I had originally read a fan translation of this a while back and it was a little rough so I was excited to see an official English translation. This is much better done than the one I read previously. I enjoyed the story and I think the relationship between Gen and Mika made a lot of sense, it didn't feel forced like a lot of BL storylines. My main complaint is that it felt like something got cut in places where more dialogue was needed, like, why exactly did Gen feel like Mika rejected him? Some internal dialogue would have been nice there. Also, some of the scene breaks were jarring. There was no indication that a new chapter was starting, just weird breaks in the story. That being said, it was enjoyable to read. The art is decent but not perfect.

It's a cute and simple short story of a crumpy head and sunshine couple. It's nice how they so naturally come together.

Shout Loud, My Heart is a charming, sweet one-volume manga about the romance between bassist Gen and vocalist Mika, who are are in two different, occasionally rival, bands. It’s a quick read as we follow the gentle blossoming of their relationship through four chapters and two povs. However, though their relationship is cute, it was also fairly straightforward. There weren’t many moments of tension, and the small amount of misunderstanding we see is quickly cleared up. I would have loved for this to have been a bit longer in order to more thoroughly develop their relationship as well as explore the intricacies and dynamics of them being in two different bands.
However, it was still a great palette cleanser in between some of my longer reads. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a cozy slice of life bl between a moody musician and a golden-retriever singer.

4.5 stars!
The art style was really unique, it reminded me of 90s manga and I loved it. The story was so cute, although there were some points I had trouble understanding who was speaking; the flow between some scenes could be adjusted.
Overall it was a great story, the characters were very individualized, and I can’t wait to purchase a copy for myself!

THE CHEMISTRY? THE LONGING?
I liked this one a lot!! The grumpy x sunshine trope was perfect. They were literally made for each other, Gen's quiet love was so cute to see.
He is such a black grumpy cat whose curiosity is only piqued by Mike's beautiful voice.
Also everyone immediately shipping and supporting them was so cute, they were already pestering about it at the beginning!
They're both super talented and a match made in heaven (Adam and Eve, iykyk).
Mika also literally tied them down form the beginning, they were so cute and wholesome.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher, for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC for this!
This was so good. If there's one thing about me, it’s that I love stories that have anything to do with bands/music. The story was well done too—the pacing was great and the romance didn’t move too quickly, even with Mika & Gen’s story being told within one volume. There were a lot of fun moments where the banter between the characters was great, and of course, the romance was amazing, as I mentioned before. I also loved the characters and how we got to see everyone’s friendships instead of only focusing on the romance. The art was beautiful too! Their height difference was absolutely adorable. And there were so many sweet scenes between them! I enjoyed the extra chapters at the end a lot, seeing the domestic moments between the two really tied everything together. I had so much fun with this.

i love love love this manga. im so glad it got translated into english officially. the art style bangs and the story between the two is sweet. it's one i'd def read again and again.
thank you to netgalley and kodansha for the eARC!

This is one of my favorite manga! I have so much to love about this volume and every time I read it, I find something new. It’s like music; each time, learning something new, feeling something new and finding new meanings and interpretations.
I strongly feel manga based on the arts should be adapted to anime more. I feel like this manga in particular would make a great story as an anime because it progresses using music as its medium. Similar to a piece of music, this manga tells a story in fragments leaving the reader to fill in some of the gaps and yet, yearning for more. Personally I loved this approach because I felt like it captures the essence of music in its execution.
The story is focused on the growing feelings between Gen and Eve. I liked how they were both attracted to each other and didn’t hold each other back. They enjoyed seeing the other perform and weren’t possessive or insecure. It felt like they fed off each other’s performance and coupled with their confidence, they performed even better. The small misunderstanding introduced was quickly resolved and I enjoyed their honesty. There wasn’t room for a third party to intervene and I liked this simplistic plot. It was all positive with a dash of drama to help move things forward.
Gen and Eve are two beautifully designed characters. I love the personalities with Gen’s being almost cat-like and their height difference is perfect! The interactions between the two are my favorite because it feels genuinely innocent. I only wish this was a series so we could witness more of their cute interactions and romance. There is a small cast of side characters and they also have unique and interesting designs. I liked how they are all nice and supportive of each other. We unfortunately don’t delve into any details but it’s evident that they are good friends and kind people.
Overall this was an enjoyable read and I read it twice! That said, this story isn’t for everyone because the development can be seen as quick and disconnected due to its fragmented execution. I personally enjoyed the story and especially love the last chapter and the bonus chapter! Seeing them live as an adorable and confident couple not scared about coming out to their friend was heartwarming. I would definitely recommend giving this volume a chance!

As someone who loves music, I found the premise to this manga so cool. Somehow, it really manages to capture the beauty of music as an art form and a way of communicating feelings.
There is also such nice chemistry between the two main characters but I got really uncomfortable about the setting of their first kiss. I really don't see a reason why there couldn't have been a consent check there, and the lack of it just left a sour feeling for all the rest of the book because this could've been amazing if not for that.
The character designs are great, I really liked that they all had distinct features and styles. The overall style of the manga also nails the edgy vibes of the story and the extra comics were cute.
This manga could've really ended up being a favorite for me but there is one thing I'm really starting to dislike a lot about the romance manga I pick up: the lack of clearly established consent. I might've churned it up to bad luck in my picks if it had happened once or twice but it's just happening way to often for me to not see a larger issue in it.
I wouldn't be able to say if I wholeheartedly recommend this due to what I've mentioned before.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for this e-ARC.

Thank you Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for giving me an advanced copy of this manga.
Shout Loud My Heart by Youga Rayri is an BL about two musicians from opposite bands who fall in love with each other.
I would give Shout Loud My heart a 3-star review because, honestly, I felt the relationship developed too fast, I felt there wasn't any chemistry between them, the art was okay, and I usually prefer manga's like ten count or crimson spell.

Firstly, I’d like to thank NetGalley and Kodansha for providing me an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I haven’t read manga in quite a while, but the art style on the cover got my interest peeked. Reading it brought me back to high school years when I was reading manga as my main source of fiction.
All that said, apart from the nostalgia, the story was alright. The two main characters Mika (Mike) and Gen’s interactions didn’t feel overall convincing as a relationship developing, or just too fast. But as I standalone I understand the pacing. The idea that Mika was interested in Gen before becoming an opposing band and then naming his band Adam to Gen’s Eve was a great touch. But I just felt like more about the characters could have been introduced.
My favorite part was definitely the short stories/extras at the end. Established, these two are adorable together. Such cuties that gave me warm and fuzzy.

4.5⭐
Such a cute one-shot BL manga. A cute and funny story between a band's guitarist and another band's vocalist. Mika and Gen made me instantly fall in love with them. The story didn't rushed directly to the love and spicy stuff, which made their love story more enjoyable and showed the passion both have for music, their bands and towards each other. And the bonus chapter and mini-comic made the best ending:
1. Each band's members supporting Mika and Gen's love for each other;
2. Gen making sure his lover was ok after Mika had a bad dream about how he get got the name "Mika";
3. The cute Mika plush;
4. Gen falling even more in love with Mika after seeing him in his work uniform;
Perfection~!
Also Youga Rayti's art style is gorgeous and I can't wait to read more from this author.
Lots of thanks from NetGalley, the publisher Kodansha Comics and the author this beautiful manga.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this story.
This was a light hearted story. I loved that they connected over music. I wish this was a little longer to be able to get more connected with the characters. I really loved Gens character and would love to read more with him in it.

Shout Loud, My Heart is a sweet bl manga pairing guitarist Gen and vocalist Mika, who are from rival bands. Gen comes off a tough and standoffish, while Mika is a bit of a flirt with a voice that makes everyone go crazy. These two click right away, though they take a minute to admit it to each other. And all their friends are super supportive when they figure it out (some quicker than others). Overall, this is a sweet story with some nice spice. A perfect music based bl that really hits you in the feels like the best fanfic!

shout loud, my heart is a really sweet, really quick read. it follows gen, the main guitarst of band Eve, and mika, lead singer of band Adam. they meet, become friends, and easily become entangled in each other.
i was surprised by how quick everything was advancing, but i realised that this is probably a single volume manga so the fast pace made sense. regardless, i had a lot of happy feelings reading this. i wish there was more just to experience the development of their relationship, but what we got was equally as enjoyable. also a really fun cast of side characters that feel distinctive despite their limited screen time.
gen equates meeting mika as something akin to fate. and mika literally says that if a god exists he thanks them for leading him to gen. i loved how from both of their perspectives, the other was someone whose music they were enchanted by.
this was really cute, really fluffy, and had beautiful art. i'm sure i'll read again, in future, when i need a pick me up.

Firstly, thank you to NetGalley & Kodansha Comics for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
🎧 This was a really cute, BL manga that centers around two high school students who play in rivaling bands. They have a deep respect for the others musical talent, and after spending time together, fall in love. Honestly, this was just a breath of fresh air. I adored the chemistry, the musical vibes and dynamic between both characters.
🎧 The art style was my favorite part, and it portrayed the emotion throughout the story perfectly. Overall, I thought this was just a really good, refreshing manga, and a good breather in between heavy reads.

Shout Loud, My Heart follows college students Gen and Mike who find out their chemistry is more than platonic. I found this to be an alright one shot. I didn't love it but also didn't hate it. I needed more convincing to believe that these two were meant to be. I would read more from this author in the future.

this was so cute!! i absolutely loved the art style in this, gen reminded me a bit of nana oosaki lol the admiration they have for each other and their passion/talent in music was really cute. they admired each other first as musicians and then as lovers!! grumpy x sunshine worked so well in this, i loved their dynamic sm!! the revelation of how mika came up w their band's name + him wanting gen to use his real name was everythingggg!!!!
thank you kodansha and netgalley for the arc! :)

I didn't expect to like this so much!
The drawing stile was so good and the storyline went really smooth and a breath of fresh air

Shout Loud, My Heart was a story that I enjoyed very much both for its story and its drawing. It's good to see more and more BL stories and even better with a musical theme.
Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for this advanced reader's copy.
