I love supernatural/paranormal stories and was super excited to listen to this audiobook, especially with the two talented narrators, Isabelle Ruther & Teddy Hamilton, who did a fantastic job in bringing Jaxon & Harry to life.

However, I did struggle a bit with this story because it felt like something was missing. The characters were unique and I actually really enjoyed the chemistry that both Harry & Jaxon had. But as far as the world/world building and plot I really struggled with that aspect because as a listener/reader it almost felt like we were thrown midway into a story without a lot of context of what is going on so you have to sort of figure out what is happening without all of the information. Also, the miscommunication between the two characters did not help either. I think the miscommunication trope is fine to a certain degree but when it becomes a large portion of the story or what is happening between characters it becomes difficult to stay engaged.

That all being said the narrators really helped to keep me engaged throughout the book, I just wish there was a bit more world building, less miscommunication between characters and the romance between them expanded on further.

Thank you NetGalley for this ALC!

Harry thought the blue willow of the wisp was going to lead her to her boyfriend Jax. But instead it led to someone else. Harry being devastated left and didn’t return for 13 years only because her best friends daughter was going rough changes and they didn’t know what she was.

Harry returned to Fates haven only to kindle her love of Ajax again and help Grace discover what she was and her father.

This was an amazing book. The twist and turns along the way and the slow burn of lovers.

This was an enjoyable read. Great romance with just a touch of paranormal/cozy fantasy. I do wish that parts of the plot had been a bit more developed, but overall I enjoyed this book and will continue the series.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape for providing me with a copy of the Audiobook.

I definitely enjoyed this book. Having the Audiobook I could picture everything vividly as if I was there.

April does an amazing job of captivating my attention in this story. Harry is a very lovable main FMC and Jax is definitely a must have book boyfriend material. I would recommend it to others to read.

This is my first time reading this author's work and won't be my last. The book was cute and all the characters were nicely done. What did not work for me was the sub plots, way too many that took away from the romance. Jaxon and Harlow had steam coming off their ears. I wish that there had been more focus on their relationship vs all the other mumbo jumbo. When any interaction happened between them it was fab.

The narration was excellent.

This is a pretty standard and cute paranormal rom-com which I’m always up for as a palate cleanser between larger and heavier books. In this book we follow witch Harry and she tries to help her best friends daughter grace her better control of her powers landing her back in her home town and forced to work with Jax her ex whom she left after learning the two weren’t fated.

I had a decent enough time with this one, although this book is very heavy on the miscommunication trope which may be an issues for readers.

Teddy Hamilton was fantastic as always narrating the book, he remains a personal favorite of mine. Isabelle Ruther also does an admirable job.

Cute and cosy magical story. I had lots of fun listening to this book and the narrator did a splendid job. I enjoyed the interactions of the main characters immensely. Though the ending felt a little rushed.

And while the cover is cute, it does spoil the main "mystery", which... Why?

This is such a good, quirky, paranormal, second chance, small town book. Yes, so many tropes in this one. As usual, this author doesn't disappoint.

Teddy Hamilton is always a win, but even he couldn’t quite save this one for me. The story was fine—enjoyable enough in the moment—but it didn’t leave much of an impression.

I wasn’t a fan of the female narrator, and the chemistry between the leads just didn’t land. Add in the lack of worldbuilding, and it all felt a little flat. Not terrible, just not particularly memorable.

I am obsessed with paranormal romcoms, and A Simple Twist of Fate was a great one! I enjoyed the cozy, small town vibes mixed with the fantasy elements of fate magic and various paranormal beings. The take on magical trials often found in fantasy books where the witches vs. shifters competed in games was so fun!

Grace was one of my favorite parts of the book. She embodied teenage sassiness and I loved all of her witty lines, as well as how she wasn’t afraid of Jax. There is a dragon on the cover so of course I was drawn in, and I was shocked by the twist involved with the dragon (in the best way).

The second chance romance between Harry & Jax was delicious. I’m glad the author had an explanation as to why Harry never learned the truth of what happened until she returned to town. I also loved that Harry was able to restore her relationships with her best friends too.

🎧 Narrators: Isabelle Ruther & Teddy Hamilton

This was my first audiobook featuring Isabelle Ruther, and I enjoyed her narration style. She brought out the sass in both Harry & Grace perfectly. Teddy Hamilton is amazing, and it’s no surprise he was perfect as Jax! The dual narration really brought the banter to life.

Thank you @NetGalley and @Dreamscapemedia for the ALC. A Simple Twist of Fate is a paranormal story of a witch and a shifter. It is also a second chance romance. Harlow is on a mission to find the father of her God daughter who is a shifter. It is hard to go home sometimes but it can be a blessing too. I enjoyed this book, it was full of humor, suspense and romance. I will read more by April Asher.

I loved this one 🥰

A Simple Twist of Fate is such a sweet book! I loved all the paranormal aspects in here: there are witches, shifters, seers, angels… just to name a few! Then it has some great tropes, like second-chance, fated mates, and a small (and magical!) town. The romantic scenes are open-door, and spice lovers should be satisfied! I ate this one right up. I really hope that more books will be coming set in this same universe/town because I’d love to come back!

I loved both of these narrators! I’m glad they had another narrator for Jackson’s part because it might have gotten confusing listening by audio.

I was able to listen to this as an audio, and I really enjoyed it. This takes our FMC is a witch who has custody of her friends shift her daughter, while the friend goes to search for her daughter‘s dad. They start off with the ups and downs of trying to figure out what type of shifter the daughter is which through a series of unfortunate event leads them to moving back to her hometown. But upon getting back to her hometown to talk to the Local shifter alpha, she finds out that it’s her ex from 10 years ago and the reason she left the town. This has cute twist and turns and some miscommunication of if only you would’ve listened to me we would’ve been fine. There is a town competition between the big bads and the fearsome four. And finding out secrets along the way. This is a second chance romance with supernatural vibes. And thanks to. @Dreamscape Media #asimpletwistoffate #netgalley

This was such a fun ride!! 🧙‍♀️🐺 A Simple Twist of Fate is a cozy-spicy romance fantasy that had me smiling the entire time. The narrators were fantastic—they nailed both the humor and heart of the story 🎧💖. I laughed out loud so many times, especially during scenes involving the bakery that sells “sexual” pastries (yes, really) 🍰😉.

Harry is a chaotic delight, and Jaxon’s broody Alpha energy was the perfect match. Their chemistry was great, and I loved how the small-town magic added warmth and charm to every scene. The found family vibes, magical mishaps, and sweet emotional moments made this such a well-balanced read.

I devoured this book—if you love witchy rom-coms with spice, sass, and heart, you need this one in your life 💫🫶.

I absolutely loved the world this author built, it's such a mix and match of different species of creatures! This added to the plot, which was fantastic. I loved the small town feels, where everyone knows everyone's business. I grew up in a town like that so it hits me in my feels a little more, I believe that's how the kids say it these days. There are so many elements to this book as well that has made it one of my favorite books, there's humor, and romance, and mystery, suspense, I could go on. I very much recommend this book to anyone who loves a good rom-com with some fun characters.

This was so cute and magical! The story was spell binding and the characters were so thought out. I was immersed in this magical story and it is a fantastic fall read! It has a little bit of everything in it! I will be reading all of this authors books! This was the audio version and it felt like the story came to life!! Highly recommend

Harriet “Harry” has temporary custody of her best friend’s teenage daughter; who happens to have some interesting powers developing. To figure out what is going on, Harry and her goddaughter must head back to her home town, where she fled thirteen years ago.

Once there she must be seek counsel from the head alpha, who just happens to be her ex and the reason she fled all those years ago.

I thought this was a fun, cute paranormal romance. There is some spice but not a lot. I loved the small town vibes with the touches of the paranormal. This would be a good fall, Halloween read or any time of year.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my advanced copy.

Loved this book! I've been reading so much lately that some of what I've been reading has begun to feel like a slog. This book reminded me of what it's like to read something really fun and well-written. I love April Asher and this book did not disappoint me. I enjoyed the characters and the community, and the second chance romance had a proper reasoning behind the initial break-up and enough time had passed to make it all palatable. The one thing that I didn't really vibe with story-wise was the third-act hiccup (I can't really call it a break-up). I don't feel that the hurt and mistrust over the female lead's initial leaving of town was really delved into enough to make the reactions of her friends and family believable. They all wildly overreacted to a single sentence in a partially read text. She was 18 when she took off that first time, she's in her thirties now, please write characters who understand how growth and development happen. Otherwise, it was a fun, romantic romp and I look forward to reading more stories set in this magical town.

DNF @ 20%. I loved April Asher's Supernatural Singles series so, so much, but I am just not feeling "A Simple Twist of Fate." I have a hunch it is a "me" problem and has nothing directly to do with this book. The writing is fine, but I am just not enjoying the story all that much. Asher sort of drops you in the middle of this world and with these characters all of a sudden? It feels like it began way too quickly for some reason. I love a cozy romance, but I am finding that my mind is drifting every single time I start to read this one. I can feel the longing between Harry and Jaxon, so that's a plus, but it's not enough to keep my focus. Found family with a bratty teenager isn't my thing. There is a lot of lore and world-building all at once, and I think my mind is just not ready for that kind of book right now. All this to say, there is nothing bad about April Asher, her writing style, and the vibes of this book would be immaculate if I felt like jumping into a new world head-on without any notice. I do love Isabelle Ruther and Teddy Hamilton's dual narration, though. They are fantastic together and embody these characters very well. Like I said, it's not you, it's me.

Thank you to NetGalley, April Asher, and Dreamscape Media for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

🎧ALC REVIEW🎧
📚A Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher
🎤Narrated by Isabelle Ruther & Teddy Hamilton

DUAL NARRATION
3.75 ⭐
Rounded up to a 4⭐because of the narration which was fantastic!

This book was such a cozy, paranormal romance with witches & a smidge of fate magic. Think Stars Hollows meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer & those are the vibes this one gives. A cozy, quirky town with magic lurking in every corner & a bakery called Sugar Tits & Treats.😂😂 It's totally like the Gilmore Girls meet magic & romance.

This book is just light & fun. The small-town quirky charm was delightful. There's a slew of characters that bring so much fun & TERRIFIC banter to the book.

The story revolves around Harlow, "Harry," whose trying to help her goddaughter, 16 year old Grace, discover her powers & identity in the world. It takes them back to her small-town where she comes face to face with her true love, Jax. Leaving years ago without any explanation after the Fated Festival, it appears Jax had been fated to her best friend. Yeeps! NO fun & she bails the heck outta there! They join forces in trying to help Grace uncover her identity and Harry & Jax find their way back to each other in the process. He becomes instrumental in helping Grace discover who she really is & what powers she possesses. Coming back to her home, Fates Haven, Colorado, truly was meant to be. Fate brings Harry & Jax back together.

This was such a nice change of pace in my reading. It was fun, light & cozy as all heck. I LOVE a great 2nd chance romance but I wish there had been a bit more push & pull, a little more angst between Harry & Jax but it didn't stop me one bit from thoroughly enjoying this one and the talent from the two narrators that perform this one.

🎧Let's talk narration: Isabelle Ruther is new to me & she was fantastic at voicing Harry. Her character is smart, sassy & witty! She delivers all the charm you want from this delightful witch. Teddy Hamilton is the man! He can deliver most any character thrown his way. He was perfect at voicing Jax, the tortured shifter who has never stopped loving Harry! BOTH of these narrators voice a variety of characters & do it flawlessly. So enjoyable to listen to. In particular, their performances of 16 year old Grace were so SPOT ON! I was giggling the whole way through.

If you love a sweet paranormal romance with Stars Hollow vibes this is most certainly right up your alley. There's witches, shifters, faes & magical creatures and a big ol' heap of fun banter that's puts the rom in this com!

Thanks to April Asher, NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for a copy of the ALC.
