Lady Caroline Kilbride is suffering from a scandal and a broken heart; she seeks refuge at her brother's house. a new person arrives and dare she risk her heart again?

ahhh im.so glad i decided to continue this series. while i wasnt a huge fan of the last one, this book gave me the emotional depth and layered characters that i needed. regency romances are everything to me and this one was so good!

I liked how Caro and Rob’s bond was built on trust and emotional support. Caro’s backstory was moving, and Rob’s kindness added softness to the romance. However, the plot started slowly, and Rob’s pride in avoiding family help became repetitive. Maybe because I did not read the other books in the series so I wasn’t as invested in the familiar bonds? Despite bumpy pacing, the book had warmth and a believable relatable arc for the MCs. Solid 3 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Jane Lark creates a refreshing twist for the Regency romance, and what a tangy twist!! A divorcee who fears ridicule abd broken by her past marriage, Caroline Kilbride, is hiding in her brother's estate when his wife's brother, Robert Marlow inspires her to break her shackles and realize life still has so many untainted moments to relish! The journey of Caro and Robbie is woven beatifically, the innocence abd single mindedness of Robert allows Caro to see his worst fears and provide counsel to quel his doubts. They build each other up and the finale nearly had my heart drop!
The growth in the character arcs and the strong family cast helps the storyline. This was a weekend read for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the arc!!

"An unputdownable Regency romance filled with passion, redemption and the healing power of love.
Can he convince her to risk her heart again?
A past scandal and a broken heart have left Lady Caroline Kilbride hiding away from the world, in the safety of her brother's home. But when a devilishly handsome newcomer arrives for the summer, she finds herself surprisingly drawn to him.
Rob Marlow, a man determined to carve his own path in life, never expected to be intrigued by his brother-in-law's dependent sister. Yet in Caro he sees courage, intelligence and a spark of the woman she once was.
Friendship blossoms into something more passionate, but when the truth of Caro's painful history resurfaces, will she retreat into the shadows or fight for her happy ever after? The third instalment in the addictively passionate Regency romance series The Marlow Family Secrets, for fans of Beverley Watts, Eloisa James and Bridgerton. Perfect for readers who love STEAMY, SPICY historical and regency romance."
Whomever hurt her Rob Marlow will destroy them!

I enjoyed this story- seeing lady Kilbride gradually come out of her shell, after such an awful marriage, was really lovely. I liked Rob, although it definitely got a bit annoying that he was so principled about accepting family help!! The wider characters were authentic and likeable (except for Kilbride himself of course!) and Rob’s whole family were lovely. I enjoyed the story overall

This was a fun read , I found it quirky and an easy romance which I finished quickly. Not my usual read but, it mad a change. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I don’t usually reach for Regency or historical romance, but I needed something to hold me over while I wait for the new Bridgerton season—and this did the trick! Caro and Rob’s story is emotional, layered, and surprisingly addicting. Caro’s trauma and healing journey felt authentic, and while I had some questions about the historical accuracy of her divorce, I was still swept up in the romance and emotional depth.
Rob is a kind, respectful love interest, and I loved how their relationship helped Caro slowly come back to life. It’s a bit dramatic at times, but if you enjoy a slow-burn with emotional payoff and good old-fashioned pining, this is definitely worth a read!
