Going into the book, I didn’t know this was the 4th in a series and while it’s fine as a standalone, I wish I would have read the other books first. I think it would have just added to the book. Definitely a book of opposites attract and there is no hiding from your person no matter how bad you know you come from different worlds. I really appreciated how the FMC and MMC were really able to see on another’s flaws and weaknesses and realize there was no need to hide because love would cover the gap and it’s ok not to perfect.

Thank you @NetGalley and @RBmedia for the ALA. I did not realize this was a series while listening, but I know I need to go back and start at book one. I loved Rome, he is hot and ruthless. Lili is a dancer a point in her life that she wants her life choices to be hers not her moms or her manager. Lili sees past Rome scars and bad boy life to the real him. Could not stop listening, the narrators are great.

Worth The Trouble

Oh my goodness!
This was such a good read!

So, for some reason, when I spotted this book, I was convinced that I recognised the author name (having read them before?) and just had to read this book!
It happens that this is actually the first book I've ever read by this author!? Who knew.

This is also book 4 of the series - Enemy Muse - and of course I've not read the rest.
But this read so well as a standalone read and focuses on Rome - a rock king - and Lili - a professional dancer.

I absolutely loved this whole vibe throughout.
A little forbidden romance, limited time period, opposites attract and evil ex topped off with a passion that nobody could deny.
I think that having the contrast of Rome's grumpy, bad boy image against Lili's perfect, cosetted good girl vibe worked to perfection.
It was pretty damn clear where this was heading - but seeing Lili overlook each one of Rome's red flags and him fall so hard was amazing.

I loved both of our characters and their complicated backstories.
There were some tough topics explored between them - creating an authentic narrative around each of their motivations and behaviours - and these played out beautifully.
Each of them opening up just a little for each other until all walls were broken down and their broken remains, accepted.

There was a great cast of other characters and it was clear from some of the scenes that each had had their own stories - no doubt explored within the rest of the series - and I just have to read them all!

There was no shortage of spice in this read and I was totally there for it all!
Loved the writing style and will definitely now be looking to read more from this author!

I listened to this on audio and the narrators were fantastic - such a great portrayal of the characters and had me totally hooked from start to finish - I devoured this in just over a day!

Worth Every Page!
Worth the Trouble completely hooked me! I’m a sucker for a good rockstar/pro dancer romance, and this one delivered everything. The chemistry between the main characters was electric — he’s a reformed man-whore who instantly senses she’s different, and their connection is just chef’s kiss. Add in a toxic ex to stir the pot, some seriously spicy smut (🔥🔥🔥), and unforgettable side characters who added so much charm and heart. The ending wrapped everything up perfectly — satisfying, emotional, and swoon-worthy. Eva Simmons absolutely nailed it with this one!

This is a review of the audiobook.

So I did not know this was part of a series before I read it. However, I don't think I missed anything important so I believe this series can be read as standalones.

Both narrators were great and I would listen to these 2 narrate a book together anytime.

I loved the almost instant bond between Lili and Rome. They were a great balance for each other and their chemistry was fantastic.

I’m doing this series backward. When I saw this, I just had to listen to it. I love Miss Simmons and the narrators did an amazing job. Rome is a man that doesn’t love. Lili is a girl that can’t love. Together, they show each other they can. I am really excited to go back and dive into the previous books.

I didn’t connect with the characters at all I didn’t care about them. The story was fine just not for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook arc. While the narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters to life, the book isn’t for me. While I love dark romance there’s a difference between dark and just vulgar. I’m 20% in and trying to convince myself to finish. I’ve lost track of how many times they say pussy and tits. This is a no for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Eva Simmons for the advance listen!

This was my first book by Eva Simmons, and definitely not my last. I really enjoyed this one. Rome and Lilly’s connection was intense—the kind that slowly tangles around your heart. There’s just something about the womanizer falling hard for one person, and Rome absolutely delivered. The way he spoke about music saving him? Hello, Riff King, I adore you.

Lilly tested my patience a bit in the middle—I'm not a fan of a pushover FMC—but she found her strength and I was cheering for her by the end. And Vonn? Hated him with my entire soul. Which means he was a well-done villain… even if I think he got off way too easy.

The narrators did a great job! I just wish there had been more true back-and-forth instead of them voicing each other’s parts—but the emotions still came through strong. The spice? Hot. The ending? Exactly what they needed.

If you love gritty, emotional, redemptive romances—especially ones that give rockstars with real hearts, this one is for you!

Content Warnings: Please check the provided TWs before reading as this story includes mature themes and explicit content.

If you’re in the mood for a quick, spicy romance with a swoony rockstar and a strong-willed dancer who sweeps him off his feet, this book is a fun ride. The chemistry between the leads sparks instantly (hello, insta-love!) and the tension builds into some seriously steamy moments 🔥 - this one definitely delivers on spice.

While I would’ve loved a bit more development in the relationship (things moved fast!), the story still gave me enough heart to stay invested. It’s a low-stress, easy read that would be perfect for a weekend binge or a break between heavier books.

Overall: Cute, steamy, and satisfyingly sweet with a side of backstage grit. 🎸💃

The fourth and final book in the series. Lili is a dancer and lost in her world. Rome helps her to see another part of life.

This is a whirlwind romance of a bad boy meets good girl and they both heal something in each other that they didn’t know they needed to heal

Delightful quick listen, the narrator did a brilliant job!

When I started reading this book, I did not realize that it was technically part of a series. However, it is completely fine as a stand alone! This book makes me want to read the other 3 books in the series! It was a classic enemies to lovers trope where the broken bad boy gets with the equally broken good girl. Their lives are completely different but they are still drawn to each other. This books contains a good amount of spice and romance and ends with a cute little bow. Overall, a feel good book of all girlies who love spice, romance, and duel narrators.

Thank you to NetGalley and @TantorAudio for this ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Worth the Trouble is the final book in the Enemy Muse series, and it was such a satisfying way to wrap things up. This one follows Lili Chen, a 22-year-old ballet dancer whose entire life has been built around discipline, schedules, and trying to meet her mom’s impossibly high expectations. She’s always known exactly what she should be doing—until Rome crashes into her world. Literally.

Rome Moreno is the lead guitarist of Enemy Muse, and he’s Lili’s complete opposite. He’s all about freedom, living in the moment, and not being tied down by anyone or anything. Where Lili’s structured and quiet, Rome’s more spontaneous and open, but somehow, they just work.

Their story is more than just romance it’s about growth and learning to let go. Rome helps Lili see there’s more to life than just checking boxes, and Lili grounds him in a way he didn’t realize he needed. I loved how their connection helped both of them grow into better versions of themselves.

Also, I really enjoyed the audiobook version of this! The dual narration was fantastic both narrators did such a great job bringing these characters to life. It made the emotional moments hit even harder and added so much depth to the story.

If you’ve been following the series, this is a heartfelt and emotional goodbye to Enemy Muse. Definitely worth the listen.!

Eva Simmons' "Worth the Trouble" strikes a compelling chord, delivering a passionate and emotionally charged romance that earns a solid four stars. This novel takes the classic "opposites attract" trope and infuses it with genuine depth, exploring the hidden vulnerabilities of two seemingly disparate individuals.
The initial meeting between Rome Moreno, the "Riff King" rock god, and our unnamed world-class dance princess, is a hilarious and memorable clash. Her immediate disdain for his rockstar antics, particularly his assumption that she's a stripper, sets a wonderfully feisty tone. It's refreshing to see a heroine who is decidedly unimpressed by the rock god persona, challenging Rome in a way he clearly hasn't encountered before. This dynamic fuels their early interactions with sparks and witty banter.
What elevates "Worth the Trouble" beyond a simple rockstar romance is the exploration of the characters' deeper struggles. The heroine's life is a meticulously orchestrated regimen, a "carefully timed clock" dictated by the sacrifices she's made for her dance dreams. This rigid existence stands in stark contrast to Rome's free-spirited, albeit scarred, world. As their paths intertwine, Simmons masterfully peels back the layers, revealing that Rome's "scars go a lot deeper than his tattoo ink." This shared understanding of pain and sacrifice creates a powerful connection that transcends their initial antagonism.
Simmons’ writing is engaging, pulling you into the whirlwind of their forbidden romance. The tension builds beautifully, making their eventual connection feel earned and incredibly satisfying. While the heroine's "sold my soul to the devil" predicament could verge on melodramatic, Simmons grounds it in a believable portrayal of the demanding world of professional dance. The stakes feel real, adding a poignant edge to their burgeoning relationship.
"Worth the Trouble" is a testament to finding unexpected solace and healing in the most unlikely of places. It's a journey of two people who, despite their vastly different worlds and personal demons, find a rhythm that is undeniably worth the trouble. If you're looking for a passionate romance with heart, genuine character development, and a rockstar who's more than just a pretty face, this one hits all the right notes.

I had to drag myself through this, it just wasn't entertaining in any way and the characters exchanged 3 sentences and they were already madly in love.

Fully my fault that I went into this without reading the first three books in the series. I don’t think I missed out on too much and was still able to follow the story easily enough. Though after reading this I’m not too sure I’ll go back and read them.
This story did nothing for me. I kept waiting to be rooting for the couple and honestly didn’t care for either of them much. And it just kept going in circles and I got bored. I finished because this is a review copy otherwise I don’t know that I’d have kept reading that far in.
Thank you NetGalley and Tantor audio for this alc

"Worth the Trouble" is the fourth and final book in Eva Simmons' Enemy Muse series, the story follows the unlikely romance between Rome, a tattooed rock god, and Lili, a disciplined ballet dancer whose life runs on a strict schedule.

What makes this story so compelling is the contrast between the protagonists' worlds - the structured, regimented life of a professional dancer colliding with the free-spirited world of rock music. The book tackles themes of personal freedom, healing from past trauma, and finding love in unexpected places.

If you enjoy contemporary romance with complex characters, emotional depth, and a rock music backdrop, this book delivers a satisfying conclusion to the series.

Thank you to Tantor Audio and Netgalley for the ALC of this book.

This was a super easy listen with a binge worth storyline. Classic bad boy rocker with a good girl fmc.

Both Rome and Lily have past trauma that pushes them closer throughout the story. Rome deals with trauma by being a playboy and Lily is trying to please everyone but herself.

The dual narration for this was spot on and kept me wanting to know more. This was my first book by this author and I can't wait to read more!
