Big thanks to Netgalley and Eve S Evans for the eARC in exchange for a review.

I had high hopes for this one and think there was a lot more room for spicy scenes. She's literally a sex phone operator. Like, let's hear those details.

This was more 'real world' than fantasy, but with some pretty hard to reach coincidences.

I think the stroy line fits into today's society perfectly. Shitty job? Need something better? Try sex work without the physical contact. I mean, that's basically how OF started in the 90's. You just had to call and 800 number and pay by the minute.
3 stars.

This steamy, sun-drenched romance takes readers on a provocative journey through fantasy, self-discovery, and the seductive pull of connection in unexpected places. While When Desire Whispers Through the Line starts with an intriguing premise and plenty of heat, the execution lands somewhere between satisfying and just okay.

The story follows Brea, a vibrant, big-dreaming waitress whose life is upended after a single harsh encounter. Left jobless and adrift, she’s quickly swept into the world of phone sex by the enigmatic and alluring Ember. What follows is a bold exploration of sensuality, confidence, and the blurred boundaries between what’s real and imagined.

Brea’s evolution from uncertain to empowered is one of the book’s highlights. Her journey feels relatable, especially as she balances financial freedom with emotional uncertainty. The chemistry with Tristan, a shy, soulful client, brings tenderness to the otherwise provocative setup—and their growing bond adds welcome emotional stakes. But while their connection simmers, it sometimes lacks the depth or tension needed to make the payoff truly unforgettable.

The writing is sultry and immersive, with vivid settings that evoke a sense of escape—especially the fantasy of tropical beaches and freedom that Brea clings to. However, certain plot beats feel a bit rushed, and supporting characters (like Ember) are compelling but underdeveloped, leaving you wanting more dimension and clarity from the story’s world.

Brea has been recently fired from her job and is down on her luck when she stumbles head first into a new job opportunity. She is now a phone smex operator and is surprised by how much money she is making. One frequent caller named Tristan is starting to work his way under her skin. She begins to feel a connection with him like she's never had before. But when he suggests they meet in person she is both nervous and excited. The smexual tension of this story was really great. I loved that the characters were living out their fantasies. Overall it was a good story. I would definitely read this author again.

📖 ARC Review | Wired for Desire by Eve S. Evans
📚 Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for the advanced reader copy.

When waitress Brea loses her job and crosses paths with a mysterious woman, she’s handed an unexpected opportunity—becoming a phone sex operator.

From the description to the cover, I thought yes—this is going to bring the smut. I love a bit of filthy… but sadly, this one just didn’t deliver.

It had the setup for a steamy, forbidden obsession, but for me, the execution fell flat. The story didn’t hit the level of spice I was expecting, and I found myself wanting more depth and heat from the characters and their connection.

Not every book is for every reader—and that’s okay. This one just wasn’t quite the spicy escape I was hoping for.

Wired For Desire has a unique premise: a girl working as a phone sex operator. It felt fresh and different from other romance stories and immediately caught my interest.

Unfortunately, the story fell flat for me overall. Some character dynamics felt inconsistent, especially the friend who was against the relationship and then suddenly supported it without much explanation.

I also wanted to see more growth and depth from the main character to make her journey more impactful.

Overall, this is a quick, spicy read with an interesting setup, but it needed stronger character development and more consistency to fully deliver.

1⭐️ DNF at 54%. This book was listed as Erotica and the spice still hasn’t started. I’m a fan of a slow burn, but not when the book is categorized as the opposite. The FMC lost her job as a waitress and starts working as a smex phone operator. She completes her first call, we don’t hear anything spectacular and nothing “dirty”, but her dialogue once the call is over is over the top and acting like she is this worlds gift to the smex phone operator scene and stating “I’m no longer living paycheck to paycheck. I’m thriving in the thrills and spills of unconventional job.” ... like, what? You’ve had one call, lol.

When we finally are introduced to Tristan it’s in chapter 7, and I was thoroughly confused because she was talking like we should already know who he is and what the phone conversation was. I was so lost I thought I forgot when we first met him, so I searched for his name, and I was right to be confused.

I woke up dreading picking this book back up, so I decided to DNF.

*Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!*

I really wanted to love this book as the title and synopsis were right up my alley. However, the book was a let down. I feel like we were in the FMC's head the whole time but on a loop. Repetitive and constantly asking herself the same questions.
I had high hopes but this really fell flat.

Giving this a 2.5 stars. I found this book to be very repetitive. The main character spends a lot of the time talking to herself and gives the same descriptions. The 2 main characters seemed to have a major connection, but they barely say anything to each other. Then the book ends with him just hanging up on her and we have to wait for the next book to see if they’re going to be together a lot. The best friend was also getting in the way a lot and she was kind of annoying about it. It wasn’t a bad book, was just a little too repetitive for me.

I was very excited about this book, but unfortunately, it felt a bit flat for me. The main character spent way too much time talking to herself, and eventually, I got tired of listening.

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

I found it a difficult book to get through. There was a lot of use of quotations. What made it feel more like reading a dry screenplay then reading a story. Because of that I didn't get into the story as much as I would have liked.

"Wired for Desire" by Eve S. Evan is a captivating masterpiece that deserves every one of its five stars. The writing is impeccable, weaving a sultry and dynamic narrative that draws you in from the very first page. Evan's vivid descriptions of scenes and emotions are so evocative that you feel as though you've stepped right into the book, experiencing every moment alongside the characters.

The depth of the characters and their relationships is beautifully explored, adding layers to a story that is both engaging and thought-provoking. Evan’s ability to paint such rich and immersive scenes enhances the reading experience, making it impossible to put the book down.

This is not just a book; it’s a literary experience that lingers long after turning the last page. If you're looking for a story that is both enticing and artfully written, "Wired for Desire" is an absolute must-read!

I did not like this one at all. If I wasn’t reviewing it for NetGalley I would have abandoned it pretty much in the first five pages. The author is WAY too wordy and flowery. Too many words that say nothing. But I continued on and about midway, the plot holes/mistakes started. The character has zipped her suitcase and shouldered her carry on but then her roommate is putting clothes into the open suitcase? And there are many more instances of mistakes like that. Finally, the plot was crazy obvious. Pretty much as soon as she gets her new job, you know what’s going to happen which I find tedious. I’m okay with obvious when you connect with the characters and enjoy them but…nope. The main character is annoying and her love interest is bland. This one was not for me.

She was wired to stay detached.
Professional. Controlled. Untouchable.
But then he called in -
A client with voice full of secrets that stripped her bare.

She tried to keep it business.
But desire doesn’t follow rules.
And just when she was ready to fall…
It ended.

A brutal cliffhanger that left me bleeding for more 😮‍💨

This book was ok , it annoyed me how much the lead character spoke to herself. Thank you NetGalley for letting me read and review this quick and fun read.

I thought this book was going to be spicy from the cover but it was anything but spicy. I sadly couldn’t get into the book. I think the book had potential but the ending. I know and dread cliffhangers but really what happened and then just put to be continued. I’m so lost.

Thank you NetGalley for the Arc, I appreciate the opportunity to this book.

I feel like this book had a lot of potential. Unfortunately it wasn’t a book I enjoyed reading. I think I expected some kind of spice considered Brea is a phone sex operator but it just skipped thru it. I was awkward and forced. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and finish it hoping it would keep me hooked but I just feel like a lot of the book was repetitive and it got nowhere in the plot.

I couldn't really get into the book. I felt like it kept dragging on for me until something would happen. I had high hopes for this book.

Wasn't a story I enjoyed - it was forced and weird in parts.

Brea is a waitress that loses her job and takes a new one as a phone sex operator. There she starts talking with Tristan, among other callers, and makes a load of money. She decides to take her friend on a wild trip to Hawaii - where, surprise or not, they meet Tristan in a bar. It was just awkward conversations and a lot of "is it him or not" dialog.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.
