Howl is such a deep, emotional read. I cried for nearly every story in this book. It's empowering.

Each story carries the themes of werewolves, female rage, finding your inner strength, pulling the strongest part of you out to avenge yourself and the women who can't protect themselves, being free.


This was a hard read for me, but it was worth it. It was worth seeing that at the end of it all we yearn for the same things: Blood, revenge, justice, and freedom.

I loved the wide variety of different stories in this collection, and how similar the themes could be in such distinct stories. The subject matter lends itself to the darker side of being a woman,...assault, rape, domestic violence, abortion when it's illegal, etc. It's so important to consider these things and make space for them, especially in a genre that is often lacking female voices. The last story was downright creepy and delightful.
I found myself taking note of so many new-to-me authors and making sure I added more of their work to my TBR stack because of how much I loved their stories. Two of my overall favorites were Shannon Robinson's Origin Story and Zin E Rocklyn's Wolf Like Me. Unfortunately there were two I really didn't like, one because of personal preferences with horror and one because of how cliche/predictable the plot was. Overall it was a strong collection that I enjoyed.

This was a great collection of stories by a group of authors I really enjoy. Werewolves have become my favorite horror trope, especially in what they signify for women. I really enjoyed the variety of writing styles, tones and genres.
