Every Christmas my bookclub does Emily Stone for their December book: and this book was SO swoon worthy! Just could not put it down and have thought about it for days.

I received a free copy of, Your For the Season, by Emily Stone, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Even though Melanie was dumped by Finn, she still wants to help him. Spending Christmas with Finn and his family in Scotland does not sound so horrible o Melanie. This was a good read, In not a fan of books that have chapters that go back and forth through time though.

I'm always up for a good holiday romance, but I'll be honest in that I ended up skimming part of the book. The shocking discovery was obvious in the beginning of the book and there were moments of desperation that were off putting. I realize it's fiction, but there was a level of unreality in the basic premise that I was having a hard time getting past. I give it a Meh.

I received a complimentary copy of this book "Yours For The Season" and all opinions expressed are my own. Always in December and Love Holly were amazing. I also enjoyed reading this one. A holiday romance in Scotland.

I really enjoyed this Christmas romance! Do you think you would get back together with your ex if you were going to be home alone over the holidays just to spend more time with his family again? I think Finn caught Mel when she was really feeling vulnerable and needed to be around people. Sometimes you need to be alone and sometimes you need to be around people. She was really in that place. Through it all, they find out more about themselves, their relationship and where it all went wrong. Great read!

I was expecting more of a light-hearted Christmas story in "Yours For The Season' by Emily Stone. Instead I got a deeply layered, tender story of the impact of family in our lives and how to navigate and learn from the joys and difficulties that ensue from relationships. The pace was a little slow starting so it took a while for me to engage. The outcome was satisfying and worthwhile. I loved the locale and Christmas aspects, and would recommend this as a lovely, though not light, Christmas read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I fell in love with Mel and Finn, and Finn's family. This was such a heart soothing romance. It had enemies to lover vibes, but a beautiful second chance atmosphere as well. There are all the family dynamics and holiday highjinx. I loved the heart in this novel and I liked a wonderful HEA.

A second chance/fake dating/forced proximity Christmas novel? Say less...

Mel is asked by her ex Finn to pretend to get back together for his families' Christmas holiday. Finn is the one who broke up with her so why would she say yes, unless she can get back at him for breaking up with her. Told through mostly present chapters with a few flashback chapters spanning their first meeting up until the breakup, Mel and Finn spend the week together with his family. What could possibly go wrong?

I really enjoyed the cozy, wintry atmosphere. Perfect to read while cuddled up in the winter. I loved the family-filled activities and Christmas setting. Even reading this during the summer, I was able to get into the cozy Christmas feels. The actual story was kind of slow for me at first but about half way I got really invested in the story. I think this gave us time to get to know Finn and Mel and their relationship and I really enjoyed that. When we got to the reason for why Finn broke up with Mel, I was kind of annoyed but as I kept reading I was able to understand where he was coming from.

Don't let the cute Christmassy cover fool you, Emily Stone always goes deeper than the cheesy rom-com. In this, she explores relationships with parents and how it can affect their kids relationships and behaviors.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine (Dell) for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

The most implausiable of rom-coms: Finn dumps Mel six months earlier the most embarrassing fashion - in front of his whole family with no prior warning. Still incredibly heartbroken, she ends up saying yes to spending the Christmas holidays with his family in Scotland, only if she can dump him at the end. if any man did this to me, I would slap him with a hard NO and this conversation would be over. I would call his family that she loves and let them know what a fool he is.

Alas, we need the inevitable book to happen. I would have liked this book so much more if this wasn't the premise. Emily Stone writes with heart and compassion, with memorable characters, but I just couldn't get past the premise. And i abhor the cover. Looks like every other mediocre rom-com out there.

I ended up skimming through to the end, as I didn't see how sparks actually flew, and the family wasn't quirky enough for me. While I loved Stone's first two books, the last two I've read have been clunkers.

Yours for the Season by Emily Stone is a heartfelt, bittersweet holiday romance that delivers more than just festive cheer. It’s emotional in that signature Emily Stone way—quietly devastating at times, but full of hope and warmth by the end. The characters are so well-drawn, with real baggage and real hearts, and the slow-burn romance had me fully invested. This isn’t your standard light holiday rom-com—it’s deeper, more reflective, and honestly kind of healing.

If you love your holiday reads with a mix of romance, grief, second chances, and that achey kind of joy that sneaks up on you, this one’s a must-read. It broke me a little, but in the best waY

It’s difficult to think about the holidays when we have not yet had the first day of summer, but when I got a chance to read Emily Stone’s “Yours for the Season,” I could not say no.

Melanie (Mel) has been burned by her ex, Finn, but when he proposes that he and Mel play happy boyfriend/girlfriend for a week (albeit in the family home in Scotland), Mel is tempted to say no. However, the two reach an agreement, and I do not need to say much more for you to figure out where this novel is headed.

While this story does have its predictable moments, I appreciate how Stone dives deeper into choices you make because of family expectations. I also appreciated the clear chemistry between Finn and Mel. The setting is picturesque and I could easily see this as a Hallmark movie.

Four out of five stars.

Thanks to Emily Stone, the publisher and Net Galley for a chance to read and review this delightful novel.

I can never resist a holiday romance book and this one doesn’t disappoint! This is a fake-dating story that is festive and full of love and heart! Will definitely reread it closer to the holiday season and would make a great gift for friends that love romance books!

A quick and cute read. Not fantastic but good enough to finish. Enjoyable enough to share with friends and fellow book loves but not something I would typically pic up or shout out..

Oh Emily Stone. She never disappoints and "yours for the season" is no different. I devoured it in less than a day and just absolutely loved it. Mel and Finn are exes who come back together for the holidays for his family, with chapters interspersed telling of their relationship as it developed (and ended). It helps you really see the motivations behind each character, and get invested in their stories. I just really loved this one, and loved how it turned out - highly recommend.

I really struggled to get through this book. I don't think it was a bad storyline or plot...and I don't necessarily think it was a terrible book. I found myself having trouble with the writing style. I am not a huge fan of third person narrative but this particular writing just had me confused.

A fake dating holiday romance? Yes please! 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 is a delightfully warm and emotional story that is made even better by beautiful Scottish countryside setting. Honestly, this was everything that I want in a holiday romance.

The story follows two exes, Mel and Finn, that have a complicated past. This was not your typical fake dating trope, since they were recent exes, still dealing with the complicated emotions of a breakup. These characters felt very vulnerable and relatable. Emily Stone did an incredible job representing heartbreak and confusion after a breakup, and the warmth and growth of the healing journey.

This should be added to your TBR this holiday season! The expected publication date of 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 is October 7, 2025. Thank you NetGalley and Dell Romance for the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

My goodness this book. Yours for the Season follows Finn and Mel as they take part in a fake dating scenario after breaking up 6 months prior. This book is full of emotion and made me tear up in several spots. You can feel how much the characters still love each other while trying to hide it. The only part I didn’t love was there is some miscommunication, which is not something I personally love.
This was another great story by Emily Stone. 4⭐️ definitely recommend!

I enjoy this author’s work and will continue to read it. That being said, this one didn’t completely work for me.

Yours For the Season felt a little different than others of Emily Stone’s that I have previously read, where the tone is sweet but heavily dosed with grief. This one is a bit spicier, but I felt it lacked a bit in its plot and so felt a bit repetitive. And rather than “miscommunication” being the trope, it seemed to veer heavily in a “we don’t communicate at all except with our inner monologues and thus we destroyed our relationship” direction and made it difficult to really feel much sympathy for either Mel or Finn. And though grief does play a role, it’s a bit predictable (though I teared up nonetheless).

All in all, I read this quickly and it was an easy read, especially if you like a good helping of cheery Christmas activities.

Thanks so much to the publisher to read an early copy for the purposes of a review through NetGalley.
