Bastien is an enforcer of sorts. He keeps the bad men in the city in line, making sure they follow the rules set forth by the Fifth Republic. He’s not known for being in a relationship. But when he meets Fleur he’s definitely interested.

Fleur is a bartender living paycheck to paycheck after leaving her cheating ex. Her ex husband is an a** he is giving her trouble and all she wants to do is move on.

After one night with Bastian, Fleur is hooked and keeps going back.
Bastian is offering her security, protection, and passionate love. Fleur is not sure if she is ready to jump into another relationship so close to her disastrous last one.

It does end on a little bit of a cliffhanger, their story continues in the next book.

I really enjoyed this book. I am looking forward to the next one! I need to hear more of their story.

If you are looking for a steamy, dark romance, this is the book for you. I did struggle to connect with the characters. I also felt that some scenes with Bastien at work were cringey. But if you are looking for a spicy book, this one will scratch that itch!
