I have been dying to read The Monster and the Last Blood Match and was so happy when I saw it being re-released. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. It was very repetitive and I didn't much care for the heroine, Reyna. I found her immature and a few shades away from being too stupid to live. It annoyed me how she kept referring to Beckham as reacting violently and yet there was no evidence of it. I would've loved to have gotten insight into Beckham. He felt flat and bland to me. All the characters felt like caricatures of character archetypes. Another thing I wasn't fond of was the telling rather than showing. For these reasons and the fact that I wasn't enjoying this book I dnfed at 41%.

K.A. LINDLE always coming in hot with the fun. I enjoyed this book entirely and will absolutely be recommending it to multiple people.

I have to say first that I am a person that LOVES vampires but is literally terrified of needles. Pass out, can't look, down for the count kind of terrified. So let me just say, this was a DOOZY to read. I had to put the book down in the first few chapters because it was making me lightheaded to think about with the descriptions.

No, I'm not cut out to be a juice box.

I am a HUGE KA Linde fangirl, but 'The Monster and the Last Blood Match' had me feeling... conflicted. The premise of humans as currency in a vampire-dominated society has serious potential, but the execution felt a little off? There were just a lot of weird plot holes or things that didn't really make sense that I pushed down but still came back.

Reyna as our FMC is frustratingly all over the place, and I didn't even want her to like the MMC because the spark just wasn't there, while Beckham himself made me want to throw my kindle across the room by being genuinely just... rude and putting her in danger repeatedly. I am ALL FOR enemies to lovers, but it was really hard for me to find redeeming characteristics about him. I didn't even want Reyna to end up with him (maybe just run off into the sunset alone and rich??) because of the amount of other women that were paraded around in front of her and served solely as a point of conflict.. There was social commentary trying to peek through that I really loved and was here for, but it just felt too surface level to be impactful.

I think if we could have gotten mutli-POV to understand Beckham's reasoning for things he did, I would have been more accepting of him.

This might not have been a total hit but I still have total faith and trust in KA Linde. They can't all be the best.

I love me a good vampire book and this one did not disappoint.
Beckham is everything. He is broody, dark, mysterious, and one hot vampire. He might be keeping secrets but you could tell he felt something for Reyna right away.

This story had me intrigued with having a human be a “permanent” to a vampire. Seeing Reyna be that for Beckham and her figuring how to live this new life was a fun journey to be on. I love her compassion for people and her sass towards Beckham. While Reyna would keep finding herself in life threatening situations, Beckham was always there to protect her.

This book is full of twists and turns and that ending left me gasping. I need to know what happens next!

K.A. Linde… what have you done to me?!?! I wanted to read this until after Robin on the Oak Throne (Monster and the Last Blood Match is set prior to the events of Wren in the Holly Library), thinking, hey I was emotionally destroyed theres no way I have any left in me… whelp, I was wrong. Very wrong. This book lived up to everything I expected and more, introducing us more to the world and giving us even higher stakes. I’m pretty sure I threw my kindle no less than 3 times, and I was absolutely bawling by the end. K.A. Linde has this way that she writes that immerses us in the world, and I regret nothing in admitting the things that happened while I read.

In a world where vampires are in power and humans are currency, we see how the upper echelon lives, and how the mighty may fall. For book 1 of 3 of the Blood Type Series, we glean so much from the writing, from craving more with every page turn to maybe not actually knowing who the real villains are. The twists and turns that we don’t see coming will throw anyone for a loop, and the end well…. You just need to read it to find out.

Please read the content warnings before reading this book, it starts hot and heavy out of the gate, but if you are up for it, it is worth every second.

Thank you Entangled for the opportunity to read this ARC early in exchange for this review!

This was a really great read! I loved Reyna. A strong FMC is always a plus. The ending had me wanting the second book so bad! I can’t wait to read book 2.

I missed the paranormal romances in my life!

Reyna takes a job as a blood escort in a world where vampires call the shots. Her new boss is a rich, broody vampire who refuses to drink from her.

This book is so fast paced and had so much drama. A billionaire vampire meets naive heroine?! So fun.

The tension between Reyna and Beckham is so good…neither of them can stay away.

This is definitely not a standalone so be prepared!

Thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC!

This book was not what I expected, but it was literally unputdownable! I love vampire books so as soon as I heard that K.A. Linde had one coming out, I had to get it. For some reason I thought it was a prequel to The Wren in the Holly Library but I love that this is going to be a continuous series. So a romantasy with vampires? Sign me all the way up! I absolutely cannot get enough of Reyna and Beckham! Reyna takes a job as a blood escort for Beckham, only he refuses to actually feed from her. The entire dynamic was full of surprises and twists. Reyna is such a strong, dynamic heroine and Beckham plays the dark, brooding MMC so very well. Linde did an amazing job with the world building and character development, so it’s not just a “spicy vampire story.” This story takes place in a world full of desperation and violence. The humans are doing what they have to to survive. The vampires either want to drain them or just coexist. There’s a lot of unrest between the vampires who just see people as food and the ones who just want to live their lives in peace. and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series!

*ARC Review*

Thank you to Entangled Publishing, and Red Tower Books for the arc for review!

This was yet another amazing dark romantasy from this author. If you love vampires and monsters, you will love this book!

This story follows a human named Reyna as she enters the world of vampires. She is offered a position by the company known as Visage where she is partnered with a vampire based on blood type. In exchange for living with the vampire permanently and allowing them to feed on her, she is paid a considerable wage. Upon signing the contract she meets her vampire partner, Beckham. He is one of the higher ups within Visage who is very cold and distant.

There is so much yearning in this story and the spice is next level. I really enjoyed my time with this book and could not put it down. DO NOT sleep on this story! Very deserving of five stars.

The Monster and the Last Blood Match is the first book in the Blood Type Series by K.A. Linde. It’s a dystopian, paranormal romance that is fast paced and will have you binge reading to see what happens next.

Reyna Carpenter is desperate to help her near starving family. She can’t find work and doesn’t have the means to attend college. Enter Visage, the blood escort service. Reyna takes on a high paying position as Beckham Anderson’s permanent blood escort and is shocked to find the job is nothing like she expects.

The Monster and the Last Blood match is chock full of intriguing characters and twists and turns that will get your blood pumping. I love that Reyna is not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for herself. There is so much tension between Reyna and Beckham throughout the story and it is definitely a slow burn, however the book is extremely fast paced overall and a quick read, so even though the burn is slow, you won’t feel like you’re waiting forever. If vampires and paranormal romances are your jam I would definitely give this series a read.

Thank you Entangled: Red Tower Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I knew I loved K. A. Linde's writing style going into this book; having read and loved two books set in this world, I couldn't wait to settle into this one.

When I say I wish I could give this more than five stars I mean it, this world is quickly becoming my favorite escape and one I look forward to reading more of.

Now, on to the good stuff: this book is fantastic; the story, the setting, the spice, all of it is pure perfection in my mind.

I've read a few... well, a lot of books that involve the vampire... well, food relationship, and this is the first time I've felt like it was how it's supposed to be, the tension, the angst, the banter, it just made for a wonderful reading experience.

Reyna and Beckham are so much fun to read together; I hope there will be an audiobook version of this because I'd love to hear the way some of those scenes went.

If you're looking for monsters, vampires, or just a terrific story, give this one a try, I'm counting down the days till I get my hands on more of her fantastic stories.

Now, before you ask where I got this one, it's available for request on Edelweiss. And thank you for the ebook, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts are my own.

WOW, just wow. I have always loved a well done vampire story, but The Monster and the Last Blood Match took it a step further with its dystopian themes.
From the first chapter, I was so eager to learn more about Reyna and why she felt like she had no other choice than to turn to a company that employs humans as food sources to vampires. Little does she know, that a new program has begun and she is placed smack dab in the middle of what could turn out to be a war between humans, vampires and those in power.
Beckham is a high ranking executive with Visage and when he finds out that a permanent blood match has been found, he decides to employ Reyna and has her move in to his penthouse. He is extremely stand offish at first, but there are glimmers of a magnetism between he and Reyna that soon neither can deny.
I loved all the class politics within this book. The constant grapple with what should be done to ensure all parties coexist peacefully and with some sort of dignity is something that both Reyna and Beckham struggle with. There are so many layers and power plays within that make it so interesting.
The push and pull between Reyna and Beckham (along with some other outside forces) is so much fun to read. Reyna is so feisty and you can tell that although Beckham is highly stoic, he likes Reyna's attitude and energy. The slow burn is so intense between the two and I absolutely loved it!
And then the ending 👀...I am so excited to continue the series when Book 2 comes out later this year.

You may want to sink your teeth into this one if you like humans and vampires, slow burn and tension, secrets

Who thought it would be a good idea to let me start this book on a Friday Night when I had nothing to do the next day and couldn’t sleep? Oh, right me. I thought it would be a good idea. I ripped through the first 40% of this book in one night while listening to the soft murmuring snores of my dog and was absolutely itching to get back into it when I woke up the next morning. When I say it was lucky for the things that I had to get done that my kindle needed to be charged and I could tuck it away, I really do mean it, because the moment I finished up everything that needed to be done, my face was pressed back against that kindle screen.

I don’t read as many human/ vampire books and sometimes I forget how much I love them. With the delicious tension and slow burn that I’m quite sure you probably could have cut with a knife going on in this book, I was hooked. There were a few things I caught on to part way through but most of it hit me like a baseball bat as I rounded a corner, especially when I wasn’t looking at the percentage and I flipped the page to see the acknowledgments. I may never recover, if anyone would like to help - I’m a size book 2, thank you.

I ate this book up so fast and can't wait to get seconds when book two comes out! This is the first book in The Blood Type series and ends on a cliffhanger.

It is told from Reyna's POV, our brave and inquisitive main character, and her journey into the world of Visage when she is paired as a Permanent blood donor for a senior vice president of the company, to a vampire named Beckham. She comes from the warehouse district, living in destitution, and joins the program as a last ditch effort to relieve the burden from her brothers, her only family, from having to work themselves to death trying to take care of her.

She is overwhelmed when she is immediately whisked away from her simple life, into the city and a life of luxury, not knowing anyone, the rules of the elite, or how to navigate her living arrangements with her broody and secretive Sponsor, Beckham. At first, terrified of what her job entails, having grown up with prejudice against vampires, she begins to grow frustrated with both uncertainty and attraction towards standoffish Beckham and his mysterious nature. She also begins to suspect that Visage may have ulterior motives when it comes to humans and their business practices.

I loved the character development for Reyna, which was expected, going from naive to knowing too much. Beckham's character does a total turnaround towards the end of the book, and it is almost like reading about a totally different person. The slow burn romance had me frustrated, but rooting for them to figure it out! The world building was very descriptive and well written. From the warehouse district, the city, or to the underground, I could picture to surroundings vividly. This was a great beginning to a series and left me wanting to read more.

This book is so good! I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down. I adore Reyna and Becks. They have a slow burn romance that's filled with delicious tension. It's definitely worth the wait! And that ending has me wanting to dive into the next book immediately. If you like vampire romance, I think you'll love this. I highly recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for allowing me to read this book ahead of release in exchange for my honest opinion.

Left us on a cliff hanging on by our teeny tiny finger tips. I CANNOT wait for book 2 to come along so I can BINGE READ that one as well.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – I couldn’t put this down

Okay… The Monster and The last Blood Match (Blood Type book one) completely wrecked me in the best way. I wasn’t expecting to fall this hard for a vampire dystopian romance, but here we are. I started it thinking I’d read a few chapters and then suddenly it was 2 a.m. and I was emotionally not okay.

Reyna is such a relatable main character—strong, smart, and trying to survive in a world that’s totally stacked against her. And Beckham?? Cold, powerful, mysterious, and somehow still completely irresistible. Their chemistry was everything. The slow burn, the tension, the stolen glances—I lived for it.

The world Linde created is SO unsettling but also so believable. The whole donor system is kind of terrifying, and I loved how the book explores power, control, and choice without ever losing the emotional core.

Also… that ending??? Excuse me while I scream into the void.

Highly recommend if you love dystopian vibes, forbidden romance, and morally gray vampire men.
