long time. From the very first page, I was completely hooked, unable to put it down until I’d uncovered every dark secret lurking in Ridgewater.

Annie’s story felt raw and real—the kind of trauma that never truly leaves you, no matter how far you run. Her return to her hometown is full of tension and heartbreak, and I loved how the author balanced the mystery with deep character work. Annie’s fear, guilt, and determination all felt authentic, and I found myself rooting for her every step of the way.

The eerie atmosphere of Ridgewater was perfectly crafted—creepy neighbors, old wounds, and that chilling sense that something evil is hiding just beneath the surface. The addition of the missing girl’s story and the mysterious voice calling “let me out” added layers of suspense that kept me guessing until the very end.

The twists were smart and genuinely surprising, and the pacing was flawless—never dragging, always escalating the tension. Plus, the family dynamics were complex and added emotional weight to the unfolding horror.

If you love thrillers that combine psychological depth with a haunting, small-town mystery, Let Me Out should be at the top of your list. I’m still thinking about this one days later, and I can’t wait to read more from this author!

What an unhinged thriller!

Annie returns to her hometown of Ridgewater after her brother suffers a life-changing accident. In the past, she often prioritized her job and career over her family, only to realize recently that it hadn’t brought her the fulfillment she was seeking. Determined to make a change, she goes back to Fairy Cottage (her childhood home) surrounded by the Sycamore Woods, which hold more than one person’s darkest secrets. There, she must confront the past she thought she left behind.

”These woods are haunted…”

Amanda Brittany excels at setting the stage for an atmospheric read, and the Devon landscape, with its forests and coastlines, perfectly complements Annie’s story. At first, I struggled a little to connect with Annie, but once the story gained momentum, I grew to appreciate her caring nature and her strong determination to unravel the many mysteries surrounding Ridgewater and its residents.

”Get away from Ridgewater, Annie…”

The plot is well-layered and thoughtfully crafted. There are quite a few characters, each with their own storyline, yet it never becomes confusing. The story kept me guessing throughout. With so many secrets and unanswered questions, I was never quite sure where to focus my attention. At one point or another, I suspected almost everyone. Not all at once, of course, but I think every character landed on my suspect list as I raced through the pages, unable to put the book down.

The final 20 percent of the story is absolutely unhinged. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor more than once and even went back to reread certain parts just to make sure I hadn’t misunderstood—surely it couldn’t be…?

The final revelations don’t let up, and what I really appreciate about Amanda Brittany’s storytelling is that even in the darkest, most dire moments, she manages to leave a glimmer of hope, somehow ending the story on a positive note.

I highly recommend this to thriller fans!

Let Me Out is a gripping psychological thriller with dramatic plot twists. With a large cast of characters, the story moves between past and present as secrets and lies are slowly revealed. The gothic Sycamore House and its owner, Margot Bancroft, are particularly dark and creepy.
A great read.

When her brother is paralysed in an accident, burned-out doctor Annie returns to Ridgewater for the first time in twelve years.

Her brother’s accident horribly mimics the death of her reclusive childhood friend Giselle all those years ago; a trauma compounded by the sudden loss of her father shortly afterwards. Unbeknownst to Annie, her friend Natalie was also attacked the night Giselle died.

Is their a connection between these four tragic events and can Annie find out what her brother knows?

An interesting thriller with one twist too far.

Wow. Wow. Wow. What a page turner!

Annie gets word that her brother, Elliott, is severely injured and makes a trip home for the first time in over twelve years.

A trip back to a village filled with so many secrets. But the secrets keep coming and evolving and no one knows what to believe.

Can Elliott be trusted? What about her friends? Neighbors?

This is a wild ride and I loved it!!

Thank you Boldwood Books for the early access!!

Annie has stayed away from her hometown for many years. There are many bad memories there - her childhood best friend died & she never went back. But now, her brother has had an accident - one eerily similar to the same one that took Giselle's life. Her brother is paralyzed and can no longer speak even though doctors cannot find any medical reason for this.

Annie comes in contact with Natalie, another friend who was with her and Elliot and another friend, Seb, on the night Giselle died. Natalie endured her own trauma that evening; Annie never knew about it and together they seek answers for what happened that night.

This started out a little odd and slow for me. However, it started picking up and i was furiously flipping pages trying to figure out what had happened. This is the first book I've read by Amanda Brittany and I was hooked. She developed the story with intense detail and some pretty crazy twists!

Thank you Net Galley, Boldwood Books & the author for and eARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

I received a copy of this book to review. All opinions are my own. This was an unputdownable thrilling read. Annie is trying to keep her brother safe while also attempting to figure out what really happened to him that’s caused him to be in the condition he is currently. Jumping between past and present, the details come together but still kept me guessing along the way. I found myself second guessing who can be trusted and becoming suspicious of many characters. The character development was amazing and the scenes described so eerily well I felt like I was right there watching everything unfold. #letmeout #netgalley

This was my first Amanda Brittany book and I'm so glad I gave this book a chance because it was such a GOOD read! Loved that it was super twisty and I felt glued to the pages. Every time I finally had free time, I would eagerly keep reading. I loved the different perspectives and flashbacks. I'll definitely be checking out Amanda Brittany's other books.

Annie returns to her hometown after she receives a letter from her mother that Annie’s brother Elliot is sick. She immediately heads over there as she is currently on a leave from her job where is a doctor due to her mental health. When she gets to the quiet town she has to face several tragedies in including her brother’s illness and being reminded of her friends death. The lady who lives across the street from her mother is Margot. Margo’s daughter died years ago and it was ruled on accident. The same night one of friends was assaulted and there was another death. Annie gets back together with her old friend as they try to piece together who assaulted her friend all those years ago and was Giselles death truly accidental? This was such a good thriller for me. The characters were well written throughout and the plot was great. I liked that the story was told from other peoples viewpoints in some spots because it helps you get the big picture. It was very suspenseful and I couldn’t put it down. The twists and turns were amazing and there’s no way I would have figured them out. I’m still shocked! I highly recommend to readers who like suspenseful psychological thrillers with twists and turns throughout.

What a page turner! I really enjoyed how the book was laid out. There were different perspectives from different characters, flashbacks, and so much backstory’s. I really felt for Annie and loved her character. She really felt obligated to help everyone around her and I’m the same way. We are also on the same anti-depressant! To find out the truth on so many mysteries all at once was so good. Usually there is one or two big twists, but I swear part 3 of the book showed every chapter being a twist. I loved this book so much and will be reading more from this author. If you enjoy mysteries and thrillers then please read this!

Wonderful read. There was not one moment where I correctly guessed what would come next. Insane plot twists and extremely well written. I wish I could reread it with no memory of what happens.
