This was my first Tom Rollins book AND my first Paul Heatley book; but I have definitely found a new author to read. I am still out of breath from reading this story!
The hero of the book is Tom Rollins who is former special forces and thus comes with all the skills you would expect when it comes to carrying out the mission. This is book #17 in this series, but I had no problem jumping straight into the story and characters with no previous knowledge of them.
The background to this story is big pharma and the lengths they will go to make money. Killing people seems to be just another area of operations for them.
In this story, Tom's friend Dennis witnesses a brutal murder and then goes to the police with Tom to report it only to find that the cops are all in the pocket of big pharma and thus Tom and Dennis are now being hunted by big pharma's goons. The book is super fast-paced and it is hard to set it down.
I really enjoyed the supporting cast of characters in the book; including Melissa (the bartender/girlfriend) and Eric (the PI). I love books with strong female characters and Melissa definitely proves herself to be one.
Just a warning, there is a lot of brutal killing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for supplying me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Great to have Tom back again, but why does trouble always find him? Well, I’m glad it does, ‘cause it makes for another great story. Big Pharma, protest, murder, crooked cops, mercenaries and more keep the action moving and the reader anxious for the next installment.

Excellent! From beginning to end. Great characters and amazing storyline. I love this series. This book an an excellent read.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you are unfamiliar with the Tom Rollins series, Deep Water is book 17. The main character is Reacher-esque, nomadic after years in the military including special forces. In this book, Tom is working construction in New Jersey when a coworker friend witnesses a murder of a local activist who was blocking a pharma company from building a marina that would take their company to the next level. Tom goes with him to report it to the police only to become the next target of them.
I find this series an easy read. They are not groundbreaking reading, but quick and enjoyable. You know Tom will be violent so triggers for that as there are always some descriptive injuries/killings but he and his friends usually get through everything relatively unscathed.
This one adds in the ethics of pharmaceutical companies as Tom, his girlfriend and his coworker try to stay ahead of the murderers who want to silence anyone who knows about the activist's death or the reason for it. A little good vs evil, rich vs poor and fighting for what is right.
If you love Reacher, this one is for you. Thanks to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for the copy for review.

Tom Rollins is a drifter who minds his own business until he stumbles upon a wrong that needs to be righted and then he goes for it at breakneck speed. This is the usual Rollins formula and it's a good easy read.

As usual from this author, a book with fast and entertaining action, and also with a plot that's rather unbelievable. I also doubt you will find many former Navy SEALS killing fellow Americans, but I guess you need a skilled enemy for the good action.

Paul Heatley, have you heard of him? If not then you better redeem yourself. Deep Water is another great adventure with Tom Rollins from this great storyteller. Once again Tom finds himself in a situation where someone needs help. It evolves into some great action and the downfall of some bad characters. I love the way Rollins deals with punishment and standing up for the little guy. I think it's a human thing, enjoying swift justice wherever it may be necessary. In this series we get to see a lot of different towns around US. I must thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for supplying me with this advance copy.

Deep Water by Paul Heatley is a highly recommended action-packed thriller. This is the seventeenth book featuring Tom Rollins, a former black ops specialist who is known for vigilantism and seeking justice by what ever means possible. This is another intense action/adventure page-turner.
Tom Rollins is working a construction job in Newark, NJ, when Dennis, a young man who he works with, witnesses a brutal crime and sees the perpetrators. Tom accompanies him to the police to report it, but it quickly becomes clear to Tom that the police know who did it and are being paid off by them. When the two crooked officers come to their job site to take Dennis and Tom in for questioning, Tom secretly prepares for what he knows will be their demise. He's right, but his preparation means they escape. Now they are on the run being ruthlessly hunted by a security force representing the Penneys and their pharmaceutical empire.
Expect non-stop action, constant threats, and a credible adversary in this suspenseful thriller. The pages will fly by following the mysteries, murders, violence, and henchmen galore. Sure, you'll have to set disbelief aside, but that is easily done while following the actions of Rollins, an intelligent, observant, and, above all else, lethal one-man-demolition-crew seeking justice.
Even though this is the seventeenth book in the series, Deep Water can easily be read as a stand alone novel. There is enough background information seamlessly included in the plot to understand Tom Rollins and his background. Those new to the series could always go back and read previous titles if you enjoy this fast-paced, gripping thriller.
Deep Water is a perfect choice for those who want a thriller featuring an action-hero plot. Thanks to Inkubator Books for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.
The review will be published on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

When you can't trust the law, you make your own. Former black ops specialist Tom Rollins is trying to live a quiet life in Newark when his friend Dennis witnesses a brutal crime. Reporting it to the police only puts them in greater danger, the lead detective is in the pocket of a powerful and ruthless family, The Penneys. They have money, influence, and a deadly secret tied to their pharmaceutical empire, and they'll kill to protect it! Once again! Great book and series! Every time it’s like watching an action movie! There’s always great suspense, mystery, murder, big shoot outs, fantastic characters and some great thrilling scenes! The storyline is very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book and series! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! Can’t wait for more!

You just know Rollins in Jersey, it is going to be epic! Relentless action, corruption, sociopaths, torture, murders, greed, and it just doesn't stop. If you like the one-man army that can take them all on, think Die Hard, you will love this. And for a change Rollins actually has a girlfriend, at least for a while, until he moves on and trouble finds him again.

This is the author's best novel yet. Once again Tom Rollins is faced with seemingly impossible odds, and the question of
whether he will succeed, despite these odds, is for the reader to find out. His allies are Melissa, Dennis and Cindy. His main enemy, Lee, is an ex navy SEAL.
This is a real page turner and I found it hard to put down, but I finished it on the second sitting.
Highly recommended.
