I was intrigued by this book but wasn't sure if it would be for me! But it was so good! Even with it being a novella, I fell in love with the two characters right away. Their instant connection and how in a short time they just seemed to understand each other and helped each other succeed in the scientific trial. I was sad when it was over and that the epilogue wasn't longer! So good!

Hold Me For Now is a compelling dark romance that delves deep into the complexities of healing and human connection. Kristi’s journey through an experimental program meant to “fix” her takes an unexpected turn when she meets T—a patient and understanding partner who shares his own scars. Their relationship blurs the lines between therapy and something more intimate, creating a tension that’s both raw and tender.

Lexi Davis handles difficult emotional themes with sensitivity, crafting characters who feel real in their brokenness and vulnerability. The slow build of trust and desire between Kristi and T pulls you in, even as you worry about the consequences of their fragile bond.

This book is perfect for readers who appreciate romance with emotional depth, complexity, and a touch of darkness. It’s not an easy read, but it’s honest and heartfelt.

I did enjoy this l short novella I was kindly sent by NetGalley. It was very spicy however I would have loved a full story more about before and after their time with the dr. I really liked the characters chemistry together and felt there could have been so much more to the story how we it was still an enjoyable read.

Hold Me For Now is a sweet, easy read with a heartfelt premise. Lexi Davis does a nice job creating a cozy atmosphere and likable characters. While the story didn’t completely sweep me away and the pacing dragged in spots, there were still touching moments and emotional beats that kept me interested. It’s a solid pick if you’re in the mood for a comforting, slow-burn romance with a second-chance twist.

4/5 ⭐️ Hold Me for Now!
Goodreads review posted on 08/02/2025

T and K’s novella was full of some spice and interesting character interactions. T and K aren’t able to have inter course and finish with their partners so they enter a lab study to work with another individual with similar traits and wants to fix the problem.

T and K ‘s story while short was a great read and had a great ending that was fitting for their situation and results. I wasn’t fully sure what to expect for the ending but that was a pleasant surprise nonetheless!

I enjoyed this novella so much! The chemistry and super spicy dark romance elements were so interesting and so steamyyyy! The emotional component was such a big part of the story and I really appreciated that, and felt it really connected me to the characters.

When my sister recommended this novella, I didn’t know if it was the right one for me based on her brief description. But I trust her suggestions and she has yet to steer me wrong! I ended up enjoying this book. Very interesting premise, and I like the way the ending wrapped things up. Thank you to NetGalley and Victory for the chance to read and review this ARC.

I unfortunately couldn’t download the book since the only available option was Kobo. I don’t own a Kobo and reading on my phone is not something I like to do. I am still going to buy and read this book on release day since I was very excited to read it…thank you for sending me an ARC though !

Hold Me For Now by Lexi Davis sets out to explore emotional healing, vulnerability, and the tangled intimacy that comes from forced proximity—and for the most part, it delivers. This dark romance novella offers a unique premise: two broken people, placed in a clinical program to “fix” themselves, find comfort and unexpected connection in each other. It's steamy, intense, and filled with raw emotion.

Kristi’s voice is compelling, and her struggle with feeling broken is relatable and authentic. T, her partner in the program, is a soft, patient counterbalance—someone who understands what it means to carry invisible scars. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the “one bed” trope in a sterile, clinical setting adds a fresh and intriguing layer of tension.

That said, the novella’s shorter length does limit its emotional depth. While the connection between Kristi and T is believable, their emotional journey feels rushed at times. The premise raises a lot of psychological questions that are only lightly explored, and readers looking for a deeper dive into trauma and healing might find it somewhat surface-level.

The spice is definitely there—hot and well-written—but occasionally overshadows the more delicate emotional threads. Some scenes lean heavily on physical intensity while leaving internal growth a little underdeveloped.

Overall, Hold Me For Now is a steamy, fast-paced read with a lot of heart and heat. It’s perfect if you’re in the mood for angst, chemistry, and emotional vulnerability wrapped up in a novella-sized package. Just don’t expect it to dig too deeply into the complex mental health themes it introduces.

Just finished Hold On To Me by Lexi Davis and WOW for it being a novella I enjoyed it, would I like to read more from her because I loved her writing style but want more from the book as a whole!

I definitely thought it would be a little more, I know it was a novella but feel like marketing it as dark romance was kinda a stretch.

ARC was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for the opportunity!

Not gonna lie this book filled the Wattpad sized hole in my heart. Was it epic and the most amazing book I've ever read? No. Did it have me unexpectedly feeling things I didn't think were possible? Yes, absolutely.

K and T are struggling. Two strangers thrown into a room with a bed with one common goal: an orgasm with a partner.

As the story goes along, you can feel the anxiety and attraction between them through such a short time. It's awkward, and emotional, and hot and heavy. It wasn't very sexy just due to how quickly things changed from line to line, but it was still an entertaining brief read.

This was a fast paced, sexy little novella. It’s marketed to be a dark romance novella but I couldn’t call it that. There’s nothing really dark or taboo about it, except maybe the setting.

We have two people unable to orgasm with a partner, looking for a solution to this problem. Enter Dr. Desire and our sexual laboratory where participants are coached through sexual experiences to maximize desired results. What we find is not only were our characters looking for sexual release but they were looking for connection and released from past traumas holding them back.

While we were going through the post coital emotions and separations of the characters, I was wanting more than our female main characters perspective. I would love to read a longer novel that included the male’s perspective and the even Dr Desire and his team behind the 2 way mirror.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Melissa Dymond for this wonderful ARC.

It was such a quick, but enjoyable read! Literally read this in one evening. I really appreciated the concept of the book. This book is definitely for those who tend to people please and deny expressing their own true feelings. I feel like this book also highlighted what elements are most important in love and true connection ❤️

I felt like I really learned and felt something even though it was a short story. Those elements are what I look for in a novella!

If you enjoy an extra spicy 🥵 romance do yourself a favor and read this!

For a dark medical romance, this was surprisingly heartwarming. Two people in search of something they've never had before and the solution turns out to be each other - but he's married. There's not a lot I can say about this one without giving too much away, but in short, I wanna find his wife(?) and kill her for making this sweet sweet boy feel insecure and inadequate.

Surprisingly sweet and heartfelt. I was initially very nervous after reading the trigger warnings, but I thought why not give it a try. If you’re like me and suffer from people-pleasing and have a terribly difficult time speaking up and saying what you want, you may also find a bit of inspiration from these characters.
