I loved this book! Not only was it a swoony, second-chance romance between a witch and a shape-shifter, but it had sweet family dynamics and enchanting magic. I adored Harlow and Jaxon! They had sexy and sassy banter, and the whole town of Fates Haven got in on the fun. I need this to be a series!
Thank you @dreamscape_media for the gifted audiobook via #NetGalley. Narrated by Isabelle Ruther and Teddy Hamilton, this audiobook was fantastic!

Thank you for the advance Audio Copy. I enjoyed the narration by Teddy Hamilton and Isebelle Ruther..
I loved the premise of a magical world that is adjacent to the regular and that the two seem to blend together. Harlow and Jaxson are young lovers who each think they should be 'fated' to be with each other, but when the matching ceremony selects another for Jaxon, Harlow leaves town and has no plans to return. 13 years later, her life has taken a turn she never saw coming. She's the guardian to a teenage shifter who is having trouble controlling her powers. So she decides to return home, where she hopes to find answers for her young charge. She finds answers, and so much more like why 13 years ago. the blue willow whisp didn't pick her and Jaxson, and it wasn't because his heart belonged to another.
I loved the presmise of the novel and enjoyed the characters and their journey. I would have liked a bit more understanding of how the non-magical and magical worlds connected.

This paranormal rom-com hit all the right notes! 𝗔 𝗦𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗪𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗯𝘆 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿 is a second-chance romance packed with magical mischief, sizzling chemistry, and heartwarming found family vibes. Harlow “Harry” Pierce returns to Fates Haven with her goddaughter, hoping to help her find her place—but instead walks right back into the arms (and tension) of Jaxon Atwood, the cougar shifter she once thought was her Fated Match. April Asher weaves together small-town charm, magical chaos, and emotional depth with ease. The banter sparkles, the town’s quirky residents shine, and the story is brimming with everything I love: healing, humor, and high-stakes magical mayhem. Bonus: there's a town festival, a supernatural matchmaking gone wrong, and just enough tension to keep those pages turning. I hope there will be more books—this world has so much more to explore!
The narration by Isabelle Ruther and Teddy Hamilton was awesome!

This was a great audio-arc to have gotten. The voice characters were top notch picks and flowed well with the storyline, definate 5 stars on those categories. There were such cute and funny parts in this book that will have you cackling out loud like i did-tiny spoiler: PASTRIES 🤭🤭.
The only thing that had me slightly pull away from the 5 stars all together was, the young FMC. I understand shes young (16) but, ma'am!
Outside of her, this was an amazing audio arc to read/listen to.

This book is a small town, second chance, paranormal romcom with a splash of found family and some open door spice. After her high school sweetheart, cougar shifter Jax is revealed to be fated to her best friend Elodie, Harry, a witch, leaves without a word and flees to NYC. In NYC, she becomes guardian of her best friend, Cassie’s, half-human, half-shifter daughter, Grace. When Grace’s uncontrollable abilities emerge 13 years later and no answers can be found, Harry returns to Fates Haven with Grace in hopes the Alpha Atwood of the Rocky Mountain pack can help. Little does she know, Jax is now the Alpha. Both Harry and Jax refuse to allow themselves to let their hearts win, but with Jax helping Grace, Harry’s meddling aunt Nora and their intermingled friend groups, they are forced together. Fate said they aren’t meant to be together, but could Fate have been wrong this time?
The audiobook was narrated by Isabelle Ruther and Teddy Hamilton. Both did a great job portraying the characters and their individual personalities. It was a quick, easy, lighthearted listen.
Overall, the books was enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun read with some spice. However, I felt the magic system and overall world weren’t well developed. The town’s residents included all kinds of magical beings including witches, angels, demons, vampires, shifters, and fae as well as humans, but the characteristics and abilities of each were not well explained nor was their relationship with each other or with humans. This was my first April Asher book, so maybe I wouldn’t have these questions if I had already read her other books set in the world. This book isn’t part of her Supernatural Singles series though, so some more background information would have been appreciated. I will say, this lack of information didn’t really take away from the story as a whole.
Lastly, thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review the audiobook version of A Simple Twist of Fate.
Overall: 3.5/5 stars
Narration: 5/5 stars
Spice: 3/5 chili peppers
*Disclaimer* This was my first review

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read A Simple Twist of Fate. I found the story entirely cringey and desperately quirky while also being very heartwarming and cozy. I would compare it to the Pumpkin Spice Cafe meets Back in a Spell. I really enjoyed it although I didn’t find it super original. The voice actors were perfect! I will definitely listen to anything they voice in future.

Second chance romance between a witch and a shifter... sign me up! this was a super cute fun read, really liked all the characters and I loved the audio narrators, would highly recommend

I don't think I can really translate into coherent words how much I just loved this book. I just loved everything about it!
The writing, the world building, the plot, the characters, the simple twists and surprises...
It was the perfect story, at the perfect moment!
Harry is a witch and lives in NY, and helps her best friend raise her teenage daughter. When her powers start to grow out of control, and they can't even begin to understan what Grace really is from, her mom goes on a quest to find answers. And that leaves Harry with a teen and some wacky powers. When it all breaks, she decides to return to Fates Haven, her small town, the same place she swore never to return. A place with great magic.
She had run 13 years back, since a dreadfull mating cerimony had gone wrong. And she was ok (or trying) living with that. But big girl panties were needed because Grace needed her help, and in her 'borrowed 'mama bear mode she returned, knowing she would eventually meet Jax.
Jax is a shifter, and is the alpha. He learned a long time ago to live is life as best he could, and tried every single day not to miss Harry. Better said then done, right.
When she returns they have so many unfinished business that takes them a while to work it out. But with some meddling friends and family the love and care of that town grows on them. With patience they manage to find some answers that can help Grace and maybe help them heal from the past.
I laughed so hard with the banter both between main characters, but also with the side ones also.
Grace was such an important part of this story, almost as the main ones. Her teenage sass and sarcasm and way to feel as only a 16 year old can were perfectly translated in this story. We could feel so many things along side with her.. And waching her bloom, grow confidence and love?
And the others?
I kept changing my favorite character through out the book. I guess I just can't decide. I want so badly to learn all their stories..
I want a thousand more books in this world. Fates Haven is just amazing! Can't wait for the next ones.

rounded up 3.75⭐
We follow Harry an 18-year-old witch who leaves her hometown after she learns that she was not fated to her boyfriend, Jaxon, a shifter.
I had a good time with this book/audiobook. I haven't read many witch/ shifter books, but I didn't want to put the book/audiobook down. A second chance romance found family with a little mystery. I enjoyed the narrations. They brought the story to life.

I just finished a Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher @novelsbyapril and here are my musings…
It’s been 13 years since Harlow “Harry” Pierce has been home but when her half human, half shifter goddaughter is having trouble controlling her magic, she knows home is the only place she can go to get the help they so desperately need. Coming back was never supposed to be on the cards especially since that fateful night… When her best friend and the love of her life were fated to be together but swallowing down her dread, she makes the trek home.. Jaxon is still the same shifter he has always been and when Harry turns up begging for his help… He isn’t prepared to see the witch who stole his heart.
I have been a fan of April Asher since not the witch you wed and I have been addicted to her paranormal romance reads ever since. She didn’t disappoint.
I love all the characters. Jaxon is the typical grumpy shifter with a dash of touch her and die. SWOON!!! I usually despise second chance romance because I hate miscommunication but this one gets away with it. I think I would have ran like my ass was on fire as well. You don’t mess with fate but Harry is the kind of witch that doesn’t look back and if it hadn’t been for her goddaughter… she would never have gone back.
I love the zany plot too. The magic has gone wonky and things haven’t been quite right since that night 13 years ago but the gnomes stole the show for me. Read it and find out haha. I like the way each friend has a different personality but they all work so well together and the chemistry between Jaxon and Harry is out of the world HAWT!!
I had one problem with the book. The competition… I get it was there for comic relief but it was a tad distracting for me. I could have done without it and had more of the search for Grace’s dad. Maybe in some POV of the mother looking for the dad. Food for thought.
I had the audio and the ebook and I did immersion reading for some of it. The narration was bang on!
It was a solid 4.25 stars for me.

Story 4 1/2 ⭐️
Narration 5⭐️
I loved this so much! The story was so fun, and the second chance romance and small paranormal town setting was just perfect. The banter and sexual tension, were so well done, not to mention the Buffy references just made me love it more. Narrators Isabelle Ruther; and Teddy Hamilton were perfect, they made everything funnier, especially the angsty teenage girl, you could practically hear the character’s eye rolls. I can’t wait to continue this series.

I received an ARC of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
The story was a combination of an Elsie Silver book and magical creatures. The audiobook had great narration - I enjoyed listening to it
This book had all of the components of stories that I like - second chance romance, reunited family, games & dragons/shifters/fae/witch. However, it felt like too many tropes were squeezed into the story.

A Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher is such a fun paranormal romance that pulled me right in and wouldn't let go! It started with a bang and just got better and better. I don’t know how many times I giggled or squealed with delight!
Harry couldn’t leave Fates Haven fast enough after the town’s Fates Finding Ceremony linked her cougar shifter boyfriend, Jax, to her best friend, leaving her heartbroken and devastated. Thirteen years later, she returns, hoping the Rocky Mountain alpha pack leader can help her half-shifter, half-human goddaughter, Grace, figure out how to discover and control her unruly shifter abilities. She's taking a risk because Jax's mom is the pack leader, or so she thinks.
"Fuck fate. Make your own. You tell it how things will be. And if fate ends up being right in the end, at least you'll have taken your path to get there."
April Asher's characters are not just well-developed but also engaging and relatable. She shines at showing instead of telling, which keeps the pacing steady, with no slow points, making the reader feel connected and invested in the story.
A Simple Twist of Fate is filled with witty banter, forgiveness, friendship, angst, and more!
Listening to the audiobook is delightful! Teddy Hamilton and Isabelle Rutherford bring each character's unique personality to life. Teddy's portrayal of Jax made me swoon, and Isabelle's narration is top-notch. The audiobook is so well done that I hated to hit pause, whizzing through it in what seemed like the blink of an eye.
I can't wait for more books set in Fates Haven! What a fun ride!
• Fated mates
• Witch & cougar shifter
• Wonky magic
• Mysteries
• Friendships
• Lingerie-stealing gnomes
• Forgiveness
• Second chance at love
• Dual POV
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ALC.

If there is one thing that Asher does right it is definitely a bad ass curvy FMC. The wit and snark that she brings to life in her characters always makes for a good time. I really liked Harry and thought that she really started to get out of her own way and come into her own once she returned to her roots. I think that the chemistry between harry and Jax was done well and I was rooting for them right from the start. I latched onto the type of shifter Grace was pretty early on but there was definitely a few twists that I didn't see coming which I am always grateful for. I hope that there are going to be more books set in this world!!
I thought the narrators did a fantastic job of bringing this story to life.

Love story aspect - Good.
Teenage Shifter mystery - Good
Missing Fated Witch mystery - Good
Weird competition challenges that distracted from the story- Not so Good.
Plus, <spoiler>Don't make the shifter a mystery and then put a freaking dragon on the cover. Saw that coming a mile away!</spoiler>
3.5 stars rounded down to a 3

This was such a cute read. A second chance romantasy. It was a light read that made me smile.
I really hope we get to see more of the characters in additional books.
The narrators were chefs kiss! Anything that has Teddy Hamilton sign me up!! He is one of my all time favorite narrators. Isabelle Ruther was phenomenal as well. Her voice was perfect. I enjoyed that their pacing was the same. Iykyk.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced audiobook. All opinions are my own.

This quirky, low-stakes paranormal romance proves that finding your fated mate in Fates Haven, Colorado, doesn't have to be a dramatic affair. It’s a hilariously heartfelt one with a side of found family. The stakes are wonderfully low, making it the perfect escape.
And for audiobook lovers, you're in for an extra special treat! Isabelle Ruther and fan-favorite Teddy Hamilton deliver stellar performances that bring every quirky character and cozy moment to vibrant life.

I went into this book blind, didn't bother reading the description. I'm so glad I did because it was wonderful without any insight. This was a super fun read. The fmc's name being Harry threw me for the entire story but I'd absolutely read this again

A Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher is a Paranormal Romantic Comedy. Harry is a runaway witch. At the annual Fate festival Harry found out that Jax was not her fated but meant for her friend. She left town because she was heartbroken. Thirteen years later she has a mystery on her hands, and it ends up leading her back to her hometown. She is searching for answers for Grace. She finds out that magic has been wonky since she left. Her and Jax can rekindle their romance while trying to solve a couple of mysteries. They also have the help of some amazing friends. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this book and I hope to have more from Fates Haven.

This book was super easy to get into especially with the narrators reading the audiobook. The world was interesting with the natural blending of various species and how it doesn't feel weird when different characters use their abilities.
