Thanks to NetGalley for this arc copy.
We meet a variety of characters that all suffer with health issues and want to seek a cure, here arrives the remedy. Is the cabin in the woods and health care package to good to be true.
This book has a good plot twist and its clever with its themes of horror/ supernatural intertwined with a thriller. As a reader i was trying to piece things together and was quite shocked towards the ending. The ending really does explode with some action i can recall been in the last two pages and been like arghhh no it cant end ! The chapters are very easy to read and understand the characters different points of view for their own health journey.
The characters are all individuals with pain and health issues in common. The author did a good job of writing from some sensitive points of view and there are trigger warnings in here although i didnt find anything too upsetting.

Short, fast paced book. While entertaining the book was lacking more story line. And we don’t know what happened to the characters afterwards.

Thank you, Shade Owens NetGalley, for the ARC. I leave this review voluntarily and happily. Also, thank you publishers for your hard work!
This was definitely interesting. Had me guessing throughout the book. If you're looking for atmosphere and strangeness, this definitely will fit the bill. It takes a little bit for you to get to the spooky stuff, but the build-up is definitely worth it. You definitely get attached to some if not most of the characters involved. There are definitely eyebrow raising moments that have you questioning things and others that have your hair raising. Each character was definitely unique in their own way. They all had their differences, but I certainly only hoped for the best for them. I loved that the chapterwere short and quick. Not all books have to have super long chapters.
Five very different people got an invite to this retreat. A place to hopefully heal and get better. Nit one of them is like the other, and one even got dragged there. What is this place, and will the place really be able to do what it advertised? Will they all become pain-free and be able to live normal lives by the end of it all? Or is there something sinister going on beneath all of the treatments and smiles?
This is why you shouldn't believe everything you read or hear. It's a dangerous world out there, and it's just so hard to tell the good from the bad sometimes. This book was definitely interesting, and it was strange, but I still liked it how, at the halfway point, it completely changed for a bit.

Thank you NetGalley and Shade Owens for the opportunity to review the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I was immediately grabbed by the cover and had to request the ARC. It’s definitely a remedy she won’t forget.
Five strangers who all deal with disabilities have been chosen to partake in a holistic treatment plan in a forest village for twelve months. It’s soon clear this isn’t your average natural remedy. There’s something out there feeding off their pain.
A very quick read. I thought this was going to be more of a horror story but I wasn’t at all disappointed by the end. An ending I wasn’t expecting at all.

Five strangers, each battling their own chronic struggles, arrive at a secluded forest retreat offering a miraculous cure. For Audrey, it's a final hope after years of failed treatments. Initially, the sanctuary seems like a dream come true—serene surroundings and instant relief. However, as their stay progresses, the guests begin to suspect that the remedy might be more sinister than it appears. What was meant to heal could be feeding on their deepest vulnerabilities.
This book definitely has an interesting premise, and I was drawn to it as someone who has dealt with chronic illness myself. The themes explored in this book touched on just how far we would be willing to go when we have nothing to lose and how easily we can be deceived when we desire something badly enough, and therefore how easily we can fall prey to deception. The beginning of this book had decent pacing but it definitely slowed down quite a bit in the middle. Ultimately what was revealed, I was able to predict and fell flat, sadly. I thought so much more could've been done with this premise and it ended up basically being a Scooby doo ending with a lackluster motive--which was disappointing. Thank you to Netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for my review.

I had not read a book by Shade Owens but after reading The Remedy by her I'm disappointed that I hadn't started sooner. I'll be honest, I was very intrigued in the beginning, the story line gripped me right away. About a third of the way through and I wasn't sure if I was going to finish the book because I felt like it took a supernatural turn and that isn't my favorite genre. I decided to stick it out and was pleasantly surprised with the turn of events. The characters were all likeable and if they weren't likable then they were relatable. I was rooting for everyone to have a happy ending. I ended up thoroughly enjoying this book and would definitely recommend it. Thank you to Netgalley and Red Raven Publishing for the ARC!

I received an ARC of The Remedy, I was feeling like it was a little slow moving in the beginning but then it gained steam and keeps my interest. A twist will do that to you lol. My only complaint is I feel the ending left me with more questions.

Just when Audrey has had enough of life, sick of battling her chronic pain condition, she is offered a lifeline. A chance to spend a year at a holistic wellness centre where she will be treated using alternative medicine and the promise of a healthy future.
There are five people at the camp, all with debilitating health conditions, isolated personal lives and no hope left.
Everything seems idyllic, until one of the five disappears.
The tension and the twists were off the scale! Shade Owens is a stunningly talented author who always comes up with something a little bit different and always very dark. I devoured this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys twisty thrillers.
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Shade Owens and Red Raven Publishing for an ARC of this book.

Oksana is a drug addict who has had everything taken from her including her daughter. Audrey lives with chronic debilitating pain and is facing eviction. Rae has MS leaving her confined to a wheelchair. When they get an invitation to a 1 year retreat in the middle of nowhere with promises to fix their chronic condition they figure it is worth trying. When they get to the resort to join others they quickly realize things aren’t what they seem. But Rae can magically walk so it must be working right? Is this spiritual retreat really a miracle or is something more sinister at work here? I enjoyed this book and felt like it kept you wanting to read in order to find out what was really going on. I didn’t enjoy the spiritual part of the retreat as I felt that it was very far fetched but I really enjoyed the ending. I was surprised with the ending and thought that the ending was well written. I enjoyed Oksana’s character and really got to know her but I wish the other characters were described as well. Overall this was a good book and I recommend it to readers who enjoy suspenseful psychological thrillers.

Five strangers. One cure. And a nightmare none of them saw coming.
Audrey’s done being a lab rat. Years of doctors, pills, and promises—and still, her body’s a prison. So when an envelope shows up offering a last-ditch shot at healing her chronic pain, she takes it. No questions asked.
What’s the worst that could happen?
She’s not the only one clinging to hope. Four others arrive at the remote forest sanctuary, each battling their own private hell. The place is quiet, peaceful. The results? Instant. Miraculous.
Too good to be true? Of course it is.
Because this cure doesn’t just fix what’s broken—it feeds on it.

A new author for me. I liked the sound of this book when I read the description. I needed and wanted to start it right away. That is exactly what I did.
It was certainly a book that wanted to be read, the story dragged you in and leaves you wondering what next.
The characters were well written and the story told from each point of view. The characters are relateable and anyone suffering with a long term pain/disability could relate to the lengths you would go to get relief.
very well written and will keep readers engaged.

Shade Owens once again creates a perfectly eerie, original thriller I couldn’t stop reading. The story is the perfect combination of intensity, suspense, and a dash of horror. There is a constant sense of foreboding with creepy vibes from start to finish. The plot had countless shocking reveals with an ending that was jaw-dropping and unexpected. Shade Owens is an auto-read author who never disappoints. I highly recommend this book to thriller addicts who enjoy a spine-tingling surprise. Thank you, NetGalley and Red Raven Publishing, for my ARC.

shivers from Shade. that is what she should now be known as because that is what she gave me from this book. in all the best ways of course but dam i was almost peeking through some of the next pages. i felt the tension, i felt the unease and i felt like i must read on. whether i needed to read on to find out exactly where this was going to go or whether i was gripped to the story in the moment i dont know. either way who cares. i needed to read, i wanted to read and this was on hell of a book.
what came next was a book with a brilliant plot. brilliant telling of said plot and the twist, turns and unveiling throughout were spot on and paced to perfection.
i liked how the "patients" coming to this retreat to be healed all felt like they could be anyone we know,us infact. we get to know their stories either via themselves or discussions they have with the others. you can feel for them and what they have been through and you can also feel their desperation that something needs to change.
people need to read this book. its so good!

A thoroughly enjoyable read, and refreshingly different approach.
It tells the story from the perspective of the individual characters, with each chapter in a character's "voice" - what they see, what they think, do, say - with no central narrator putting an overall spin on things. I really enjoyed how the story shifts half way through as a new, key character is introduced.
The author very effectively builds the sense of mystery - what is the place? What are the motives behind it? How will this affect the characters? Things are gradually revealed in a very satisfying way.
So grateful to have been suggested this book, which I really enjoyed. Will share the review on Amazon, Goodreads etc once the book is showing on them.

Thank you to Red Raven Publishing, Shade Owens and NetGalley for allowing me to read The Remedy as an ARC.
I enjoyed the premise of The Remedy and was hooked on the storyline pretty quickly. The writing style was easy to read, the chapters were a great length, the cast of characters and multiple points of view were easy to distinguish. The story flowed at an enjoyable rate.
It did go a bit sideways for me when the brother entered the story, causing my interest to wane.
The reasons propelling Dr. Rednar to essentially kidnap, drug and murder people seemed quite far fetched. Her method of execution was an even farther reach for me. What a significant amount of trouble to go through for the end result. Why bother bringing in food and water, teaching them to clean and do their laundry, giving them tonics, having ceremonies, etc.? Why not just kill them on arrival if that's the simple end goal?

Five strangers. One cure. And a nightmare none of them saw coming. Audrey’s done being a lab rat. Years of doctors, pills, and promises and still, her body’s a prison. So when an envelope shows up offering a last-ditch shot at healing her chronic pain, she takes it. No questions asked. What’s the worst that could happen?! Final last words! What a chilling thriller! This book had great suspense, murder, mystery, kidnapping, gaslighting, and some crazy twists and turns! The story was interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

My first ARC book and the reason I signed up for NetGalley. I saw this book on the Facebook group Psychological thrillers and the cover caught my eyes. Then I read the description, which intrigued me even more and I went to NetGalley, created an account and requested to read it. So I think I want to first thank you, for letting me be able to do so.
Although this book is not my usual genre, I did find it very fast paced and easy to read. It kept me intrigued and wanting to continue to find out what happened. I think that is huge in a book, where you keep the readers attention and it did do just that.
I also appreciate that you make the readers well aware of the triggers beforehand. As someone who lost a loved one to addiction, I felt connected to those around Oskana in that way and helped me understand that part a lot more.
Some parts seemed a little far fetched at times and I felt cult vibes but it all made sense in the end and came together.
For all these reasoning, I did rate the book a 3. This is a book I probably would have never read but the cover and synopsis grabbed my attention and I am glad I did.

Thank you to NetGalley, author Shade Owen’s and Red Raven publishing for the ARC and opportunity to review this book.
I had high expectations about this one as it sounds like it was going to be a medical psych thriller. Sadly, it was more cult and sci-fi which really doesn’t interest me.
I felt there wasn’t much in the way of character development except for Oksana. The ending felt rushed and I feel the whole ‘angry spirits’ could have been left out.
I would have liked to know more about each character. We get little snippets of why they are there but nothing really develops into being able to like or dislike each character. I also would have liked the ending to delve deeper into each character after they left the ‘retreat’.
Overall, a good premise that fell short.
3⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was so good! The story is told from multiple points of view which I always love because it keeps things moving quickly. Most of the characters have a chronic illness and they decide to accept an offer for a healing retreat, which is where all of the suspense begins. This book has cult-ish vibes, psychological games and twists that keep things interesting. I did not want to put this one down and I’m a little sad it’s over!!

This book had me on the edge of my seat, truly not wanting to put it down. It lost a little steam in Part 2 with Ben's pov, but it picked right back up when one of the twists became evident. I absolutely loved the wide range of diversity available in this thriller; chronic pain, addiction, fibromyalgia (as someone with fibro, this was truly nice to see in a novel), differing economic backgrounds, and more. I absolutely plan to read more by Shade Owens, and I hope everyone else who gives The Remedy a chance enjoys the ride!
I'm super grateful to have been able to read this one early; thank you Shade Owens, Red Raven Publishing, and Netgelley for the digital ARC!

This psychological thriller was so good. This was the first psychological thriller by Shade Owens I’ve read. t had me on the edge of the seat for most of the book. Once I started reading 'The Remedy' I couldn't put it down. The characters are believable, the suspense tangible, and the backdrop well painted. I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley.
