The Colors of the Sea is an action filled adventure written around the journey of five young adults who embark across the Atlantic Ocean to discover deeply held secrets about their unique origins. While there may be a few 'adult-centered' themes written into the plotline of this children's novel, the author remains respectful to her readers at all times. The Colors of the Sea is basically a novel that will lead readers to think and discover themes and reach solutions on their own. This novel is filled with fantastic characters such as water sprites and Mer-people. The history of the Mer-people is expertly provided and described by the author as she leads readers through a journey of self-discovery. Readers will enjoy the vivid descriptions of scenery and captivating dialogue exchanged between the characters.

🌊 Alea Aquarius: The Colors of the Sea – A Magical Middle Grade Adventure
This book is absolutely brimming with imagination! Alea Aquarius: The Colors of the Sea continues Alea’s journey with all the ingredients middle grade readers love: underwater mystery, friendship, magical self-discovery, and just the right amount of mischief.
🧜♀️ What I Enjoyed:
✨ The story world is vivid and whimsical—perfect for readers who dream of oceans, mermaids, and mystical legends.
🎸 The Alpha Cru’s band moments and Alea’s growing connection with Lennox add charming layers to the story, blending modern life with ancient magic.
🗺️ The journey to Loch Ness is a fun twist that gives the story a slightly darker edge while keeping it kid-friendly and adventurous.
While the book was a little much for me personally—so many elements packed into one story—it’s exactly the kind of bold, magical tale that will capture the hearts of younger readers looking for fantasy with heart and humor.
💬 Final Take: A vibrant, fast-paced ocean adventure for readers who love big feelings, deep mysteries, and magical destinies.
