The boys in Scott House know they’re special, but not how or why. In an alternate England where nobody won the Second World War, things are very much not what they appear. Although the reader probably understands what is happening before Vincent does, the story unfolds so steadily and carefully you just have to keep reading. There’s a gentleness and thoroughness in the world-building here, and Chidgey never sets a foot wrong.
