Heartwarming and festive with real emotional weight. Stone blends holiday charm with themes of grief, healing, and hope. While predictable at times, the story was deeply comforting. A perfect holiday hug in book form.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This book was a cozy, Christmas trope. It has the same old song and dance as most holiday themed novels. A fake romance turns real all at Christmas time.

Finn and Mel split up six months before Christmas. In true cheesy novel fashion, he convinces her to go on Holiday with him and his family, as the family thinks they are back together. Finn's mom has a whole agenda planned for the family to take part in.

Honestly, if Finn and Mel would have communicated better throughout the book, I would have given another star. The lack of communication between the main characters until the very end was frustrating, and made me not really like anyone in the book.

Yours for the Season offers a cozy, festive escape with a second chance romance set in the snowy Scottish Highlands complete with twinkling lights, family drama, and fake dating hijinks. It has all the ingredients of a charming holiday read.

After an embarrassing public break up six months ago, Melanie is hurt, skeptical, and still a little in love with the man who broke her heart. Her dynamic with Finn is filled with tension and snarky banter as they try to pull off fake dating for the holidays after he tells his mother they’ve gotten back together. The story goes back and forth between present day and flashbacks and the premise itself is fun, a fake relationship that doubles as an opportunity for revenge.

The story leans heavily on miscommunication, which I usually enjoy but found frustrating in this book. I couldn’t get past how their relationship ended and how easily it could have been avoided, even though the second chance trope is one of my favorites.

I really struggled with the writing itself. I found the sentences to be incredibly choppy. Nearly every sentence had an em dash or a series of commas. Some sentences weren’t complete and there were times pronouns were swapped in the middle of sentences. I just couldn’t get into the story with the flow (or lack thereof) of the writing.

That being said, Finn’s family brings much needed heart to the story and the secondary characters kept me in it enough to finish it.

I don't think I have ever read an Emily Stone book I didn't like. It was the typical formed proximity fake dating troupe. But it was delightful. Her books are just bright and fun to read. Check this out this upcoming holiday season.

I am such a sucker for second chance romances, and this one did not disappoint! Holiday romance books and movies are my jam, and I will happily read this anytime of year. Christmas romance set in Scotland? YES PLEASE.
Melanie is left confused and reeling after Finn dumps her very publicly out of the blue at his sister's engagement story, and doesn't hear from him again until he randomly calls her one day with a proposition- pretend they are dating again for 1 week while visiting his parents to make his mom's Christmas magical, and then she can publicly dump him like he did her. Sounds super simple and reasonable, right? Wrong. What ensues are a bunch of tension-filled moments, emotional talks, and plenty of snark from Mel directed at Finn (rightfully so). We get to learn more about what their relationship was like before everything went to hell, and it leads to a revelation about why Finn did the seemingly unimaginable. I really found myself rooting for them throughout and was invested in their hopeful HEA. Do they get it? Read this fun and heartfelt romance to find out!

Holiday reads are my favorite types of books!!
I loved the flashbacks from past to present to learn about Mel and Finn’s relationship from the first day they met until their current situation they were in — it helped build depth in their relationship as the story unfolded. The ending wrapped up very nicely - will definitely recommend!

This book was SO good! I am not usually a fan of second chance romances but this one got me.

Mel and Finn are ex's with zero communication after a shocking breakup that happened during Finn's sister engagement. After a random phone call from Finn, Mel finds herself spending the holidays with Finn and his family in Scotland. They do all the family things with Finn's mother and siblings all while they are living a lie as a couple who has gotten back together. Finn asked Mel to pretend for the sake of his mother because she loved Mel so much. The plan is to fake it until after Christmas then Mel could break it off in front of his family, the way he had done 6 months earlier to end their relationship. She was using this time to say proper goodbyes to his family and have closure but it fails miserably when they realize that they still love each other and let lack of communication be the reason it all ended originally.

I loved this book so much because the whole time you were just rooting for them. You just WANTED the problem to be fixable. You wanted him to be able to rescue her and for her to rescue him right back. The banter and tenderness was top tear and the tension was beautifully felt as a reader the whole time. I want a hard copy of this book so I can pick it up and reread my favorite parts again and again!

I love Emily Stone books! While this wasn't my favorite of hers, I did still really enjoy this story. I loved the fake dating and second chance. I loved the character growth. This was a fun read. And great for the Christmas season!

I can never say no to a holiday romance! Emily Stone books are always good! The beginning moved a bit slowly for me, so it took some time to really get into the story, but the payoff was absolutely worth it. I especially enjoyed the setting and the touches of Christmas woven throughout. It’s a meaningful holiday, though not exactly light or fluffy.

A 3.5 for me. The pacing was a little slow at the beginning which made me work through it slowly. Overall a fun holiday rom com, very festive and funny.

I enjoyed the fake dating, second chance, and slow burn tropes in the book and the flashbacks of their early relationship. I didn't love the miscommunication, however it was written well and didn't make me want to put the book down.

Thank you to Netgalley, Random House Publishing Group, and Emily Stone for the ARC of this book! I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the other books by this author!

Emily Stone is one of my go to holiday romance authors and I was delighted to receive an advance copy of Yours for the Season. At first glance this was a no brainer for me because I typically love the second chance and fake dating tropes. Finn rehabs homes, Mel is an up and coming jewelry designer and 6 months ago they broke up, in front of his family, with seemingly no warning. Fast forward to right before Christmas and Finn shows up to convince Mel to join his family for their holiday because they think the two kissed and made up. Eventually Mel agrees because she adores his mother and it's only one week after all.

I wanted to love this book as much as I've loved the others but, sadly, it fell a bit flat for me. The level of emotional depth and tugging of heartstrings I've come to expect just wasn't there and I found it hard to connect with the characters. That said, I definitely did not hate this book. It's a sweet holiday read that I'm sure others will really enjoy.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy.

Every Christmas my bookclub does Emily Stone for their December book: and this book was SO swoon worthy! Just could not put it down and have thought about it for days.

I received a free copy of, Your For the Season, by Emily Stone, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Even though Melanie was dumped by Finn, she still wants to help him. Spending Christmas with Finn and his family in Scotland does not sound so horrible o Melanie. This was a good read, In not a fan of books that have chapters that go back and forth through time though.

I'm always up for a good holiday romance, but I'll be honest in that I ended up skimming part of the book. The shocking discovery was obvious in the beginning of the book and there were moments of desperation that were off putting. I realize it's fiction, but there was a level of unreality in the basic premise that I was having a hard time getting past. I give it a Meh.

I received a complimentary copy of this book "Yours For The Season" and all opinions expressed are my own. Always in December and Love Holly were amazing. I also enjoyed reading this one. A holiday romance in Scotland.

I really enjoyed this Christmas romance! Do you think you would get back together with your ex if you were going to be home alone over the holidays just to spend more time with his family again? I think Finn caught Mel when she was really feeling vulnerable and needed to be around people. Sometimes you need to be alone and sometimes you need to be around people. She was really in that place. Through it all, they find out more about themselves, their relationship and where it all went wrong. Great read!

I was expecting more of a light-hearted Christmas story in "Yours For The Season' by Emily Stone. Instead I got a deeply layered, tender story of the impact of family in our lives and how to navigate and learn from the joys and difficulties that ensue from relationships. The pace was a little slow starting so it took a while for me to engage. The outcome was satisfying and worthwhile. I loved the locale and Christmas aspects, and would recommend this as a lovely, though not light, Christmas read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I fell in love with Mel and Finn, and Finn's family. This was such a heart soothing romance. It had enemies to lover vibes, but a beautiful second chance atmosphere as well. There are all the family dynamics and holiday highjinx. I loved the heart in this novel and I liked a wonderful HEA.

A second chance/fake dating/forced proximity Christmas novel? Say less...

Mel is asked by her ex Finn to pretend to get back together for his families' Christmas holiday. Finn is the one who broke up with her so why would she say yes, unless she can get back at him for breaking up with her. Told through mostly present chapters with a few flashback chapters spanning their first meeting up until the breakup, Mel and Finn spend the week together with his family. What could possibly go wrong?

I really enjoyed the cozy, wintry atmosphere. Perfect to read while cuddled up in the winter. I loved the family-filled activities and Christmas setting. Even reading this during the summer, I was able to get into the cozy Christmas feels. The actual story was kind of slow for me at first but about half way I got really invested in the story. I think this gave us time to get to know Finn and Mel and their relationship and I really enjoyed that. When we got to the reason for why Finn broke up with Mel, I was kind of annoyed but as I kept reading I was able to understand where he was coming from.

Don't let the cute Christmassy cover fool you, Emily Stone always goes deeper than the cheesy rom-com. In this, she explores relationships with parents and how it can affect their kids relationships and behaviors.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine (Dell) for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
