I really really enjoyed this book. First time reading a book by this author but won’t be my last. Some parts I did feel like it dragged on a bit but then it picked right up and that’s the only reason I gave it 4 stars. I’m a sucker for best friend’s brother plus grumpy/sunshine trope so this had me hooked. I really enjoyed Eva and Aston’s story. I hope there is more to come in this seasons cause Madalina needs her forever 💗

I admittedly had a bit of a hard getting into this, but once I did, I was addicted. Aston was hard to like at first. Aston is Eva's best friend's brother and they kissed many years ago with him just walking away. Thrown together to help plan his sister's wedding, old feelings surface and things go exactly where you think they will. Throw in an awful controlling father set on ruining his own kids, you have a compelling story.

This book focuses on the relationship between Aston, a billionaire, and Eva, his sister’s best friend as they navigate their relationship.
I could not stand the relationship between Aston and Eva. They were both terrible communicators. Aston treats Eva horribly. All the side characters are also very shallow and caricatures of real human

This book was filled with so much angst, tension and emotional drama. I loved it all!! Eva and Aston shared a kiss in high school and they both have secretly been pining after each other for years. Eva is best friends with Aston’s younger sister, Maddie. They both went their separate way, but now are reconnecting as they are helping Maddie plan her wedding. There is so much chemistry between Ashton and Eva. The more they work together the more the tension builds. It’s a roller coaster of emotions from their feelings to the family drama that Ashton has to deal with. A perfect angsty read.

This book wasn’t my cup of tea.

I found the synopsis to be fun and interesting, but the story itself wasn’t.

I’ll keep it brief as to not give anything away, but I didn’t really like Aston. He was sort of a jerk. Eva was okay but she was a strange main character. I felt like there were some cringe conversations and they always involved her. That birth control scene…yikes.

The writing itself didn’t flow for me. It was a bit choppy. This story read as a first novel, but this clearly isn’t this authors first rodeo.

Overall, if you’re a fan of this author you may love this book. This is my first novel from Masen, and it may be my last.

This book was phenomenal from start to finish. I first saw announcements on social media for the series and was intrigued. I got the email inviting me to read it early and I couldn’t put it down. It had everything in it: angst, slow burn, enemies to lovers (in a way), beat friend’s older brother, and a HEA. All wrapped up into a beautiful story. I am already waiting to see what the next book in the series will look like, as there’s side characters who I would be interested in reading about if they got their own books. Thank you for the opportunity to read such a great book. Aston and Everleigh were phenomenal.

On pause for now at 34%.

Aston’s personality is big yuck for me. Found myself rooting for hot doctor and wanting Aston to just go home. Not into the bitter, perverse, rude side of “grumpy” we are seeing here. I am sure he has some redeeming qualities, but I am not seeing enough of them to want him for Eva.

Once I started reading “How to Break My Heart”, I could not put it down! I love the enemies to lovers, forced proximity, the SPICE, best friends brother and the MFC is so easy to like. I noticed this is going to be a series, I cannot see what the other books have to offer us with Aston and Eva!

I love how it has a “Gilmore Girls” vibe to it only SPICIER. Donuts Ever After cafe, the closeness of Maddy and Eva, the billionaire lover and best friend, it’s all so well written.

I read the whole book the day I started it because it was just SO good. I’m so glad I found a new fabulous author! I will be sharing this on my TikTok as my first ARC read review.

I look forward to reading more of the authors books, this was my first book to read of Kat T. Masen and it will not be my last! Thank you so much for the opportunity to receive an ARC of this book!

ARC REVIEW!!!

I love a good second chance romance moment but this was not a favorite for me unfortunately. It was a cute quick read but it didn’t hook me as much as I hoped for. I did enjoy Eva’s character a lot she was such a good friend to everyone and was really trying to keep the peace throughout the whole book girly needed a break bad!! Aston was just not it for me though he seemed extremely cocky and didn’t have much character development at all. I also just wanted him to grow up and stop giving into his father at every single moment you are a grown man. There were some good moments though I loved Eva and Billie’s friendship they were so cute and I would have loved to see more of them! Overall not my favorite read but still could be fun for some!

Sadly had to dnf this one. The first chapter from the MMC’s POV featured men refusing to talk about womens’ periods and then objectifying the physical appearance of women. Not for me.

This book starts in high school when Eva has her first kiss with Aston, who happens to be her best friend’s brother. It ends poorly with him acting like he doesn’t care about her and then it jumps to their adult lives.

The chapter flashback seems unnecessary to me when all that happened was them kissing and then her feeling rejected, so I feel like this could have been summarized easily in the current timeline.

It picks up with Eva running a shop in their small town & Aston as a billionaire in Manhattan. He comes back to help plan his sister’s wedding and is paired up with Eva to do so. This book seems like it’s going for the trope where he seems like a jerk, but secretly isn’t. However, in my opinion, he just really is a jerk.

I could not stand Aston most of the book and Eva once she strung along & dropped the actually really sweet guy for the toxic man. I struggle with books where the solid & caring guy is labeled as boring and the guy that treats her horribly is the exciting risky “love of her life”. This was just not the book for me but thank you Netgalley & Atria Books for the ARC :)

Eva is tasked with helping her best friend Maddy plan her wedding. Of course eva gets paired with Maddy's brother Aston. Aston and Eva briefly had a thing going on back when they were in high school but it didn't end well. Maddy is unaware of aston and eva's past history. Add into the mix a possible love interest for eva, a doctor. If you have read any of Kat T. Masen's book, you will recognize some characters.

What a story. This is a story not only about the redemption after a broken heart, but also about true love. Eva and Aston shared a kiss when they were teenagers, and it did not end well. On top of that, he is her best friend's brother. Now she wants to avoid him, but circumstances have put them in each other's orbit once again. Forcing them together brings all of their repressed feelings to the surface. So many emotions run through this book, and me while I was reading. The story was well-paced, with strong characters. Eva has no problem standing up to Aston, and he does a good job of recognizing when he is wrong. Plus, this was also a steamy story. I thoroughly enjoyed and loved this book, and since this was a first for me by this author, I will look for more to read. Disclaimer: I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and Atria for an honest review.

The book was very cute. There was constant banter between the two mc which made it interesting. Many of the problems came from family troubles which was the factor of so much drama. Still enjoyed this and was able to finish quickly.
Thank you Netgalley for the arc.

The premise of the story is really cute. Very gilmore girls inspired. Small town. Cute street names. Best friend's older brother. All set up for a cute story.

In general, I liked the overall story & depth. I did not enjoy how possessive Aston was. His behavior was very atrocious for the majority of the book, even if he turned a leaf eventually. I'm not sure if his abrupt change is believable.

But, the plot was cute & rounded up nicely in the end. A lot of family drama & toxicity to unpack.

Thank you, Atria Books & NetGalley for the ARC.

This was a predictable, yet sweet romance. I didn't realize it was a series, and I will have to check out the books that follow. This was a new to me author, looking forward to reading some of her older work.

I liked the tropes in this but didn't jive with the writing style which is disappointing because I wanted to love this.

A big, fat thank you to Atria Books for inviting me to read this! I love me a good best friend's brother romance and throw in the 'it's always been you' or a billionaire mmc or the second chance trope and I'm a goner!
Eva and Ashton's chemistry was amazing and I loved their cute back and forth! I loved how she didn't give in to him too easily after what he'd done and god did I love seeing him pining over her!
This was an easy read and not really that long either. Reviews will be uploaded on my platforms soon!

Really enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance.

The setting, characters, drama and plot were very entertaining. I couldn’t wait to dive into the book each time I picked it up.

The romance was a well-paced enemies to lovers trope with plenty of steam. The dynamic is interesting and well written. The chemistry is very hot too.

Definitely for romance fans!
