Another good book by Margolin. Plots are interesting and characters well developed. It is actually two mysteries in one book.

After Defense Attorney Karen Wyatt exposed the local corruption in the local police force and District Attorney’s office, she found herself being set up on a fake drug charge, resulting in imprisonment. When she was ultimately cleared of the conspiracy and reinstated to the bar, Karen set out to find out who ordered her set-up, only to find out that those responsible were dead or in Witness Protection.
Once her status as a defense attorney was reinstated, Karen was heavily involved in defending her client in a complex case of murder, in which he was wrongfully accused. To protect her client and prove his innocence, she utilizes her brilliant skills as a lawyer to not only navigate the complex setup against him but to finally reach the shocking revelation of who set her up and sent her to prison.

Another great story by a dynamic author.
Karen Wyatt was framed and sent to jail, bring disbarred from her career along the way.
After bring cleared when a whistleblower cones forth to reveal the setup by the police,
she is released and reinstated as a lawyer.
And now she is on a mission: to only represent people she genuinely believes innocent
and to find out who was behind her police frame and why.
Great suspense with riveting action. Police corruption, gangland drugs and political corruption are
just a tip of the iceberg.
Super story with strong characters and a pace that moves right along.
Margolin grabbed the golden ring, once again.

Philip Margolin is a go to author for me. His legal dramas are always good. However this one had a lot of storylines and a lot of characters and At times it was hard to follow which storyline the chapter was for. I did want yo finish it though, to see how it all tied together. A good read though.

Corruption in law enforcement, and especially in a DA's office, is quite troublesome to me. So I read with interest as one of my favorite authors goes digging in an effort to find who is the bad person in the DA's office, and who murdered a rich criminal. As usual, author Phillip Margolin takes a steady and readable approach to his story. Karen Wyatt, a prominent attorney, is set up by these corrupt forces and spends a year in jail. Her search for revenge, funded by the huge settlement she received for being wrongly incarcerated, is a satisfying read. The congressman who was abducted by aliens is a bit nuts, but he was friends with a murder victim. Margolin brings it all to interesting conclusions. I enjoyed it!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

False Witness by Phillip Margolin is a fast-paced legal thriller that wastes no time plunging into its tangled web of conspiracy, danger, and deception. The tension is palpable throughout as Karen, our determined protagonist, races against the clock to expose a deadly truth. Margolin’s crisp writing and strong narrative voice make it a breeze to read, I tore through the entire book in a single afternoon.

That said, the breakneck speed comes at a cost. The plot is jam-packed with twists, subplots, and characters, and while it kept the action moving, it left me feeling a bit untethered. I never had enough time to settle into one storyline or develop a real emotional connection with any of the characters. Each arc seemed to resolve, or pivot, too quickly to truly resonate.

Still, Margolin’s command of pacing and legal drama is undeniable. If you’re looking for a smart, edge-of-your-seat read that delivers on suspense and intrigue, this book delivers. Just be prepared for a whirlwind of events that may leave you wishing for a little more breathing room.

For readers who like:
-Legal thrillers with nonstop action
-Fast-paced reads you can finish in a day
-Conspiracies, courtroom drama

Final Verdict
While False Witness didn’t give me the emotional depth I crave, it’s undeniably entertaining. Great for a quick, high-stakes thrill, just don’t expect to get too attached.

Grateful to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Phillip Margolin for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

Defense Attorney Karen Wyatt was unjustly imprisoned on a fake drug charge. Once she is exonerated she makes it her mission to find the corrupt people who set her up. I very much enjoyed this mystery.

Unfortunately I felt like this story has way too much going on, which made it really difficult to feel invested in any of the story. I felt like there was not enough time dedicated to an arc before moving on, which made me not feel attached to any specific characters. I did enjoy the writing style and the voice, but really struggled to connect with the story.
