Thank you Dreamscape Media, St.Martin's Press, and Netgalley for the ARC!

I am not a romance reader, but I am someone who loves mythical creatures, so I wanted to give this book a shot, and I was pleasantly surprised! I really liked how it was written, the romance between the mmc and fmc was so cute and adorable. I loved the moody teenage shifter, and her struggles. I think, though, what really drew me to this story was the way that Harry was struggling with accepting her place within the story of her boyfriend and friend, and how she was desperate to just be included and loved. It felt like it wasn't a story of two people learning to love each other, but instead it was a journey of a woman to love herself.

Adding this to my collection of Julia Quinn, Ali Hazelwood, and Ruby Dixon.

3.5 rounded up! This book is like biting into a warm cinnamon bun—sweet, fluffy, and just a tiny bit spicy! (and yes, I’m absolutely giving bonus points for the hilarious chapter titles 😂).

Told through dual POV—Teddy Hamilton alert!—this light fantasy romp brings together witches, shifters, and all kinds of magical mischief in a charming small-town rom-com setting.

While the world-building took a backseat (this isn’t that kind of fantasy), the humor totally carried the story. I didn’t feel fully hooked by the plot until about 60% in, but it was still a genuinely fun and easy listen. Sometimes, vibes > plot.

If you’re in the mood for something magical, mischievous, and just a bit steamy, this book is a sweet little treat!

An incredibly fun, heartwarming supernatural fantasy with some delicious spice. I really enjoyed the audio version read by two absolutely fantastic narrators, Isabelle Ruther and Teddy Hamilton, who both brought the characters to life.

Overall, it was a gorgeously cosy read, with great writing from April Asher and a story that flowed well with some truly laugh out loud moments (some involving cakes).

This was another fantasy sci fi type of genre and I learned some new words in this style of writing that are new to me due to the fact I don’t have a vast catalogue really of books that I’ve read in this area although it is surprisingly building! Again this could probably fit into the YA category as well but also suited to all ages!

Harry returns to Fates Haven with her troubled god daughter looking for some support in guiding her how to hone in some of the different abilities she seems to have picked up suddenly. When she runs into an old friend Jaxon, Harry was thinking she was going to seek the assistance of his mother but actually his mother has retired and so leaving Jaxon on her place Harry finds herself in the position of either accepting his help or not but with a little bit of history there it could make things just a little bit awkward… What will their fate together be?!

An enjoyable easy listen although it was a little spicy more than I imagined anyway! Well narrated and the plot and storyline flowed well. With thanks to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for this ELC in return for this review 📚🎧

A second chance romance with mystery and magic? Count me in! This was such a feel good fantasy read with all the magical beings. A witch FMC and a cougar shifter MMC reunite after 13 years to help solve a little mystery or two. Throw in magical friends, some competitive fun, and comic relief in the form of a risqué bakery, and you have a really fun time.

Overall this book was a real palate cleanser from the heavier fantasy/dark fantasy I’ve been reading. The characters were likable and the pace was good. April Asher’s writing style is fantastic. A new favorite for me.

An endearing cozy fantasy romcom. I enjoyed every minute of this book. It was the perfect homecoming small town romance. While it was predictable it was very well written and the characters were delightful. Not to mention the dual narration with Teddy Hamilton was the icing on the cake.

firstly, thank you to the publisher for an arc and an alc!

unfortunately, dnf @ not even 10% because whew… as soon as i started reading i knew this would not be for me at all.

not only is there the entire kitschy paranormal romance tropes and corny, cringey language in the less than 10% i’ve read, but there is too much emphasis and sexuality and libido as a joke — and that’s just so annoying in my book.

as for the narrators, they did a fine job, at least for what i listened to!

A Simple Twist of Fate was an average read. I liked the MMC and the ending was cute but the other characters are quite two-dimensional and I just didn't understand the FMC's reasonings. Plus, the God-daughter's mother just leaves her for a year and hardly gets in contact.

I stayed for the romance.

This adorable paranormal Rom-com is everything you are looking for in a stand alone romantacy book. With witches and shifters. Fae and dragons. Even little adorable thief gnomes!
When Harry (Harlow) meet Jax in their small town paranormal town it was love but was it fate? Didn’t appear so when 13 years ago at the fated festival when her boy friend Jax and her best friend appeared to be fated together but the gods. So what’s a girl to do? Yeet outta town! But after losing her job and taking care of her new best friends 16 year old daughter who is coming into her own magic, Harry finds herself back home in fate’s haven.
This book is a x rated hallmark movie during spooky season waiting to happen and I’m here for it. I loved the characters and all their magical powers and the rivalry during the games. But I don’t think the games were necessary. They kind of distracted me from the point of the book. I felt the key points of the book were finding out what magical powers Grace has and finding her dad. The book barely touches on why they’re looking for her dad and how and what her mother has spent months doing looking for me. Instead we concentrate on a slow burn second chance romance between the FMC and MMC. There could have been a smidge more angst between the two. And way better communication. I felt the ending was rushed also. Tons of background in the beginning of the book but bing bam boom at the end.
Overall: 3.75/5 ⭐️
Narrator/s: 4.75/5 👄
Storyline: 3/5 📖
Swoon: 2.5/5 😍
Spice: 3.5/5 🌶️
Heartbreak: 0/5 💔
Slow burn or insta love: slow burn
Format: Audio -ALC
Tropes: 2nd chance romance; slow burn; spicy scenes; magical creatures of all kinds; small town romance
Triggers (always subjective): lack of communication

I am a huge fan of a paranormal romance and this absolutely hit the spot! Fates Haven was every bit of a the magical Stars Hollow-esque town you could hope for. The fun and funky cast of characters was so great, definitely leaving the possibility of future stories taking place here.

Sometimes I think the story can get watered down when there are too many subplots happening but I think the way all of this was woven together was perfect. There was just enough spice, mystery, and camaraderie mixed up in this story.

The narration was incredible and added so much to my listening experience.

Definitely for fans of:
✨ small town
💖 fated mates
✨ shifter x witch
💖 friendly competition
✨found family

Thank you Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for an opportunity to listen to the ALC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion ♥️

This is a fun second-chance romance filled with twists and hilarious banter. Harlow "Harry" was in love with Jackson thirteen years ago—until a fating ceremony led her to believe they weren't destined to be together. Now, years later, she needs his help with her best friend's daughter, who is beginning to manifest shifting powers. As a witch, Harry is out of her depth and turns to Jackson for guidance.

Harry and Jackson share a complicated history, and their chemistry is undeniable. The spice is great, and best of all, there’s no third-act breakup—which I appreciated. However, I did have an issue with the original breakup: Harry ran away and refused to let anyone explain the misunderstanding, which felt frustrating and a bit forced.

It’s clear this is setting up a series, and while I enjoyed the expanded world and side characters, the ending did get a little convoluted with so many subplots converging at once. Still, it was an enjoyable read overall.

The audiobook was fantastic—Teddy Hamilton and Isabelle Ruther did a marvelous job voicing the characters and truly brought the story to life.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced copy. You can pick up A Simple Twist of Fate now.

I had high hopes when starting this book, but unfortunately, I had to DNF pretty early on. I found the multiple instances of the non-word "snortled" to be too much for me. And overall, the writing style was a bit too quirky for my taste. But I can see this cute and cozy paranormal romance appealing to a ton of people who enjoy second-chance romance and found family.

In the paranormal small town of Fates Haven, Harlow Pierce and Jaxon Atwood get a second chance at romance.

This is the first April Asher book I've read, I had a great time! I had some laugh out loud moments as this cozy rom-com welcomed me into the magical town of Fates Haven.

This story has: magical realism, witch + Alpha shifter romance, small town found family, fated mates, third person POV

I would like to thank dreamscape media and NetGalley for the opportunity to review the ALC of a Simple Twist of Fate

Thank you NetGalley and April Asher for the chance to listen to this ALC!

This was a cute, cozy, quick read. I loved the charming small town. The paranormal characters with banter that had me laughing. And the found family that had my heart melting.
The plot was the main focus of this story. The relationship between Jax and Harlow is more in the background. However, there are some brief moments between them with conversation on the miscommunication and history between them. And there is some chemistry and spice. I just would have liked to have had more of it. That being said, it was still a good story and overall I enjoyed it.
I’m hoping we get more books of some the other characters. I’d love to get to know more about them and their stories!

The narrators for this audio were Teddy Hamilton and Isabelle Ruther.
Teddy Hamilton, as always, was perfection. I could listen to him narrate anything. A dictionary, a menu…. Anything! He’s one of my favorite narrators.
This is the first I’ve listened to anything narrated by Isabelle Ruther and I was impressed with her range. Her ability to voice ALL the characters including the male voices was very good!
I felt their voices were perfect for Jax and Harlow and that they complimented each other well.
They both done an amazing job!

You know those nights when all you want is to curl up on the couch and rewatch a classic rom-com?

A Simple Twist of Fate is that vibe—but with witches, shifters, and a dash of fae sparkle. I was lucky enough to get the ALC on NetGalley (thank you, Dreamscape Media!) and it was the perfect cozy listen while I did some couch lounging and multitasking.

The narrators are fantastic. Isabelle Ruther brings heart and humor, and honestly, I’d listen to Teddy Hamilton narrate a grocery list.

April Asher nails the sweet spot: romance, humor, spice, and a low-stakes plot that feels like a warm hug. Think Gilmore Girls meets a supernatural small town. The FMC, Harry, is a plus-size witch with PCOS (I feel seen) who left town after fate rerouted her boyfriend… straight to her best friend. Now she’s back—with a reluctant teen in tow—and reentering this chaotic, magical little world she once called home.

The banter between the leads? Excellent. The chemistry? Instant. The vibes? Immaculate. It’s light, it’s fun, it’s got just enough plot to keep things moving without ever getting too heavy.

Highly recommend for your next palate cleanser or rainy day binge-listen.

This book is everything you need to pull you out of that reading slump. The perfect mix between a romance and a fantasy book that will making you laugh, cry and smile ear to ear from start to finish. I’m can say this is one of the best books I have read in a while and I cannot wait for more in this world. From what I can tell the author will pick up the story with another couple and I really hope it’s our angle/ demon couple.

Lets start by the audio, I loved it. So good. I like both narrators so good and well Teddy is in it , what is not to love 😅. Aside of voice preferences, I think both did a amazing job with this book.

Now book wise . Wow April did it again. Have I said how much I love her books. Like always the perfect mix of contemporary and magic in them. Loved how this book is funny, entertaining. Is about second chances and make things right. Found family and reconnecting with family and your roots. OverallI loved it , like is obvious. But I don’t want to spoil it if I keep going . All I can said we have a feisty witch and a very grumpy shifter. And to throw a bit in the mix a very temperamental teenager 🤣.

loved this book on audio! thank you so much to dreamscape media for the ALC, and to St. Martin's Press / St. Martin's Griffin for the eARC. these are my honest thoughts.

I LOVE April Asher's paranormal world(s), and this story was just as I expected from her... that's to say, it's full of fun and emotional topics and characters with diverse needs who all come together for a good cause.

I loved Harry. She was a little bit grumpy, a little rough around the edges, a little worn down and world-weary. She's helping to raise her best friend's daughter, and Grace might actually be a shifter. She's getting kicked out of school, and Harlow has lost her job in NYC, and so these two pack up their belongings and return to Harry's hometown, a place she hasn't returned to in 13 years.

Harry's convinced that her Aunt Nora and Alpha Atwood will be able to help diagnose and train the maybe shifter, because she can't go on without someone formal watching out for her. But upon her return, she realizes that Mrs. Atwood is no longer the alpha. Instead, it's her son, who broke Harry's heart 13 years ago on an ill-fated night where the fates found that Jaxon's match was not Harry at all...

The magic unleashed in this story is topsy turvy upon Harry's return to Fates Haven. Something has scrambled the magic. While Jaxon helps Grace slowly unleash her powers, Aunt Nora convinces the town council to reinstitute the Fates Festival, in hopes to bring the magic back to rights. There are competitions where the four male main characters in this story bet Harry, Grace, and Harry's two best friends, to competitions. There's rivalry. There's magical powers. And there's close proximity. And when more than one thing heats up, flames licking to the surface, it's anyone's guess what will happen next.

Read if you love:
- Paranormal
- Witches, shifters, dragons
- Second chance
- Witchy Small Town Vibes
- PCOS rep (briefly mentioned)
- Single mom-adjacent
- Simple twists of magic
- Rivalry and competition

This audiobook was such a fun listen! I loved both narrators. My only complaint is that April Asher likes to switch perspectives within chapters, and sometimes that whiplash on audio is a bit jarring. One second, it's the female narrator, and the next, it's the male. This is something I've noticed across all of the April Asher books I've listened to (as in, the other three that I've listened to), and this very well could just be a me-ick situation, but it's something that always bothers me.

Out now!

A grumpy shapeshifter, an emotionally closed off witch and a moody firestarter teen, Perfection. Hard to pick a favorite character because I loved all three of them so much.

I'm legitimately sad this story is over. It was so cozy and fun, I could've listened to another 10 hours of it. I've been slowly making my way through all of April Asher's stories. This was a nice reminder that I need to revisit her Supernatural Singles series.

It's impressive that all of these magical beings are so relatable and likeable. And there's a really nice balance of exploring romantic relationships, friendships and familyships. There were arcs and growth in all of them. I also think the progression of the second chance romance was perfectly paced. I want to reference some of my favorite bits, but I don't want to spoil anyone.

Loved the narrators. Both use pseudonyms for this book, but I'm generally a fan of both of them.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC.

Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook arc. I will start off by admitting that o don’t normally go for witch stories, but the banter in the book just kept me hooked. The plot was well done and definitely a cute witch romance book.
