I have been a huge fan of Kat T. Masen for years and was excited to hear she had a small town romance book in the works! Blend small town romance in with second chance, best friends brother, billionaire and enemies to lovers and you have the perfect mix for How to Break My Heart!

This story about Eva, a bakery shop owner falling in love with her high school crush (her best friends brother!) all over again. Set in Cinnamon Springs, a quaint small town near New York City we are introduced into a whole new cast of characters. As Eva's best friend Maddy is getting married and Eva must work with Maddy's brother Aston, her former crush who broke her heart, to plan the wedding. Not only will you fall in love with Cinnamon Springs, but you will also fall in love with the characters who live in the town as well. The quick wit of Eva throughout the book was hilarious and I loved the banter between Eva and Aston as they fell in love with each all over again. This book has plot twists, evil villains, and even some cameo's from Kat's other books!

We are introduced to the wonderful world of Cinnamon Springs with a new cast of characters for Kat to write about! I can't wait to see more about Maddy, Billie, Elliott and Marco!

Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for my ARC!

Masen’s How to Break My Heart had potential - the hunky billionaire comes back to the small town baker and they reignite their secret high school crush.

However, interactions between the Everleigh and Aston are toxic and sex centric from the beginning. In fact, the only relationship that is at all functional is that between Maddy and Everleigh. There is no character development to justify (not that controlling, obsessive behavior is ever justified) the actions of the characters.

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

How to Break My Heart by Kat T. Masen is a charming and engaging small-town romance that blends second-chance love, best friend’s older brother tension, and just the right amount of steam. Set in cozy Cinnamon Springs, the story follows Everleigh and Aston as they reconnect years after a pivotal kiss that went unanswered—until now. The emotional arc is framed beautifully by a curated playlist that adds depth and atmosphere, and the story’s pacing makes it hard to put down. While I found Aston’s jealousy a bit over the top at times, and wished for more insight into his past feelings and motivations, the chemistry between him and Everleigh still shines. Some side plots, like Marco’s role and Maddy’s decision not to marry, felt underdeveloped, but they add intrigue for future installments. Overall, this was a sweet, steamy read with heart, and I’m excited to see where the series goes next.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for this advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was not my cup of tea at all. I wanted to like it, but I did not.. the reason I wanted to let this book because it was an ARC and wanted to give the book a good review. I am so sad that I did not like this book because of some of my favorite tropes. But the way that it was paced plus how short it was just not it.. I wanted to love this book so much but I just could not do it. I would like to think the author and the publishing company for allowing me of opportunity to be able to read this book. Thank you.

I'm so happy that Kat T Masen written another new series. Aston Beaumont and Everleigh Woods are my next favorite couple after Lex & Charlotte and Amelia & Will. I love my best friend's older brother(a billionaire) trope. The love story between Aston and Everleigh was filled with angst, yearning, and chasing dreams. Aston broke Everleigh's heart when they were in their teens and from there, they went on with their lives until Maddy's whom is Everleigh's best friend and also the younger sister of Aston were getting married. The wedding plans have brought them together again and this time temptations were given in and another chance for their feelings to be rekindled again. I'm so happy that Lex, Charlotte, Amelia, and Will made an appearance in this book. I can't wait for the next book.

Parts of this are good, but it's pretty uneven and the main hero seems to be written as though men are all secretly weird and controlling? So that was not my favorite. I liked Eva and the donut shop and most of the vibes of the town, but a lot of this really felt like what the author THOUGHT a book tok book should sound like but was actually kind of retrograde.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley.

This book was a great mix of sweet and spicy. The characters were all really well written - again, a great mix of good and bad. I’m glad to see this is the first in a series bc I would love to see where the other characters end up!

This story takes place in a small town. The heroine, Eva, being a cafe owner, and the hero, Aston, being a billionaire that lives in NYC but grew up in this small town. Aston’s little sister’s wedding brings him back to the town and forces him to work with Eva.

This book was just okay for me. I enjoyed some aspects of the story, but really had a hard time believing the love story.

Aston is honestly insufferable. He’s rude and treats our heroine horribly. And I’m sorry but I just don’t believe that one kiss in high school could make her look past the way he’s treating her in the present day. I love a grumpy, possessive hero but it just was not done well in this book.

I did really enjoy Eva’s character, and loved most of the side characters/small town charm. If the hero had been just slightly better to Eva, this could have been a hit in my book.

3 stars. Thank you to Atria and NetGalley for my ARC!

How to Break My Heart delivers all the feels with its blend of small-town warmth, witty rivalry, and undeniable chemistry. Eva is a charming and down-to-earth heroine whose quiet life gets shaken up by the return of Aston, the one who got away. Their love-hate dynamic is full of sparks, and the emotional layers beneath their banter make their journey even more compelling. Kat T. Masen crafts a story that’s both fun and touching, perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers with a deeply romantic twist. A truly satisfying read!
Thanks to Netgalley and the author for the chance to read thsi book in advance.

This book has me in a chokehold since the first chapter, there is no surprise there, after all, is Kat T Masen's writing.
The banter and the tension between the characters were nerve-racking and exhilarating.
Aston loved to push Everleigh's buttons, he knew how to bait her, and that was his love language. As long as he got a reaction out of her he was happy, this man didn't know how to love, and his character development was top-tier. He was possessive, obsessed, and head over heels in love.
Everleigh is just amazing, a strong and determined woman who goes above and beyond for the people she loves. She fought her feelings for Aston but it was useless, these two were soulmates.
Their relationship was explosive, passionate, and filled with second chances and forgiveness.
The plot, the characters, and the spice were extremely well excuted.
I loved this book, I can not wait for the next one!

This book was so good!! I enjoyed the characters and storyline. It’s one of my favorite tropes. Best friends brother! The banter was good and the story was good as well. It moved quickly and pulled at my heartstrings. Although the dad in the story was the biggest villain. It’s sweet and I’m glad that the MMC finally figured out his life!! Well done!!

I liked this book about a small town enemies-to-lovers romance, but it took a while for me to get into it. I liked Everleigh and Aston's banter and how the author gave some backstory to understand their dynamic. I didn't care for the best friend, Maddy; she seemed like a spoiled brat. The book was fast-paced and at times felt rushed, but overall, I enjoyed it.

This book was amazing, and my first by this author! Perfect best friends billionnaire brother, with spice and family boardroom drama. Thanks so much for the ARC!! This checked all the boxes of my favorite tropes.

I really enjoyed reading this small town cozy story about our main female character and her best friends older brother. Set in the small town of Cinnamon Springs, Everleigh owns a small coffee and bakery shop. Growing up she developed a crush for her best friend's older brother, Aston, who on the night before he is set to graduate and leave town he essentially kisses her then goes ghost.

Time jump to several years later he now runs his fathers multi-million company and is back in town for his sisters wedding. Cue the forced proximity as he and Everleigh are forced to be around each other again to plan the wedding.
This book had several of my favorite tropes and was an enjoyable read with steamy moments, family drama, and great banter.

An incredibly sweet, crazy romance.
I truly enjoy all of Kats books. This one has become my new favorite.
Everleigh lives in the small town of Cinnamon Springs. Living their her whole life enjoying the small town, her business and friends.  She finds herself rehashing old feelings for her best friends brother. Who broke her heart so long ago.
Aston is a super successful (and sexy), business man in Manhattan. He finds himself summoned to help his sister plan her wedding with the help of her best friend. Even with his father scheming the whole time.
This crazy, fun, sexy, super sweet romance will truly have you hooked.
I couldn't put this book down.  It's one one my top faves this year.  Don't miss out on Everleigh and Aston, oh and Houdini too!
5 stars.  A must read.

3.5 Stars

I thought this was a super easy and light read, but not my favorite. It felt like the characters needed a lot of maturity for their age, and a lot of the writing felt repetitive. The Kiss scene that started it all felt like it could have been in much more depth because it felt super surface level, leading me to feel like Eva's reaction was a bit too over the top (regardless of the teenage hormones); Additionally, I felt like the Marco scene was a bit too random and didn't go too far, feeling like a space filler.

What I did like about the book was the chemistry between Eva and Aston. I felt like their back and forth was pretty good. Masen can weave together a beautiful love story of second chances and redemption (regardless of miscommunication).

Read if you like:
- Dual POV
- Misscommunication trope
- Second chance
- Best friend's brother

I have been a big fan of Kat T. Masen and have pretty much read all of her books. So when she announced that she had a new upcoming book, I jumped literally at the chance to be able to read an advanced copy and let me tell you, this book hit just like her Chasing Love, the Trouble with Love, and Craving Love series.

Aston and Everleigh's love story was great. The plot twists and the path to their happy ever after kept me on my toes. I loved how Aston called Eva by her full name and also his sister.

This was not a stay up all night book for me, I think my days of staying up all night reading books has passed, but I did finish it within a couple of nights. I sure hope she writes more of these characters into books and I love how the characters from the Chasing Love and the Trouble with Love made appearances in this book.

I absolutely devoured this book in a matter of 48 hours and I am obsessed!! Kat T. Masen does not disappoint ever, and I loved the Chasing Love and Trouble With Love cameos within the book. She had all the tropes that I love small town, Billionare, Best Friend’s Older Brother, and Love Triangle. I can not wait to see what becomes of this series and if you haven’t read her other books pick them up right now!! Please never stop writing Kat you are so amazing at what you do!
