I'll come right out and write it - I am a HUGE fan of D.K. Hood's writing - 26 books in and the Kane/Alton series has developed such fantastic characters and suspenseful story lines. The writing is always fresh - and readers have come to care about Alton and Kane, along with one of the best supporting casts in fiction. In Good Girls Don'tCry, a limousine full of high school couples goes missing. The boys are later found in the submerged vehicle, but not the girls... until Jenna (about to deliver her first baby any day) is called about a horrific crime scene. And it's one that parallels a previously solved serial killer case. And then, things start to escalate... I could not put this book down! And, I can't wait to see where the author takes the characters next! A big thank you to Bookouture for an advance dreader of this book - the opinions expressed are my own.

I have been reading this series since the very beginning, and 26 books later I am still loving it. There is always some much happening in Black Rock Falls, so many serial killers to be stopped. This one is a real piece of work. Again, a fantastic addition to the series and ending on a happy note. As always, already looking forward to the next one.
It all begins when a limousine full of high school students on their way to prom goes missing. It is pretty messed up and Jenna cannot help herself but get involved, even though she should be resting in preparation for her baby’s birth. We all know that women cannot be told. It is dark and suspenseful, a genuine page turner.
Thanks so much to Bookouture for my advanced copy to read. Publishes on June 24th.

Crack That is the sound of D.K. Hood hitting out of the ballpark yet again with [book:Good Girls Don't Cry: A completely gripping and totally addictive serial killer thriller|229049899]!!!! I could not put this book down! From the very first page I was fully invested and glued to my seat while completely gripped by this shocking page turner! This book packs a punch and takes readers on a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout the book and I loved every second of it!
It's prom night and the teens are dressed to impress and ready to party. It was supposed to be a night to remember but the night turns into a horrific nightmare. When their limousine fails to take the teen couples to prom, married couple, Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy, David Kane, are called to investigate. They come across a grim scene when the limousine and 5 bodies are found. The females are missing, and the killer left no clues behind.
Jenna is working against time in more ways than one in this book. She is pregnant and near her due date and the clock is ticking as every second counts in missing person cases. Could this be the work of a copycat killer? This case has strong similarities to another case she worked. Who is the sinister and evil person responsible for the deaths and missing girls? Will Jenna, Kane, and the other law professionals solve this case in time to save the missing girls???????
This book was dripping with dread, danger, tension, anxiety, and atmosphere. Whew! This book kept me on my toes and turning those pages. I felt for the victims and the officers tasked with finding any survivors. The side/supporting characters are fantastic and always contribute to the plot and investigations. I love both Jenna and Kane and enjoying how D.K. Hood also showcases the3ir home life with their son Tauri. This provides a well-rounded view of the characters, their personalities, and their sense of community/found family withe those close to them.
D.K. Hood did a tremendous job of creating a diabolical evil character and her vivid descriptions had me feeling as if I was right there during the action as a silent observer. She really put me through a ringer of emotions while reading this book. D.K. Hood has the knack for creating a sense of urgency in readers as her characters search for clues and conduct their investigations. As with the other books in this series, there is great character development, intriguing investigations, and brilliant investigative work. I am already chomping at the bit, with my fingers crossed that I won't have to wait too long for the next book in this brilliant and gripping series to come out.
Wonderfully written, well thought out, perfectly paced and hard to put down! If you have not read this series, you are missing out. On the bright side, most of the books in this fabulous series (such as this one), can be read a stand-alone novel.

As we get closer to Jenna's due date she and Kane have different ideas of what is too much, but Jenna might win this one.
Kids are getting ready for prom and when the last one of one group is picked up then the nights activities are in overdrive. This brings Jenna into the office in the wee hours of the morning.
Will she let her deputies handle this and stay on bed rest as she's supposed to?
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review .

4.5 stars
Book 26 and D. K. Hood delivers another gripping read!
As expected in this series, a great pace, continued character development and a new serial killer in town that Sheriff Jenna Alton and her team will catch.
Five teen couples off to prom in a limo, a night of anticipation, a night to remember, turns to tragedy and horror when a serial killer sets his sights on this group to prove Jenna and her team made a mistake on a past case. He is back and he wants recognition and enjoys every minute.
This case will take you down memory lane of past cases. Carter joins the team during the search and stays on to support and when a team member is injured, Jenna calls on Raven to continue to lend a hand after he provides some initial assistance in the search efforts.
The book ends on a happy note and to avoid too much of a spoiler for those not this far in the series yet, there is a new little addition to the group….

This is book #26 of the Kane & Alton series, and we are back in serial killer central, Black Rock Falls. Whilst it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone book, although I would recommend reading them in series order for better understanding of the characters stories. A group of 10 teenagers in a limo on their way to the school prom go missing and it's down to Sheriff Jenna Alton and her team to lead the investigation. I've read all of the book in this series, and whilst we are 26 books in, the storylines are still as gripping and exciting as they were earlier in the series.
This was a great fast paced story and I was hooked into the investigation into the missing teens right from the beginning. I like Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane's characters and have always found they work really well together both in their personal and work lives. It does feel like Jenna has been pregnant for years though, so it's exciting to find that their baby will soon be here. Fair play to Jenna though for continuing to work and be an active part in this investigation, despite Dave's misgivings about this. All of the usual supporting characters are back and I love seeing Raven becoming a more permanent member of the team.
The storyline is excellent, gripping and super fast paced, and as usual you are given plenty of suspects to ponder over. The chapter perspectives change from the missing teens to the investigating team and as the little town is known for it's serial killers, we unsurprisingly find that the bodies begin to pile up. Black Rock Falls sounds idyllic, but it really isn't somewhere you'd want to live with it's long history of attracting the most terrifying of serial killers! This latest instalment was filled with suspense and was, in parts, a little bit gruesome with the discovery of some of the bodies. It held my attention throughout and I couldn't put the book down until the very end. I can't wait for the next book in series to see how Kane and Alton's storylines pan out!! Would definitely recommend!

This may be book 26 in this amazing series but this book is just as brilliant as all the others. Fast paced storyline that gripped me from the first page and didn’t let go. Plenty of twists I couldn’t read it quick enough. I don’t know how D.K.Hood manages to write such excellent books one after the other but I.m so glad they do. This has to be my most favourite series and I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Can’t wait for the next instalment.

In treading the other stories we know Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane are married and anxious for a family. However, with no luck with a pregnancy they adopt an adorable, smart four year old Native American, their now son Tauri. He is still smart and fills their life with so much joy!
In this story we learn that he is going to have a sibling as Jenna is pregnant.
News of a missing white limousine reaches Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband David Kane they fear for the lives of the ten teenagers as they should have been enjoying their prom night,
.
As the info comes in It appears after picking up the prom passenger from their home, instead of heading to prom, the limo turned toward the darkness of the forest around Black Rock Falls.
Hours later, Jenna’s team discovers the bodies of the five boys from the car, and her heart shatters when she realizes the girls are still missing. The killer has taken them, and he hasn’t left a single trace.
However the girls are showing up -a lifeless body is discovered hanging from the branches of a tree, then and another is found on a bolder wearing her prom gown.
Jenna realizing something all too familiar – the girls’ bodies are being staged reminding her of a previous murder case. Could this be a copycat killer on the loose?
Jenna’s team works around the clock to find clues to lead them to the other three missing girls
Story is full of excitement!!
I have read several other D.K. Hood books and really enjoyed them. I read most of the Special Agent Beth Katz series and became a fan. However, I got on the Alton and Kane train late but totally enjoyed the few I have read. So here I am again. Pleased that I wasn’t all that lost by getting on board so late in this series.
Yes! I am very much looking forward to 'Kane and Alton’ Book #27.
In “A Letter from D.K. Hood” she tells us that Jenna and Kane will be back after their break – probably in time for Halloween which Ms. Hood states is her favorite time to write a story.
In her bio we learn that she always had a wicked sense of humor and was the kid who told the ghost stories around the campfire.
Now enjoys writing crime, mystery and thrillers. With many stories, waiting for her to write she looks forward to sharing many spine-
tingling stories with us!!
A Big Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for June 24, 2025.

I received an ARC from netgalley. I love Kane and Alton and all the characters. This storyline had me wondering the entire time of who done it. Sometimes you can read and just know who the killer is. D.K Hood is not one of those authors and I love it. Keeps you wanting to turn the page to keep reading. And that last sentence?! I can't wait for the next book!

Book 26 in this series and it's another good one. There is a great team in this series, all interesting characters. Fast paced and engrossing.

First off like always a big thank you to the publisher Bookouture, the author D.K.Hood , asas to Netgalley for letting me continue on with one of my all time favorite series. And I know each time I say this that every time I pick one of this up it's my new favorite but it's so hard not to keep from saying that because it's not far off from the truth, and here why hen it came to this:
sadistic killer-
Storms, mudslides, rock slides, explosions, and murders will keep you turning the pages to see what would happen next to our characters.

My heart was literally in my mouth the whole night it took me to read this next gripping installment of the Kane and Alton saga ! The most audacious of murderers who kidnaps a limo full of excited youngsters on their way to their prom. By the time they realise what is happening, they are in a blackspot in the forest with no phone signal and no way of escape. When the terrified girls are separated from the boys and led at gunpoint to a van , they can only watch with horror as their boyfriends, hogtied in the limo, are driven into the river with no chance of escape. That is just the start of their nightmare and a race against time for Jenna and her team to capture this psychopath before he kills all his victims. . Add to the mix that Jenna is in her ninth month of pregnancy, and the tension is ratcheted even higher. The killer appears to be copying his murders from a book written about Black Rock Falls Murders and wants to draw attention to his own murders for which someone else took the "credit". You can almost smell the cold dank mines where the girls are incarcerated. There's a miasma of fear, death and darkness that reaches out of the page and wraps it's tendrils of fear around your heart. Brilliant writing!

Good Girls Don't Cry (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 26)
Another terrific read in this series.
A dark and tragic fast paced storyline.
Well written characters.
A real action packed story.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

A SOLID 5⭐️!! Welcome back to Serial Killer Central. D. K. Hood spins yet another heart pounding well researched story. This is the 26th book in the series with Deputy David Kane and Sheriff Jenna Alton and I’m here for it! A very frightening scene unfolds as they discover a limo in the river with young male teenagers dead on the way to prom. Their hands are tied behind their backs. The girlfriends are missing and zero clues to guide them, An extremely sadistic killer is on the loose making the team work fast to find answers before he kills again. Storms, mudslides, rock slides, explosions, and murders will keep you turning the pages. Jenna is also days away from having her baby which adds to the stress. This could be read as a standalone but starting at the beginning and reading them all is highly recommended. Can’t wait for book 27!

This is already part 26 of the series, and I simply can’t get enough of it. All the characters are interesting, and you immediately take them into your heart. Since the beginning of the series, a number of characters have been added, and I’ve never once feared that it would diminish the quality of the books. Each one remains fantastic, and the collaboration is top-notch.
Just as the ominous phone calls come into the police station, Jenna and Dave are enjoying a well-deserved day off—but our dynamic duo wouldn’t be our dynamic duo if they left everything to the rest of the team. They spring into action, because Jenna is the kind of person who believes that, as sheriff, she is responsible for the safety of the residents. And for her, that means experiencing everything up close.
The killer in this story "treats" them to a glimpse of the past and brings it back to life. The author makes a brilliant move here. She also allows loyal readers to recall memories, and the way she describes the crime scenes leaves nothing to the imagination. She portrays the perpetrator in all his gruesome facets, and you can’t help but hope they catch this person and put them behind bars as soon as possible.
But alongside these murders, there’s also room for a truly beautiful moment.
Five stars just don’t feel like enough. That’s why I’m giving the whole night sky full of stars.
Thank you

Good Girls Don't Cry by D.K. Hood is the 26th book in the police procedural series featuring Detectives David Kane and Jenna Alton. The case gets more and more complex with an extremely sadistic serial killer. A myriad of unexpected twists and turns in an intense, fast paced thriller that is hard to put down.
Thank you to D. K. Hood, Bookouture and NetGalley and for opportunity to preview the book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
When a limo of 6 couples going to prom goes missing the call is made for on the sheriff’s office. Jenna and deputy Dave are shocked to find it in the river with all 6 boys dead. As they slowly discover girls bodies, it is clear someone is copycatting their previous cases. With Jenna heavily pregnant, the other deputies are called into investigate. Is there another serial killer in black rock falls?
I just love this series! The tension in this story was immense. I was scared at points that this was when we lost one of our main characters. The murders were described in gruesome detail and the fear the girls felt radiated from the (kindle) pages. This was really one I couldn’t put down. It was exciting but stressful at times and I really felt I was there with the team. The characters and the way they interact is very real. I’m now impatient to find out what happens next!
This could be read as standalone, but I highly recommend starting with book 1 and reading them all!

Mystery and intrigue… family and friends…secrets and red herrings…recipe for a good mystery novel. This talented author has written a page turner. Curl up in a comfy chair and try to solve this one. Warning though…this is a gruesome murder mystery. Thanks Netgalley

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
