Once upon a time, in another world, there was a knight who was also a wizard, and the General of the Royal Rebel Army. In this medieval-like world, technology is considered magic. The knight/wizard/General was one of the only ones that could wield this power, and then he fell asleep for thirty years. When he wakes up, it is a very different world.

The best line was: “Holy Blueberries! That sounds mighty evil!”

a satisfying, layered story with simple yet highly evocative artwork; not afraid to venture into fraught emotional and moral territory either. I liked how the different color stories made it easy to keep track of which story/timeline was the focus at any given moment.

I think this was a really great story for a graphic novel. Cool blend of sci fi and fantasy and I think the art style matched the tone really well. The art reminds me a little of ND Stevenson’s Nimona but with a gritty sci fi noir feel. Recommend checking this out and look forward to more titles from this author.

This read fast but still pretty packed for a graphic novel.

Thanks to NetGally and the author/publisher for an eArc of this title in exchange for an honest review.

Ionheart was me stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new. I loved the imagery, the colors, and the art style. However, much of the plot seemed to go over my head, which was likely just me as a reader not understanding.

However, I really did enjoy getting to see the characters interact with one another, and the story was incredibly visually appealing.

Thanks Netgalley and IDW for allowing me to read this story.

At first I thought it looked interesting because we get to see this knight who apparently slept for 30 years and goes on random quests. I even liked the robot villain who honestly didn’t have a time to shine, it’s as if he gone from the picture completely! But then it was honestly getting super confusing because it seemed to me that the “knight” had more than just one identity in different situations within different time eras. It’s like one minute he’s a human trying to save the world and then he’s suddenly a robot trying to take over the world. I literally do not know who’s the main character anymore in this seriously lol 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s a ok read to waste time on but it was just all over the place….

While a quick read, I enjoyed the characters the author created and the concept/lore .
The prologue after the main story was confusing at times since it jumped around in spots.
But overall the art, concept was a unique and enjoyable read.

I was excited to be approved for this e-arc and while I am very appreciative, I found myself so lost in what was going on. It almost felt like a sequel since I found myself being thrown right in without an explanation. Throughout the novel we’re thrown back and forth in time and to different places and with no explanation. The art itself was fine, but it combined with the text had no help on when or where we were. The scenes felt shoved together and I found myself losing interest fast since I was so lost as to what was happening and what I was supposed to perceive in each part of the story.

Ionheart was a super quick read and I really loved the concept behind it. However, the art style just wasn't for me. The color scheme was gorgeous though.

3/5 Stars
Graphic novels are always quick reads for me that I love as little pallet cleansers during books. That being said I was excited to see I was approved for this one. Ironheart has an intriguing premise with its eerie blend of fantasy, science fiction, and time-bending twists. The concept of a knight fleeing through radioactive fairy-tale ruins while facing off against a demon was unique and held my attention. However, the art style just didn’t work for me. It felt more distracting than immersive, which made it harder to connect with the story. That said, the storytelling had potential, and was still enjoyable but it overall could have been better.
