A solid 3.5 stars with Harvey's trademark funky heroine, hot steamy love story and a good deal of humor and intrigue.

Read the series, it's not necessary but does flow well together.

This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author. Must read. Historical fiction oh yeah.

Seduced by a Scoundrel by Alyxandra Harvey offers a lively historical romance featuring Sybil Taunton, a daring, dagger-throwing Spinster Society member, and Keir Montgomery, a proper marquess. Their chemistry, built on past friendship, sparks with tension and longing, though their secret affair felt abrupt, lessening the emotional weight of their yearning. The story blends humor, a dark mystery, and an unpredictable villain. While Keir’s courtship of another woman created romantic conflict I didn’t enjoy, Sybil’s bold spirit and the vivid secondary characters—like Keir’s sister Sophie and Sybil’s warm adoptive parents—stand out. This fast-paced tale mixes spice, suspense, and heart, making it an engaging read, though not Harvey’s best. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Wow, this one is a ride! Sybil is the best kind of heroine: bold, reckless, and utterly unapologetic. After surviving being chained in a cellar (typical Tuesday for her, apparently), she’s ready to dive right back into danger, this time by stealing a betting book full of dastardly deeds from a gentlemen’s club. And of course, she drags her grumpy, rule-following neighbor, Keir, into the chaos.

Keir seems to be everything Sybil isn’t—proper, controlled, and allergic to scandal. But they’ve got a complicated history of secret longing and… well, other secrets (*ahem*). The plot races along with secret societies, sabotage, and plenty of banter. I didn’t see the villain twist coming, which is always a win.

As in previous books, the Spinster Society itself is a highlight: the fierce female friendships, the loyalty, the sheer audacity of these women taking on the ton’s worst men. It’s empowering and fun, and I hope this series keeps going.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

She's the scoundrel...

Sybil is ton adjacent. She is fearless, brave, bored and a member of the Spinster Society at 29. She craves adventure and chaos.

Keir is her marquess neighbor who thinks about marrying her daily but knows he never will. He's a gentle giant who is fascinated by Sybil but craves safety and propriety above all else. So, no to marrying Sybil even if he pines for her.

I liked this fasted paced read where Keir wants Sybil and Sybil wants action and adventure.
Recommend.

3.5. I thought the romance was interesting we have an uptight play by the rules man that is trying to fight his attraction to a woman that pushes society’s rules to make sure she and other woman are safe. There is OW drama which isn’t my fav I prefer OM drama, I like romance book men to be the jealous ones. I thought the mystery was kind of dark again for how humorous the book was. As was the drama surrounding his father, honestly how they have always been looking out for each other was very sweet. Oh and I liked his sister. The steam was good again.

Mayhem and chaos follow in Miss Sybil Taunton's wake as she navigates her way through society. As a member of the Spinster Society, she is bound to a code, one that protects the innocents and exposes the rakes and fortune hunters. Apart from her sisters-in-arms, there is one constant in her life, namely Keir Montgomery, the Marquess of Blackburn. Keir would like to avoid a scandal at any cost; however, when Sybil breaches the hallowed halls of Fortingham's Club, he has no option other than to get her out of there as quickly as possible. However, even he could not prevent her from purloining the Club's betting book, a source of valuable information to the Spinster Society. The novel is fast-paced, exciting, and at times ridiculous, but I did find myself laughing out loud at Sybil's crazy antics, and felt a great deal of compassion for Keir as he did his level best to corral her more outlandish behaviour and mitigate the damages. The novel comes to a delightful conclusion, and Sybil finally finds her place at Keir's side. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

While "Seduced by a Scoundrel" is not my favorite of Alyxandra Harvey's historical romances, it is still an entertaining read. Harvey continues her vein of unusual (and generally unapologetic about it) heroines with Sybil, a 29-year-old aristocratic adoptee who is more than friends with Keir Montgomery, Marquess Blackburn, despite his avowal that he can never marry someone who isn't the exact picture of a society sweetheart. This book has pining, danger, love, adventure, mystery, a dash of spice, and an excellent cast of secondary characters. It is very much worth a read.

3.5 stars rounded to 4. Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonsblade Publishing for a complimentary copy of this book. These opinions are my own.

The scoundrel referenced in the title of this historical romance is our heroine, not the hero. She is part of a group of ladies who are determined to save as many other young women from unscrupulous or dangerous men.
They do seem to thoroughly enjoy the various ways to do that.
The series is better read in order, but each book does follow a different lady, each one has a different set of skills, and her own reasons for what she does. Naturally, what they do is not popular with everyone and that puts them in danger. And gives us exciting stories to read.
There are wonderful characters, very special heroes, and steamy scenes.
Great fun.

Sybil Taunton has no interest in resting after her last mission, never mind that it left her chained in a cellar. And when someone begins targeting members of the Spinster Society, Sybil is ready to storm London’s most exclusive gentlemen’s club, steal the infamous betting book, and force her grumpy, oh-so-proper neighbour into helping her. Keir Montgomery, Marquis Blackburn, prefers order, quiet, and a scandal-free life. Sybil is none of those things.
A well written entertaining & fun romance. I liked both Keir & Sybil, I liked the chemistry between them, they’d been best friends once upon a time. I loved their journey to a HEA it was action packed, it was fun & it had two lovely main characters & I didn’t work out who the villain was. I’m really enjoying this series & hope there’s more

Gutted I didn’t like this one as much, because I adored the first two in the series. This one is just….odd. Very odd dynamics. I respect the author doing something a little different with this couple, at least. The curveball a quarter in just sucked most of the fun out of the story to me.

Book 3 in the spinister society. This is about Sybil who wants to steal the infamous betting book in the gentlemen's club. She pressures her neighbour Marquess Blackburn to help her... except that dangers follow them...
A terrific historical romance with a dash of danger. Really enjoy it. The romance is fun and the female friendship is terrific.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

I loved the storyline; the Spinster Society with highly skilled women who can climb trees, throw daggers, steal stuff and gather information and are not afraid to do so. I really liked Sybil, an orphaned woman adopted by the lovely lord and lady Wentworth, who are just the best parents! I liked that Keir was all proper and dutiful but that there was a pull between him and the bold, fierce and highly skilled Sybil. I liked the tension, the yearning, the draw - it was all perfect! I was so happy with this book, couldn’t put it down I read on until chapter 5 and then I found out Keir and Sybil were secretly having sex?! That was a bit off putting to me, especially since Keir is courting another woman. I’m not opposed to some amount of spice in a book but it has to add to the story and fit the narrative. In this case I felt the emotions between them would have run deeper and the yearning would have been more realistic if they weren’t already having each other, so to speak. But I loved everything else in the book; the secondary characters like the other women from the Spinster society, Keir’s sister Sophie, Sybil’s protective and amazingly sweet and supportive parents, even the butler and housekeeper at Keir’s place.
It is a well paced, fast read with real emotions, mystery and suspense, humor, love, great characters and a satisfying ending. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
This is book 3 in the Spinster Society series but can be read as a standalone.
Thank you Dragonblade Publishing, NetGalley and author for providing an advanced copy of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed it; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sybil was born in the gutter, and landed in the warm supportive nest of a revered earl and his feisty French countess. Keir was born a marquess’s heir and raised with cold disdain. Growing up they were neighbours and best friends, but after his mother’s death, everything changed.
Now, still neighbours, theirs has become an odd game of cat and mouse with benefits.
She’s skilled, determined, daring and a little reckless. He’s the picture perfect lord; haughty and irreproachable. She’s found her place with the Spinster Society and their secret missions, and it’s said he’s courting his future marchioness... until he becomes her decoy.

Tons of teasing, a betting book scandal, secret societies, ballroom warfare, threats and disaster. Trouble and mayhem always follow in her wake, and he can’t help but wanting to be her knight. Except, she doesn’t need one... or maybe a little... and only if it’s him.

This book was a blast! Exciting, action-packed, witty, dry and delectable!
It’s a grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, it’s always been you romance with a thrilling mystery on the side. It’s found family and fierce female friendship, playful and cheeky, and utterly enthralling. The romance is fun and unrestrained with a touching soft spot. The plot is strong and holds till the very end; I did not see that villain coming.

I loved that the MCs are older and share so much history – and a fair bit of secret present as well. I loved that he’s reluctant yet can’t stay away. He’s all in and doesn’t judge. Her parents are unconventional and brilliant, her friends are talented and colourful, and she herself is this undeniable whirlwind of mischief and devotion to the cause.
With each book this series gets better, and I hope there’s many more to come!

This book was pretty strange. It felt like we picked up in the middle of Keir and Sybil’s story, not at the beginning.

The action in the book was a fun touch (along with the whole concept of the Spinster society), but the love story and everything else felt mashed together. This read more like a novella filling space between main books instead of a main book itself.

Keir’s whole character was suss too—how he had this sudden flip-around regarding marrying Sybil.

Like I said, pretty strange book. I don’t think this author knows how to write books.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Wildly inappropriate Sybil is intent on getting justice for women. Staid Keir has always loved her, but he can't see her as his marquess. They cannot ignore the physical attraction between them. They must unite to fight off enemies. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

Fun and steamy, did not put it down until finished.
Sybil is 29 and a force in the Spinster Society.
She rights wrongs and helps women often to her own detriment.
Her childhood friend Keir the Marquess was often beaten by his father.
Keir adheres to a strict set of rules, fascinated by Sybil but will never marry the improper woman.
They come together often for pleasure but without strings.
I truly enjoyed the complication and changes in their relationship.
Lots of action and fun.

I enjoyed the continuation of the series and especially appreciated Sybil's sharp dialogue, but for some reason, this installment didn’t hit quite as strongly as the first two books for me. That said, I continue to love the Spinster Society and everything it represents. I really hope Harvey keeps the series going—I'd love to see Peony or Priya get their own stories next!
