Really good part one of a two part set.
On paper, Walter Nash has the perfect life: beautiful and brilliant wife, smart, gorgeous daughter, a
job that affords him a billionaire like existence and no worries to speak of.
Just a perfect life.
Until it isn't.
The FBI recruit him to help them bring down his boss , which means the end of the perfect life as
he now knows it.
And nothing is the same again.
Great suspense and filled with much more than 1 "I didn't see that coming".
Grisham strikes gold once again.
Purely as an aside, I wish the devastation was a little less intense.
Waiting for the book end.

5⭐️ – Baldacci delivers another knockout thriller!

I loved this one. David Baldacci is one of my go-to authors for a reason—he knows exactly how to balance intelligent plotting with heart-pounding suspense, and Nash Falls might be one of his best yet.

Walter Nash is the kind of character you root for immediately: thoughtful, loyal, and completely unprepared for the storm he’s about to walk into. When the FBI recruits him to expose a powerful money-laundering operation at his firm, he’s thrust into a high-stakes game of deception that threatens everything he’s built—including his family.

What follows is a masterclass in tension. The villain, Victoria Steers, is chillingly smart, and the way the story twists kept me flipping pages late into the night. But it’s Nash’s transformation—from a quiet businessman to a man who’ll do whatever it takes—that really hit me. This isn’t just a thriller; it’s a story about survival, legacy, and the price of doing what’s right.

Baldacci’s writing is razor-sharp, the pacing never lets up, and the emotional stakes feel real. I couldn’t put this down.

Highly recommend for: fans of morally complex thrillers, high-stakes FBI drama, and anyone who loves a good character arc with serious bite.

Walter Nash is a successful businessman, a devoted husband and father, and an all-around good guy. And then the FBI comes knocking. The FBI recruits Nash to gather evidence and information on his employer, Sybaritic Investments - a company that has been laundering large amounts of money for some very bad (and very dangerous) people. Nash's personal and professional lives are soon ripped apart, with devastating consequences. He must turn to his recently-deceased father's old Army buddy for help - both in surviving and in seeking revenge.

I admittedly did not realize Nash Falls is the first novel in a new series - I thought it was a standalone novel. Given that the ending is a cliffhanger and leaves the reader with many unanswered questions, I was very glad to learn that this will be a series and am looking forward to the next novel.

Nash Falls is an intriguing suspenseful thriller with compelling twists and turns throughout the story. Walter Nash’s personality is revealed to be a caring and loving father. I enjoyed watching his character morph into a desperate enraged father seeking revenge and facing multiple obstacles. I found his wife to be shallow and disappointing on believing the lies about Nash’s involvement with their daughter.

I really enjoyed how the tension accelerated as the story progressed. Nash remained kindhearted and respectable while seeking vengeance on the people trying to destroy his life.
My favorite character was Shock. His faithfulness and love for Nash’s father was endearing. He was bold in his beliefs and proved to be an excellent support for Nash. It was redeeming for Nash to witness Shock’s love for his dad.
The only drawback I felt was with the ending of the story. The ending felt rushed, and I hoped for more. After reflecting on the story, the ending was satisfying, and I am hopeful there will be a sequel to wrap things up. Overall, the book was exciting, electrifying, and kept me on the edge of my se

A gripping, emotionally charged mystery that digs deep into the shadows of legacy and power.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC

David Baldacci delivers yet again but this time with a twist. While his name is synonymous with fast paced thrillers and government intrigue, Nash Falls brings a refreshing shift: a suspenseful, character driven tale grounded in family, secrets, and the quiet menace of wealth and influence.

Set in a town that practically breathes secrets, the story revolves around a man whose peaceful life begins to unravel following a sudden death. What follows is a layered mystery where past choices collide with present consequences and nothing is quite what it seems.

Baldacci excels in building tension without losing sight of emotional depth. The setting is vividly drawn, and the pacing allows you to get lost in the narrative without feeling overwhelmed. Characters are complex, flawed, and fully realized particularly our protagonist, who is forced to confront uncomfortable truths about the world he thought he knew.

What truly makes this novel stand out is how personal it feels. It’s less about political intrigue and more about legacy the kind that shapes lives quietly until it erupts. There’s a tenderness beneath the suspense, a reminder that the deepest betrayals often come from the people closest to us.

Nash Falls is smart, suspenseful, and emotionally resonant. Baldacci proves that even after dozens of novels, he still has new stories to tell and new ways to surprise us.

A new novel by David Baldacci is always exciting news and Nash Falls certainly is exciting. When Walter Nash is introduced, we see him as a complex, interesting and intelligent character and are looking forward to a new series to come. However, this novel which deals with two different father/son issues quickly becomes tedious and not wholly believable. Of course, that doesn’t hinder the fact that the reader is compelled to continue reading to find out how all is resolved. I cannot help but wonder why the novel is called Nash Falls — I envisioned a waterfall. I can still recommend this book and thank NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book prior to publication.

Thanks to the Grand Central Publishing and Netgalley for this captivating 5 star eARC, I enjoyed every word of this riveting story of betrayal and transformation.

David Baldacci is a prolific author known for his high-octane thrillers, often featuring government conspiracies, master assassins, and heroic protagonists saving the day against impossible odds. His latest offering, Nash Falls, promises to deliver more of what fans have come to expect, yet it also ventures into a slightly different territory, exploring themes of familial loyalty, the weight of the past, and the insidious nature of small-town company secrets and the destructive power of unimaginable (excessive) personal wealth and control.

Nash Falls is a story about how quickly one's life can change - and the personal transformative power of those changes, as Walter Nash, a mild mannered man living an idyllic life sees that existence rapidly crumble when his larger than life father (and boss) dies.

Baldacci masterfully paints a picture of a seemingly idyllic community where everyone knows everyone, and secrets are buried deeper than the local aquifer. However, beneath this tranquil facade lies a simmering tension, a legacy of events that refuse to stay buried.

Baldacci's strength lies in his character development, and Walter Nash is no exception as the events in this novel ((and Walter's existence) rapidly go into a tailspin.

The plot, as expected from Baldacci, is a tightly woven tapestry of suspense and intrigue. The initial mystery quickly unravels into a complex web of betrayals, long-held grudges, and a conspiracy that reaches the highest echelons of power. Baldacci expertly paces the reveals, doling out clues and red herrings with precision, keeping the reader constantly guessing. Just when you think you have it all figured out, a new twist emerges, sending the narrative spiraling in an unexpected direction.

What sets Nash Falls apart from some of Baldacci's previous works is its more intimate scale. While there are certainly elements of larger machinations at play, the heart of the story remains rooted in the personal. The stakes, while significant, feel more immediate because they directly impact Walter and the people he cares about. This personal connection amplifies the tension and makes the various betrayals and revelations all the more impactful.

Nash Falls is a potent blend of Baldacci's signature suspense and a more introspective exploration of home and legacy. It's a gripping read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning pages long into the night. Fans of Baldacci will find all the elements they love – the intricate plotting, the relentless pacing, and the morally complex characters – but they will also discover a story with a richer emotional core. This is not just a thriller; it's a testament to the enduring power of roots, even when those roots are tangled in darkness.

Nash Falls is a 5 star novel which solidifies Baldacci's position as a master of the genre, proving that even a seasoned author can still surprise and captivate his audience with fresh perspectives. I can't wait to read the next entry in this exciting series to see what future challenges Baldacci has in store for Walter!

Walter Nash, a nice guy who just turned forty. Hardworking, high-end wage earner and corporate money manager with a seven figure salary plus bonuses that were earned via long hours, many international flights, and very few vacations. Dad to nineteen year old Maggie, a wannabe influencer looking for dad’s financing, and married for twenty years to college sweetheart Judith, who is now looking for something else as empty-nesting is on the horizon. Still, Nash is mostly aloof, an introvert, and happily living a predictable life. That is until, immediately after his estranged Vietnam vet father’s funeral, the FBI comes into Walter’s life to turn it upside down.

Their proposal: become the reluctant whistleblower/insider at his seemingly successful corporate conglomerate company where Nash is head of acquisitions, one step below the idiotic nepo-baby currently in charge (who has a loss outflow that’s becoming an embarrassing flood). Normally disinterested in the satellite parts of the company, Nash is enticed to dig further and undercovers exactly what the FBI is looking for: a vast money laundering operation with the full buy-in of CEO Rhett and his still actively involved elderly father, but a non-independent operation with gooey strings attached to a cruel international villainess. Nash is very reluctant once he learns that three lower level employees approached by the FBI have all been presumably murdered, but he realizes his life, whether he agrees to cooperate or not, has already been inalterably changed, as will Maggie’s and Judith’s lives. Welcome to a future of stocking shelves in a Dollar General in rural Idaho.

The action continues as Nash makes a slight mistake that brings attention to him. The old evil company overlord and villainess become suspicious. The head spinning explanations of financial transactions and multiple layers of money laundering procedures can be perplexing, but it adds to your overall understanding of just how corrupt and dishonorable the people Nash is trying to undermine are. The FBI guys seem sincere, but out of their league when Nash finds out he’s on his own when the bad guys try to do their revengeful worst. Things get as awful and hopeless as possible and the mystery is how will Nash get back even the small semblance of a normal life if he doesn’t end up dead. This is a pulse-pounding thriller with a definite good guy to root for. Baldacci is the master of these suspense stories and he’s delivered another 5 star tale, this one definitely worth a sequel.

Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:
Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): NO No eye colors beyond the mesmerizing brown eyes of the teenage girl that fourteen year old Nash decided was more important than acknowledging his mother.
Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska): NO Only the flowers that Rhett sent to cover up his absence at the funeral.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy!

I’ve read every one of Baldacci’s books, and Nash Falls reminded me exactly why he’s one of my all-time favorite authors. The pacing is fast and sharp like always, and I was hooked almost immediately. Walter was easy to root for—flawed but grounded—and I found myself genuinely invested in what happened to him. I also really liked how Judith’s arc unfolded. I didn’t expect to come around on her, but by the end, I was surprisingly on board.

The cliffhanger totally caught me off guard, in the best way. I wasn’t ready for it to end and now I’m counting the days until the next one. Nash Falls delivers exactly what I’ve come to love from Baldacci: smart twists, strong characters, and that signature momentum that keeps you turning pages late into the night. Another fantastic read.

Baldacci is a top author for me and I read everything that he writes - love his series! In his latest book we are introduced to the humble, stable, perhaps a bit boring character of Walter Nash. What follows next is an adventure that sometimes seems so unlikely but then is brought back to reality with a bang - Nash is no longer a bit boring. The plot keeps you engaged and wondering what shoe will fall next. The realism takes a hit towards the middle of the book - beliefs suspended - but it really doesn't work against the storyline too much. I very much enjoyed the characters, well most of them, and how they interacted which created a suspenseful read. I'll admit I didn't really like how this book ended (I like resolution!) but imagine it's setting us up for the next book which I am very much looking forward to! Many thanks to the Author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Walter Nash leads a comfortable, predictable life as a high‐level executive and family man who is unaccustomed to violence or intrigue in Nash Falls by David Baldacci. In this high tension thriller, his life will be turned completely upside down after a visit in the dead of night when the FBI makes contact with a damning revelation: Nash’s firm, Sybaritic Investments, is a money laundering scheme for a global criminal mastermind.
With little choice, Nash gives in to the FBI’s plan for him to go undercover. Once Nash begins a covert investigation into the vast workings of his company and all its divisions, everything in his reality starts to spin out of control once the evil schemer is somehow informed—a leak!-- of his pledge to the FBI. What begins as surveillance becomes survival. As Nash loses everything, he must reinvent himself from a mild mannered businessman into a vengeance seeker.
The cost to his personal life is devastating as a family member is kidnapped. When the captive goes online with an incriminating reveal about Nash—albeit the disclosure is one lie after another—he is forced to turn fugitive. With the help of his late father’s war buddy, Nash is able to make a daring escape to a safe retreat as he regroups in plotting how to fight back.
In this character-driven novel, Nash struggles with his conscience regarding revenge and violence and what these will cost to his personal identity and value system. His dilemma is reminiscent of Baldacci’s character Amos Decker first mentioned in Memory Man. Nash, an ordinary man being corrupted into becoming something he is not, is a frequent trope in thriller fiction.
David Baldacci, a New York Times bestselling author, has captivated readers worldwide with his gripping suspense and legal novels, many drawn from his background as an attorney. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Baldacci has created numerous acclaimed series including the aforementioned Amos Decker series, as well as the Camel Club series, the Atlee Pine series, and the Aloysius Archer series. His debut novel Absolute Power launched his career in 1996, and he has continued to produce bestsellers that blend legal expertise with compelling storytelling.
My review will be posted on Goodreads starting July 27, 2025.
I would like to thank Grand Central Publishing, Hachette Book Group, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in return for an objective review.

Once again Baldacci has thrown us an action-packed adventure with plenty of thrills and suspense. This story is well-written, with great character development, plenty of twists to keep you reading, and so much more. Image how your life would be if the FBI recruited you to spy on the company you work for. This is what happens to Walter Nash when he isn’t given a choice by the FBI but to become the inside man for them. But when your boss finds out that you are spying for the FBI that's when things turn deadly. I highly recommend any Baldacci book but really enjoyed this one. Thank you Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC in Exchange for an honest review.
