The Enchanted Greenhouse is the perfect follow-up to last year’s the Spellshop, except this time the book follows the woman who created our sentient spider plant Kaz, Terlu.

Cozy fantasy is not always a hit for me, but this one had it all: talking plants, tiny dragons, found family, grumpy/sunshine romance, and the burning desire to do what is right, not what is easy. This book is like being wrapped in a warm hug with a steaming cup of tea and of course, a side of honey cakes.

Such a cute story, absolutely loved it. I can't wait to see how they expand the wonderfully established world and characters.

We are back in the world of The Spellshop and boy oh boy have I missed it.

I read The Spellshop last year thanks to my Owlcrate Subscription choosing it as one of the fall monthly picks. I feel in love with this cozy fantasy world and was hoping and praying we’d get more books in this world. Thankfully Sarah answered that request and gave us The Enchanted Greenhouse!! Which I’m happy to report was even more adorable than its predecessor.

4 ⭐️- Just like the first book, The Enchanted Greenhouse is a wholesome, cozy fantasy that feels like receiving a warm hug. I was lucky enough to listen to this as an ALC. and I cannot stress enough how relaxing and soothing this story was. It’s been such a rough week personally and this book gave me such a serotonin boost.

In case y’all don’t know our book follows, Terlu Perna, who got mentioned in book one thanks to certain spider plant 😉. She’s sent to a magical island full of enchanted greenhouses as punishment for using magic. On the island she encounters a grumpy gardener and his flying cat. Both content to be left alone. However, he needs her help because his greenhouses are mysteriously dying and he doesn’t know how to save them. Terlu decides to make up for her past mistakes and will do anything to help them.

I cannot stress this enough how adorable this book was. Terlu, was our adorkably awkward sunshine FMC that you can’t help but relate to her. Yarrow, is our dashing but grumpy MMC. But even though he’s rough around the edges and has been hurt before. Watching the romance blossom between these two was so charming and sweet. I think my only complaint with the book was that I wanted more romance between the two because I loved them so much.

Besides the romance the story itself was fast paced and intriguing. Following along with the characters as they try to uncover the reason for the failing greenhouses was a joy to watch from beginning to end.
Listen I could go on and on about how much I enjoyed this book but I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll leave y’all with this. Buy the freaking book when it comes out later this July. It’s not one to miss!

Once again Sarah Beth Durst has out done herself. I love the whimsical world she has created in the Spellshop series. The characters are super enjoyable and I love all the talking plant drama. I also like that each book can be read as a stand alone yet they still give value to each story without being essential to enjoying each one. I loved listening to the audiobook for The Spellshop and was so pleased to get the audio for The Enchanted Greenhouse sent to me. The Spellshop is hard to beat and a cosy romance but I think The Enchanted Greenhouse tops it. I hope there are more of these books to come!

This was just as sweet as the first one. If you were a fan of The Spellshop, you’ll enjoy this one as well. These are interconnected books, but I totally recommend reading them in order. THE ENCHANTED GREENHOUSE was a delightful book that speaks to things big and small. While it is sweet and charming, it also speaks to the consequences of limiting access to information. In a time with book bans at the center of culture wars, this book had great commentary on such actions while wrapping us in the warm hug of kind people in an enchanting world. I've already had my author interview with Sarah Beth Durst, and she had some wonderful insight into these themes in her work. Thank you for this opportunity to read and review this book.

This was cute it would be a fun read for any person with a green thumb that adored their plants to the extreme. The FMC definitely seemed like she was over her head.

4.5 stars! The Enchanted Greenhouse was so cute and fun! I really enjoyed The Spellshop from this author last year and this new release in the series I enjoyed even more than that. This is a cozy fantasy series and I find them so charming, heartwarming, and fun. The romance in this one was so sweet too!

Terlu was lonely and ended up breaking magical law when she created Kaz, a sentient spider plant (a character featured in The Spellshop). For the sentencing of her crime she was transformed into a statue and placed in The Great Library to serve as a warning to all librarians, scholars, and patrons who might try to defy the law. Finally restored to her normal state after 6 years, Terlu wakes up to find herself on a snowy island and very confused.

Terlu finds herself on a magical island filled with enchanted, long-forgotten and abandoned greenhouses. She finds herself on this island with the only inhabitants being Yarrow, a gardener, and a flying cat. Terlu is determined to help Yarrow bring the plants back to life and revive all of the greenhouses! Her romance with Yarrow along the way just so sweet and I loved these characters so much. I’m also always a sucker for cute sentient characters in books and this one delivered! All the characters were just so easy to get wrapped up in and I loved them.

I adored this magically delightful read! I received an audio ALC from the publisher and highly recommend trying it out in audio. The narration was done so well, really pulls you into the story quickly, and brings the characters to life!

I will fully support any book with talking plants. The Spellshop had one but this book has multiple (which is ofc better). I love those plants. The island seems like a lovely place to live on -- so cozy. I loved the imagery and so many honey cakes. I also liked the connections to the Spellshop, it gave more context. I personally didn't vibe with the romance part as much but I did like the characters individually and their interactions. The audiobook narration was great as well. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a cozy fantasy with a lot of talking plants, honey cakes and second chances.

I loved this book. It was so heartwarming. It was fun to see the growth in the male main character from grumpy to kind. This book is set in the same world as the Spell Shop, which I also loved. I really enjoy the magical, mystical characters, and this one had DRAGONS! I hope there will be more books in this setting. I will read them all. This copy I received was an audiobook. The narrator was very good and it was an easy and enjoyable experience for me. I will highly recommend this book to my friends. Thank you for allowing me an advanced copy of this. I have already preordered the physical book.

The Enchanted Greenhouse is a story of magic, healing, and the importance of community. It made me want to walk around a greenhouse to look at plants and also bake cakes and bread. I found this to be more whimsical than The Spellshop and heavily rooting for Terlu to succeed.

This was such a cozy read. Sometimes you just want a low stakes fantasy and this delivers on that. There were just enough problems to move the story along and it's nice to not have to worry about if a character will survive in a fantasy or not.

There was a scene in the greenhouse involving a philodendron that caused me to tear up though.

The audiobook was very well done and I couldn't get enough of it.

Oh, Sarah Beth Durst did it again! I loved absolutely loved The Spellshop and when I found out The Enchanted Greenhouse existed, I needed to read this book immediately! The Enchanted Greenhouse was so cute and so cozy, making me really sad that I can only visit this world through the pages of the book/via audiobook.

If you’re looking for a whimsical cozy fantasy, this is it. I absolutely adored The Spellshop and I loved that this was set in the same world with different characters. This interconnected standalone, was so enjoyable and I loved the characters. If you’re looking for a cozy fantasy with magical beings, talking plants, and a romantic love story … this is it. It’s basically a warm hug in book format. Oh and don’t forget the

Terlu was a statue before coming to the island and meeting Yarrow. There is a lot of grief and PTSD shown throughout the book but it just made me love the characters more. Their entire goal was to save the greenhouse by using magic, where magic is outlawed.

All of the taking plants and their personalities were fun to experience. The concept of this was so unique and I was obsessed with all the descriptions of food and the cottage. You could just imagine so clearly.

I love that we got background on how Caz was made from The Spellshop. It was also interesting to see some of the punishments for magic before those events as well.

I will say, I wish this was released in the winter since it was set in winter but other than that, it was fantastic.

The audio was absolutely fantastic. Caitlin Davies did a phenomenal job encapsulating each character.

Cute, Cozy fantasy!
While this is the second book in the series, it can be read/listened to as a standalone, but I still highly recommend checking out the The Spellshop first.
This follows Terlu a librarian who was turned into a statue after turning a spider plant into a sentient. After an unknown amount of time, she returns to her human form and meets Yarrow a gardener on an abandoned island. He has brought her back thinking that she is a sorceress who can help him save the greenhouses on the island because everything is mysteriously dying.
This is a low stake, sweet & cozy fantasy! Featuring sentient plants and a winged cat! I absolutely love the side characters & the found family that is formed throughout the story.

This book is the perfect follow up companion novel to The Spellshop! Both novels are great cozy fantasy reads, and I liked how there are nods to Caltrey and the characters in The Spellshop in this book. The Enchanted Greenhouse I think can be read as a standalone, but I highly suggest reading it after The Spellshop.

I always appreciate sentient plants (like Caz and another character in The Spellshop), and there is plenty of that in this book as well! While I loved the Spellshop, I actually think I enjoyed the romantic subplot a bit more in The Enchanted Greenhouse, which is saying a lot! Definitely a bit of a grumpy x sunshine situation ☺️

As for the narration, I thought it was very well done! The narrator’s voice was very calming and easy to listen to, which matches the cozy fantasy vibe of the book.

I think I liked this book even better than The Spellshop. For starters, flying cats were featured more heavily-- and there were dragons who love honeycakes.
I enjoyed the arc of the main character and the way that friends and famy faced the challenges keeping them separated. I would love to visit this location again in a future novel.

This story is well written and can be read without reading the other book in the series. I was able to listen to the audiobook. The narrator has a pleasant voice and good pace.

Cozy and sweet but I thought it could have been a bit shorter; there was some repetition that got annoying but that might be what some folks need in a book. I love the idea of talking, sentient plants!

I love the narrator! I have listened to her narrate other books so there was some adjustment of reminding myself I was in a different world.

This was very similar to Durst's The Spellshop, but the story can stand alone. For readers that liked The Spellshop this is a perfect recommendation. If you're looking for a lighthearted cozy fantasy with a lot of heart, this is a great pick. The narration was a little overly-sweet for my liking, but it was a nice comfort read.
