Sara Beth Durst is a gift to the world of fantasy. Her writing style is both cool and cozy, making it a perfect combination for a relaxing read. Add to this her ability to create a vivid world with interesting and likeable characters, and a solid magic system, and you have yourself a 5-star read!

I am leaving my honest opinion voluntarily and without coercion.

Back into the world we left with the Spellshop, we are now thrown into a world with sentient plants and a gardener attempting to save the magical greenhouses that are failing, unaliving the plants they house. Caitlin Davies was the perfect narrator for this story; her voice was both inviting to listen to and expressive, adding to the overall experience.

Though the situation is dire, the atmosphere is light and airy, filled with humor, witty banter, a budding romance, singing plants, and a winged cat!
I absolutely loved this book and look forward to adding it to my library.

If you are looking for a cozy, magical read with a beautiful second-chance storyline and light romance, The Enchanted Greenhouse is a must!

Thank you so much, Netgalley, Macmillan Audio, and Sarah Beth Durst

Happy Release Day!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for The Enchanted Green House by Sarah Beth Durst

The Enchanted Green House follows librarian Terlu Perna as she awakens from her punishment for using forbidden magic. Book 2 in the Spellshop series is just as heartfelt and cozy as the original. Terlu stumbles across a failing magical greenhouse filled with sentient plants and a grumpy gardener named Yarrow. The narrator for this book does a wonderful job as Terlu and was able to keep me invested in the story and setting. My one personal gripe was how much I missed the original characters, and I hope we get to see more of them in the future. Regardless of that this is fast becoming one of my favorite cozy series, and I can see myself curling up to return to this world in the future.

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to read this alc.

Terlu Perna creates a magical plant, she’s punished and turned into a statue—until she unexpectedly awakens on a mysterious island filled with magical greenhouses.
Taken in by a grumpy gardener and a sentient rose, she discovers the island’s magic is dying and sets out to save it, even if it means breaking the rules again.

I want to preface this by saying The Spellshop is one of my fav books of all time so my expectations for this were in outer space.

I loved how Terlu created Caz because she wanted a friend so so precious. I listened to this on audio & I instantly felt like it was Amy Adams from the movie Enchanted! I was smiling in so many moments between Terlu and Yarrow they were so sweet! This was very cute but it’s on the extreme side of cozy. I would have loved it more if Terlu and Lottie didn’t have the same personality. There needed to be something to offset their whimsy which I normally love it just felt a little overloaded here. I think this would still be great for people who genuinely love cozy fantasy. Thank you to NetGalley & Macmillan Audio

The Enchanted Greenhouse is a cozy fantasy full of plants, magic, and second chances!

I was so excited to hear that The Enchanted Greenhouse follows Terlu, the librarian who was turned into a wooden statue for illegally using magic to create Caz, the sentient spider plant from The Spellshop. She suddenly finds herself awake and alone in the cold on an almost deserted island six years later. The island is home to hundreds of magical greenhouses and a grumpy gardener, Yarrow.

As Terlu attempts to figure out why she was sent to this island and awakened, she also learns that magic of the greenhouses is failing. She could get in serious trouble if she is caught breaking the law again, but she knows she may the only one who can help save the greenhouses. Together, Terlu and Yarrow attempt to make sense of the dead sorcerer’s spells to restore magic to the greenhouses all while helping each other heal from their pasts.

Despite the adorable premise, I found myself struggling to get through this book at times. I recognize that this is supposed to be a low stakes story, but that paired characters I did not connect with, made it difficult to care about what was happening at times. Terlu and Yarrow both had moments that frustrated me due to their respective internal conflicts being so repetitive. None of the many supporting characters charmed me as much Caz, Meep, and the Pinecone Coven did in the Enchanted Greenhouse either.

That said, there were things I absolutely adored about this book as well. I loved exploring all the different greenhouses, learning about magic involved, and meeting their inhabitants. I also thought that the slow burn romance between Terlu and Yarrow was sweet and realistic, and their grumpy x sunshine dynamic was a delight. The themes of second chances woven throughout the story were incredibly heartwarming and uplifting as well.

The Enchanted Greenhouse audiobook featured the same narrator as The Spellshop. While I did find some of the narrator’s voices for the plant characters to be annoying, I enjoyed her performance overall.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio for providing this advance listening copy for review via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This truly is an enchanting book. Love the cozy vibes & magical mystery. I enjoyed this book more than the first. More likable characters. I might like this one more because it related to it more. I have often been seen as an outcast but I don’t like to be alone, and sometimes I can’t stop talking. But I love the camaraderie, and healing, it’s a beautiful journey with a great happy ending. If you like cozy, fantasy, found family, healing relationships, love, & humor this is a book for you.

A Cozy Fantasy Full of Second Chances, Magical Greenhouses & Slow-Burn Romance✨

The Enchanted Greenhouse is a gentle, feel-good escape into a lush world of magical flora, whimsical creatures, and deeply rooted themes of healing, second chances, and self-acceptance. It’s the kind of story that feels like comfort food, especially in audiobook form, thanks to a narrator whose voice is genuinely like a warm hug!

We are reunited with Terlu Perna: a curvy, food-loving, utterly relatable protagonist who literally broke the law out of loneliness (honestly, same energy) in the first of the series, The Spellshop, and is punished by being turned into a wooden statue. When she mysteriously awakens in the middle of a snowy, nearly deserted island full of enchanted greenhouses, you just know magic (and maybe a bit of mischief) is about to unfold.

There’s a soft tension throughout as Terlu finds her footing in this strange new world. The greenhouses are filled with jaw-droppingly vivid detail—lush plants, sentient blooms, and cozy corners bursting with wonder. I adored the smaller dragons, Emerald the flying cat (😭), and the magical spider plant that started it all. It felt like stepping into a Studio Ghibli film in book form.

The story is paced like a slow, steady unfurling vine. And while there were a few moments where my attention drifted (possibly due to not having read the first book), the warmth of the characters and setting always brought me back. The romance is a slow burn in the best way, gentle, respectful, and quietly swoon-worthy. The grumpy gardener and Terlu build something tender over time, with small acts of kindness and shared purpose that hit harder than any dramatic love declarations ever could.

Underneath the whimsy is a powerful message about redemption, choosing joy, and giving yourself (and others) another shot at happiness. It’s a story about loneliness, healing, and how we bloom better with a little care and community.

If you’re into cozy fantasy, found family, magical plants, and romance that simmers slowly, The Enchanted Greenhouse is a delightful listen that will leave your heart full and your stomach craving honey cakes.

I am in the minority about this book. I didn’t love it.

The book is pitched as a cozy fantasy. The FMC finds herself on a nearly deserted island with endless greenhouses and only one other human- a gardener. He enlists her to help save the greenhouses. Mysteries abound regarding the sorcerer who created such varied and immersive greenhouses.

I love greenhouses. I love plants. I love cozy books. This one was not for me. The story dragged on. The FMC’s inner monologue is pedantic. I struggled to get through the book.

I receive an advanced copy of the audiobook. I’m also in the minority not liking the narrator. She does an excellent job of differentiating between the voices of the many plants. The high pitched voice for the sentient rose makes sense for the character, but it was incredibly hard to listen to.

This book and the Spellshop have a huge following. This one wasn’t for me, but it might be a great read for you!

I loved The Spell Shop and now I love The Enchanted Greenhouse. Being a plant and herb lover myself, it was fun to read about them in this cozy fantasy. I definitely enjoyed being back in The Spell Shop world but you can definitely read this as a stand alone. Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this delightful audio arc!

This was as magical and whimsical as I’d hoped it would be. For fans of House by the Cerulean Sea, you’d love this.
I believe this book was a little more fun than its predecessor, The Spellshop, and I do wish the two had been more connected (it was so close).
But overall it was lighthearted, magical, and a world I wish I could visit.

Thank you NetGalley for an Advanced Listener copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Terlu Perna, former librarian and creator of Caz (Spellshop), has woken up on an island with magical greenhouses. The gardner, Yarrow, is in need of a sorcerer to restore their failing magic.

The pacing was on-point, there was just the right amount of emotional connection with action. Terlu and Yarrow made the best couple – who doesn’t love a man who bakes? Ha! Some of my favorite characters were the secondary ones, especially Lottie and Dendy. I felt that Durst gave a lot of attention to the side characters, which added to the richness and depth of the story.

Even though this is the second book (after Spellshop), it can still be read as a standalone. The audiobook narration, by Caitlin Davies, was so enjoyable that I couldn’t stop listening, and kept telling myself ‘one more chapter.’ Davies was able to transform the story through her use of unique voices to capture the cast of characters' individual style and personality.

What else can I say about this book, other than it was absolutely delightful! I loved listening / reading every minute of it. This book is the definition of a cozy fantasy for me. It had everything that I was looking for – sweet Hallmark-vibes romance, mixed with a dose of magic, a dash of winged cats, and even some tiny dragons. It was a perfect read with a cup of tea and a slice of honey cake.

Sarah Beth Durst does it again by delivering you the ultimate cozy fantasy. I was absolutely smitten with The Enchanted Greenhouse from the first page.

The book starts with Terlu being sentenced for her "crimes" for creating Caz, when awaken she ends up on a mysterious island filled with multitude of greenhouses, a flying cat (my personal favorite) and talking plants 🤭.

This made my heart feel so full and giddy. The writing is beautifully done where I was able to picture characters and scenes perfectly. The romance doesn't overshadow the story and is the perfect amount.

Lastly, you dont have to read The Spellshop first in order to read this book. It follows different characters, so you might see some from The Spellshop mentioned in The Enchanted Greenhouse.

I was lucky enough to receive an ALC, and let me tell you, the narrator nailed Terlu. She held me captivate and did justice to the character and story!

Thank you so much, Netgalley and Macmillian Audio for the ALC. 💕

My thanks for the audio ARC goes to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio. I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Genre: Cozy Fantasy, Romantasy
Spice Level: Off page spice
Representation: Gay secondary characters and racial/magical diversity
Narration: Spot on!

THE ENCHANTED GREENHOUSE, a stand alone novel in the SPELLSHOP universe, compresses a world of problems into a glasshouse.

I was quite entranced with this world within a world concept. As I think back on it, we could extrapolate references to climate change and how we care for our world, but it was not an overt or in your face message.

The characters were flawed, and I felt a lot of compassion for them and their foibles.

I was a little confused at first if this was a sequel to The Spellshop. It is not—but it sort of references it. The characters are not exactly overlapping. So, I would call it a companion novel because the world is the same, and the overarching government that repressed the magic in the previous book are still in force.

If you enjoyed The Spellshop, pick this one up. If you haven't read the first one yet, you might enjoy this one more if you read it prior to this one, but either way will work.

Happy reading!

Utterly delightful. I loved being back in this magical world that Sarah Beth Durst has created. This time it's with new characters, but theres such a fun connection to the characters of the first book. Terlu created Caz, and this is her story. This book is like a warm hug on a cold winter day. It takes place during winter, yet the atmosphere was so cozy. I could easily picture myself in the little cabin with Terlu and Yarrow. I really liked how Terlu grew during this novel. Her past was something she had to reckon with this entire book, and it felt necessary. Yarrow was the perfect cinnamon roll, and I loved his slow reveal. Of course, there are wonderful magical side characters here that all learn and grow alongside Terlu and Yarrow. They were all so precious, and I loved every minute I spent back in this magical world.
I could not imagine these audiobooks without Caitlin Davies. She captured each character so well. Her voices were wonderful. I loved her performance in both of these novels.

I listened to the ALC of The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst and narrated by Caitlin Davies and I really enjoyed this story. Caitlin Davies does an excellent job with the narration and voicing all the characters. Our FMC, Terlu is a librarian at the Great Library of Alyssium. She is so lonely. She has tried very hard to make friends, and no one seems to want to be her friend. She is trying too hard. She is too much for people. So, she uses magic and creates a sentient spider plant. This magic is discovered and her punishment for using magic is to be turned into a statue. A period of time passes and Terlu wakes up on an island, and as Terlu discovers, the island contains enchanted greenhouses. More than that, there is a winged cat and a talking rose named Lotti, a grumpy gardner who barely speaks but loves to bake and Terlu who cannot be alone and worries that she is once again, too much. This is a cozy fantasy that is lovely, and joyful and hopeful. If cozy fantasy isn't your thing, then maybe don't pick this up. But, I really enjoyed it and I liked it better than the Spellshop which I gave 3.75 stars. I recommend it. Thank you so much to Net Galley and MacMillan Audio for my ALC! This book comes out on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

I knew this was set in The Spellshop world, but I didn’t realize it was about the librarian who created Kaz—the sentient spider plant!

The Enchanted Greenhouse follows Terlu, who was turned into a wooden statue for using illegal magic and wakes up years later in a magical greenhouse on a quiet island. It’s got a slowburn romance, sentient plants, and all the cozy fantasy vibes you’d expect from a Sarah Beth Durst book.

If you liked The Spellshop, you’ll definitely enjoy this one. I listened to the audiobook, the narration was great!

Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio for the ALC!! I absolutely adore this series!! The Enchanted Greenhouse was just as amazing as The Spellshop! It’s so cosy and sweet and the found family is incredible! There’s talking plants, a winged cat, tiny dragons and magic! Terlu finds herself awake on an island after being a statue for 6 years for using a spell to create a talking plant. There, she meets Yarrow, the grumpy gardener who thinks she’s a sorcerer there to help him save the greenhouses. Of course she ends up helping even at the risk of punishment again because she’s such a sweet soul! The relationship between Terlu and Yarrow is so perfect and endearing and I loved how she’s able to know what he needs from her and vice versa! I really loved this and can’t recommend it enough!!

I LOVED The Spellshop, and I’d venture to say I loved this one even more! Of course, there’s a linguisist librarian, which is very much in my wheelhouse. But the author managed to balance lush descriptors of this magical world with driving the plot forward so that the world-building didn’t take over. That’s a huge win in my book. Loved the romance, loved the growth, this was just a fun read as a whole!

I absolutely loved The Enchanted Greenhouse. This is such a beautiful cozy fantasy. The story is about second chances and found family. I absolutely adore Terlu. She is the creator of the sentient plant Kaz from book one The Spellshop. She gets into trouble for creating him and her punishment is being turned into a statue. She is suddenly awoken from being a statue and she wakes to an enchanted greenhouse and a gardener named Yarrow. I think the growth and relationship between Terlu and Yarrow was so beautiful. He was all alone and she needed someone also. The greenhouses are starting to mess up so they have to work together to fix them. This is a slow burn romance, grumpy/sunshine, a plus-size heroine, found family, magic and sentient plants. The audiobook narration was beautiful and cozy. What a wonderful companion story to continue the series.
Thank you NetGalley for an audiobook arc in exchange for an honest review.
