Took me a sec to get into this one but once I did I was pleasantly surprised? I liked it more than I thought I was going to and actually cared about the plot outside of the romance. Was it a bit far-fetched at times? Yeeesss. But it’s a billionaire romance.. They’re all a bit far-fetched and I still eat them up every time.
The spice was hot and I liked their banter. The FMC wasn’t totally annoying like they normally can be in books like this so that was a huge bonus.

This billionaire small-town romance had everything I love ! Totally addictive ! I love all of Kat’s books and I loved seeing everyone’s favorite Lex & the gang! Can’t wait for everyone to read this one..

For being very trope-y, I enjoyed this fast paced read! I was really happy that the conflict between the two main characters wasn’t soooo devastating. I needed something that was just the right amount of everything and this book was just that! Thank you to NetGalley & Atria for the ARC!

How to Break My Heart was truly heartbreaking for this reader. One word- Aston. He was a jerk and I don’t care if the boy’s got money, he was a jerk who treated Eva wrong from the start. There were a lot of scenes and details sprinkled in the story that seemed unnecessary or didn’t make sense. Take for example that weird tattoo scene from the campfire? Aston gets marked and that’s it? I also felt like Maddy was really entitled to Eva and their friendship seemed like a personal perk for Maddy. The one person I felt bad for is Marco. Give him the love story he deserves!

2.5 stars.
Aston is the older brother of Eva’s best friend, Maddy, and also the subject of Eva’s long-standing, unspoken crush. Bound by her loyalty to Maddy, Eva has always kept her feelings at bay. However, when Maddy asks Eva and Aston to team up and help plan her whirlwind wedding in just one month, the boundaries Eva has carefully maintained start to blur.
As the trio dives into the chaos of wedding preparations, Eva is determined to focus on giving her best friend the perfect day, even if it means setting her own feelings aside. Yet, the close proximity and undeniable chemistry between her and Aston make it harder to ignore the emotions she’s buried for so long.
How to Break My Heart weaves an engaging story of love, loyalty, and the challenges of balancing friendship and romantic longing. Eva’s journey is both heartwarming and bittersweet as she navigates her own desires while prioritizing those she cares about.

I really enjoyed this story. I love romance and when it is so well done I cannot recommend it enough. This will definitely be one of those times. The plot was well written and the characters felt so real!

Kat does it AGAIN!!!
I absolutely LOVED this first book of her Cinnamon Springs series!
The buildup between Aston and Eva was everything!! It reminded me of Lex & Char for sure! This had my favorite tropes and it GAVE!!!!
I do love that we’re getting the small town vibe here, I love Eva’s donut shop idea, I love Eva & Maddy’s relationship, and I love how Eva & Aston’s story started in their teens.
I could NOT stand Harvey AT ALL but am glad things ended the way they did with him. I’m glad Aston & Maddy’s mom finally stood up to him also. Their story was crazy!
I am sooooo looking forward to devouring this series!
Thank you again Atria Books & NetGalley for this one!

This is the first book that I have read by Kat T. Masen and I absolutely fell in love with it! I finished this read in ONE DAY! I love the slow burn and angst between Everleigh and Aston! This grumpy/sunshine story is one I would definitely recommend to my friends!
Thank you Kat T. Masen, Atria Books, and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Set in the charming small town of Cinnamon Springs, this book has all the makings of a perfect escape read—swoon-worthy tension, witty banter, and just enough emotional depth to tug on your heartstrings.
Eva, a café owner with a serious donut game, finds her peaceful routine upended when she's forced to collaborate with her high school heartbreak: Aston, her best friend’s aloof billionaire brother. What starts as an opposites-attract wedding planning partnership quickly morphs into a high-stakes emotional rematch. The chemistry between Eva and Aston crackles from their first snarky exchange to their inevitable first kiss, and Masen does a fantastic job walking the line between spice and sincerity.
While the plot follows some familiar romance beats, it’s the warm setting, endearing side characters, and the satisfying emotional payoff that make this story stand out. Readers looking for a feel-good romance with just enough angst and plenty of heart will find much to love here.

The characters in this book Eva, a baker who stayed in her hometown but seems stuck in some kind of arrested development. Best friend Maddy who is getting married and has to be planned in one month comes from some kind of evil wealthy family.
Aston, the best friends brother who is somehow into Eva from when they were in high school but is now a millionaire playboy.
It was too many tropes…somehow second chance but also insta love, grumpy and sunshine but is anyone actually grumpy.
It all got crammed into this book with some spicy chapters sprinkled in.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first read by Mason, and I enjoyed it for the most part. Unfortunately it just dragged a lot and didn’t keep my attention in the middle. Thankfully it picked up by the end and I would still recommend it.

How to break my heart???? Ugh this book was so good and it truly was unlike anything I have read before! I just felt so many feelings, it was so amazing

Thanks to atria books and NetGalley for this arc!
If you like small town, billionaire romance, best friends brother, this is for you. At times it felt like the book was a little too long in certain spots, dragging things out that didn’t need.
But, like i said, if you like small town billionaire romance, enemies to lovers, best friends brother and the third act break up, you’ll love this.

This had all the right things for me—best friend’s brother, childhood crush, small town, second chance romance…but it fell a little flat for me. Eva felt kind of bland. Aston was a jerk; I didn’t see why she would even like him until the very end, at which point his actions seemed out of character. Maddy seemed like a bad friend for the majority of the book. The town seemed cute, wish I was more invested in the couple.

How to Break My Heart was a cute small-town billionaire romance. This book checks all the boxes - slow burn, banter, shefallsfirstbuthefallsharder, 🌶️🌶️, and a third act breakup.
I wish we had seen more from Aston’s POV and his character development as he fights for what (and who) he loves. I’m secretly hoping the next book is about Eva’s brother and her best friend Billie 👀
Thank you for the opportunity of an eARC, and I am leaving this review willingly.

I would give this a solid 3.5⭐️ because the vibes were outstanding and I personally loved the banter between Aston and Everleigh! The small town vibes were cozy and the name of the town “Cinnamon Springs” just invokes happiness and comfort. This was a cute and really quick read and great if you’re looking for something fun and sweet!

I thought this book was just ok. The book felt all over the place and there was a lot crammed in which made it confusing in spots. I really did not like any of the characters and didn't really see the connection between Ashton and Eva. I did like the small town vibe and of course the donut shop. I wish we could have seen more of Eva and Billies relationship and less of the drama/ spoiled behavior. Overall, I think this was a miss for me but I'm open to reading more from the author in the future.
In How to Break My Heart, we meet Eva who owns a donut shop in the small town of Cinnamon Springs. Her best friend Maddy just announced she is getting married so Eva needs to team up with Maddy's older brother Ashton to help plan the wedding, which is in 1 month. It turns out Ashton broke Eva's heart long ago in high school but it seems there are some lingering feelings from both of them. They both try to navigate their feelings while trying to make Maddy's wedding the best day for her.
Thank you Netgalley and Atria Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This one was really not it for me. I found Aston to be the biggest asshole who at no point showed any redeemable qualities and Eva talked and acted like a high schooler. The wedding planning storyline was so ridiculous and Maddy was a spoiled brat. I think this one was just a big all around miss for me unfortunately.

If you love emotional roller coasters, second chances, and sizzling slow burns, How to Break My Heart is your next must-read. Kat T. Masen delivers a heartfelt, angst-filled romance set in a small town full of familiar faces-and some long-buried feelings.
This story follows Eva, a no-nonsense donut shop owner with a sharp wit and a guarded heart, and Aston, her best friend's older brother turned grumpy billionaire. Years ago, they shared a kiss that ended in heartbreak. Now, they're thrown back into each other's lives while helping plan a wedding, and every encounter is laced with tension, unresolved emotions, and undeniable chemistry.
Masen does a fantastic job weaving together themes of love, loss, and redemption. Aston carries the weight of family expectations and emotional baggage, while Eva's quick to write off men after one bad date too many. But the magnetic pull between them can't be denied. Watching them navigate their shared past, present chaos, and very complicated feelings was both heartbreaking and heartwarming.
While there were moments where Aston's possessiveness felt a little intense, the emotional depth and chemistry more than made up for it.
If you're into:
* Enemies to lovers
* Best friend's brother
* Small-town drama
* Billionaire grump vs. sunshine heroine
* Forbidden love
...this book is for you.

How To Break My Heart had all the tropes we have grown to love or maybe hate to love. We had enemies to lovers, billionaire angst, small town, best friends brother, just all those gooey things that make us fall in love with a book. First off Kat did something i love, she gave us the back story in the beginning, no waiting mid book to figure it out. She got us right to point & when that book boyfriend fell, he fell. I loved Aston & Eva’s banter & the slow burn. The ties to the Edward’s was a nice touch as well. Cinnamon Springs is gonna bring us some great tea or in this case coffee. Overall Kat made me fall in love with the small town & Im sure it’s not gonna be the last time we visit it ❤️
