Thank you Net galley and Mai Coland.

Book two has definitely lived up to book 1 expectations.

While the pacing can sometimes feel a bit slow, the payoff is undeniably rewarding. The way the characters evolve over time and the subtle tender moments of healing are where the story truly shines. The ending, though bittersweet, is ultimately uplifting.

Can't wait to see more from this author!

What an epic ending to this trilogy! This series as a whole was unputdownable, but this ending? It was absolutely perfect and the world building was on another level. Mai is a talented author and I'm so excited to read more from her!

What an excellent ending to a fabulous trilogy. The characters continue to mildly confound me a bit with their nonsense, but I nonetheless love and support them, as they are still just fallible humans doing the best they can with the lives they have- interesting skills and powers included. They have created their own little family, full of petty betrayals and bickering, but also loyal and loving to one another and in the end they are willing to sacrifice for one another, and for their people.
Fast paced and fun, and easy recommendation for anyone looking for fantasy trilogy to enjoy... and possibly one with a little spin off in the mix? If I read that epilogue right?

Thank you to NetGalley for an E-Arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

I can't believe it's finished. This was such a great conclusion to the trilogy. I couldn't put this down.
I've been hooked on this series since the very beginning and I loved every minute of it. I am excited to read more from this author in the future.

This is the third book in the Broken Blades Trilogy. The series is based on a Korean-inspired romantic fantasy that has all the elements of adventure, romance and mystery with high stakes. Set in the mythical land of Yusan, where a ruthless immortal ruler known as God King Joon presides over injustice, oppression, and suffering of the people. The first two books were amazing and kept me engaged throughout so naturally I was eagerly waiting for the third book to come out. And the third book did not disappoint. This was an epic grand finale to this amazing story. At one point, I just wanted to continue to read and did not want it to end. Picking up right after the events of Four Ruined Realms, this book packed a punch with all the elements to make it as adventurous as possible. I love when the authors are able to do everything necessary for the plot including killing off the fan favorite characters. I love Mai's writing style and this one was paced so wonderfully. This trilogy is absolutely worth your time if you are looking to go for an adventurous, bloody and exciting ride.
Also, a huge thank you to Entangled Publishing for reaching out and sending me the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This story was pure magic. 🪄 The world building is rich, immersive, and steeped in mythology, which I absolutely adored. This was a fantastic ending to the trilogy! This book broke my heart but I loved it so much. 😭 Before diving in, I read the first two books in the trilogy, and I’m so glad I did. If you love fantasy and romantasy, you won’t be able to put this trilogy down! ❤️📚 This is a pulse pounding, emotional roller coaster ride!

This is the third book and it was well worth the wait I loved all three these books. I devoured them. They have the right amount of fighting for everything you love. It was amazing all the twists and turns and things you never thought it would happen. It had me crying a few times.

This is a wonderful conclusion to the trilogy. Absolutely loved it! It starts a little slow, but the ending more than makes up for it!

The character development in this series wasn’t as deep as I’d hoped. The first book hooked me enough to stick with it, but overall, the plot felt a bit too fast-paced and scattered. The found family aspect was sweet, but like much of the story, it could’ve been explored more fully. It always felt like it was right on the edge of being amazing, but never quite got there. It wasn’t the worst series I’ve read, but not the best either. These were my first books by this author, and I’d definitely give them another chance

An explosive conclusion! Like the others this final book is fast paced with twist and turns. It’s so easy to fly through the previous books and this was no exception. I loved this found family and will miss them dearly.

I’ve been here since the first book and am sad that this series is ending. I loved the intrigue, characters and adventure in every one of these books. Can’t wait to see what comes next for this author. It was an honor to read this arc. Just got my copy from the store. Thanks for the awesome ride. 5 stars

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc

More like Four Shattered Souls, because this book broke me! I was absolutely sobbing at the end.

Again, I truly appreciate the "Last Time On..." summary at the beginning! While I was reading this trilogy back to back, it is definitely nice to get a refresher on what happened in the last book. Also, getting a summary of the characters no longer with us was very sad, especially since we as the reader can see this at the beginning of the story before even some of our characters find out.

We watch our favorite group of liars reeling after the events of Four Ruined Realms, Mikail dealing with grief at watching Euyn d!e in front of him as well as coming to terms with his heritage. Unfortunately, Mikail isn't the only one grieving, as he needs to tell Sora the news that her sister Daysum, whom she is doing this whole quest for, has died as well. Not to mention that they all shortly receive news that Tiyung "died" in Idle Prison. So poor Sora has had it up to her ears in bad news. But no time to truly absorb all that, our now four liars have a new quest! This time, they need to find out what might happen to someone when they wield two relics, as Aeri has needed to do (and seems to freeze in place each time, perhaps visiting the road to the Kingdom of Hells?) Plus, they still want to kill King Joon. At least their goals from Five Broken Blades haven't changed. Plus, there are rumors that King Joon has actually died after the events from Four Ruined Realms (he didn't), and Count Seok (possibly worse that King Joon) has usurped the throne. Tiyung, not actually dead, has escaped Idle Prison, and is slowly making his way back to the liars after making a pit stop at the palace to visit his father. But his mother intercepts him and sends him away for his safety, where he runs into Hana again, the woman Sora loved while in poison school. So many twisted ties... And this time, betrayal comes from the new allies that our liars have tried to trust, rather that within our core group.

As the story continues, our liars are FINALLY able to achieve their primary objective and kill King Joon, Mikail also being able to wield two relics now, with nearly drowning being his costs. When Gaya is fighting for their independence, they can see they are clearly losing, and Mikail doesn't want to lose all of his people. The only way to save everyone is for someone to take on all five relics of the Dragon Lord, and it seems Aeri is the only one able to actually do this. Suddenly that prophecy she received in FRR comes back to haunt us, and we learn the terrible price if she chooses Royo over everyone. BTW, this is where the tears started falling and didn't stop...

The last thing Aeri is able to accomplish after settling the battle is to crown Sora the queen of Yusan, the only one able to possibly make the kingdom better. And with Mikail being the ruler of Gaya, they will be able to bring in unprecedented peace. So, in the end, our three liars go their separate ways, with possibly some hope for Sora and Tiyung to have a future together. And Royo is left determined to do whatever is necessary to bring Aeri back... Will he be able to? I certainly hope so! I loved their love story! While a relatively short one, they were devoted to each other, and Aeri only didn't choose Royo in the end because it would result in everyone's death.

While I definitely cried with this story, I loved it! So many emotions, and a fitting end to a winding journey for Royo, Aeri, Sora, Tiyung, Mikail, and Euyn. I am sad to say goodbye!

Some favorite quotes:
Losing a loved one can send you to a place worse than death.
Broken hearts grow thorns as they stitch themselves back together.
I love Sora from the arch of her foot to the depths of her soul. I love all the ways she's strong and every weakness. I'd know her in a hundred lifetimes, and I'll love her through all of them.
Mikail has been taunting death since Euyn was murdered. We have to stop him because eventually, Lord Yama accepts all offerings.
Around fifteen minutes later, Sora comes out in a white robe, her hair in a turban. Gods, she's still beautiful damp with no hair. What kind of unfair sh!t is this? (seriously Aeri? Love this girl's sarcasm and inner monologue)
But with Euyn I could lose myself in the way that being in love absorbs you completely. Not only sex but the voracious way loving someone ties your souls together. And now, I'm just unmoored.
People say there can't be love without trust, but you're never more vulnerable that with someone who has your heart.
My heart can't take it. I wish I could just rip the organ from my chest. It would make things a lot easier. But I need her heart now, too, in order to go on. Love, or whatever this is, is a fvcking fool's game. (throwback to a quote from FBB!)
If I'd known all it would take was an assassination attempt to get Royo talking to me again, I would've paid them myself.
It must be hard to be a woman like Hana--so intelligent and yet constantly underestimated.
Love and loyalty go hand in hand with dishonor and betrayal.
Bravery isn't the absence of fear; it's persevering despite it.
Remember that people with good hearts are but pawns in the games of god kings.
She's around my height, but she looks taller because she's all curves in the right places, where I am a fancy twig. (love Aeri!)
"Vengeance is fire without warmth. And you deserve warmth."
Ten fvcking Hells, we're stealing sh!t again? This never goes well, but I guess we have to get it right once?
Only Aeri is making a sound right now. She's slurping down noodles without a care in the world. (also love Royo's commentary!)
"People see muscle and mayhem and they don't realize how observant you are, how you analyze a situation. It's like a secret power."
"Let's go and be villains."
Even the strongest blades can break.
"I want all of you." "Only if you give everything to me."
I gesture to the two of them. The relics have tried to kill them. Time turned against Aeri, and now water is drowning Mikail. I don't know why he thinks five relics would be a fvcking picnic, but he's wrong. She'll d!e. All of the ether put together is gonna k!ll a human being.
"I don't want to do this. I want tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow with you. I want to annoy you for the rest of our lives. I want boring days and warm nights next to you. I want to win every hard-fought smile of yours and to have your hand in mine for all time. I want to have kids and grow old with you. On a throne or not. Married or not. I just want you." "You have me. All of me." "But we're not going to get that life, no matter what. I wish we could have it. Gods, I wish we could. I'd live a thousand lifetimes by your side."
If she cut into my chest with Mikail's dagger and ripped my heart out, it would hurt less.
"I've waited my whole life to hear that. I love you, too." "Then stay with me." She looks away just slightly, because the answer is no. My heart breaks in two, and I know: it'll never heal.
I'm surprised I can actually feel him without a body. But it makes sense--we love with our souls.
"Mikail, you're worried about the wrong things. I used to do the same, but you and I, we're meant to be. You were a Gaya village boy who found me in Qali. I will find you again."
"You are everything this realm needs. And nothing it deserves."
We were both ready to d!e, but perhaps it's braver to live on after loss.
We only won by him losing the person he loves the most. It's not much of a victory when it costs your heart.
"I'll love you for tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow."
Somewhere the road to hell exists, and I've got nowhere else to be.

If you want a finale with morally grey everything, slow destruction, devastating betrayals, found family torn apart, rebels vs kings, final twists that change everything, and a legendary adventure, check out Three Shattered Souls and the entire Broken Blades series!

This last book in the broken blades trilogy was my favorite of the three. There was more character development and depth to the story. Overall though, this series fell flat for me. The writing was very in your face and not subtle at all. It felt very "tell, don't show" which made the story not as interesting to read. There was so much betrayal and lying to the point where I felt like I had whiplash. These books are fast paced and something is constantly happening. However, I would rather the story move bit slower and focus more on character development and storytelling. A lot of the action scenes didn't feel necessary to move the plot forward.

The found family trope in this series is sweet and the ending of this book had a lot of very heartfelt moments and I do think the ending was well done. This was a great conclusion to this trilogy.

Wow. This entire series is wrapped up so beautifully in Three Shattered Souls. I had the opportunity to read the entire series start to finish in one go, as I waited to start until Three Shattered Souls was about to release, and it truly was fantastic.

This is a story about family that goes beyond blood- finding those people in life who are truly "your people" even if it may not seem like it at first. The bonds developed in the first two books continue to grow even closer in this exciting conclusion to the series. Don't worry, they'll continue to pull on your heart strings too. Some of the things I was so hopeful would never come to pass, did. However, so did things I really hoped would happen. Even the tough things were written so beautifully that I couldn't put this book down. I read it in less than 72 hours (which as a mom of 6 who works full time is really saying something!).

This story weaves gods, relics, knowledge, politics, war, love, espionage, treachery, and more into an amazing adventure that will keep you reading even when you should be sleeping.

If you've read the first two books, you already know you need to read this one. If you've not yet started on Mai Corland's amazing tale- this review is your sign. It's time to start reading Five Broken Blades so you can feel all the feelings once you get to Three Shattered Souls.

I was lucky enough to receive an eARC from Entangled Publishing, but I promptly went out and purchased the physical book- it's that good!

What an incredible ending to the Broken Blades trilogy. If you haven’t read books 1 and 2, go back and do so now! It’s hard to believe it’s over but I have hope for a spin off??

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC. All opinions are my own 🫶🏼

I really hope this isn’t the last time we will be seeing these characters. I thought the author said that this would be a five book series and then it suddenly became three. This whole series has been such a joy to read. I’ve loved the writing, the world building, and the characters. While I think this last book seemed a little rushed, especially at the end, I enjoyed the book overall. I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author because they have become an auto buy for me after finishing this series. If you love fantasy, found family, and roads trips with adventures, this series is for you.

Three Shattered Souls was an emotional rollercoaster. This book did a number on me. It wrecked me in ways I'm still coming to terms with. I loved it but I need to recover. It was undoubtedly an epic ride packed with heartache, triumphs, action, love, sacrifice and so much more. This trilogy was amazing. I very highly recommend it. I cannot wait for the spin-off I know it's going to be just as epic or even more so.
