Lovely, Second-Chance Regency Romance with a Touch of Mystery
Some may call Tristan a scandalous rogue, but his reputation was shaped by betrayal. He and Diana met at a house party and fell quickly, deeply in love—but fate, trickery, and misunderstandings tore them apart. An older suitor sought Diana’s hand and would stop at nothing to get it. When memories were lost and hearts were broken, three long years passed.
Now, Diana is determined to get answers—and maybe a little revenge. When her maid kidnaps Tristan, she finally has the chance to confront him. But Tristan, having once suffered from amnesia, still carries gaps in his memory and believes Diana wronged him. She, in turn, believes he abandoned her. As painful truths come to light, they begin to realize the love they once shared never truly faded.
But just as their hearts start to heal, a new danger arises: they find themselves suspected of murder. Can they uncover the truth in time to clear their names—or will their second chance at love slip away once more?
This is a sweet, clean Regency filled with emotional depth, redemption, and a dash of intrigue. Fans of second-chance romances with mystery elements will find much to enjoy here. Marie Higgins delivers a heartwarming story, and I look forward to reading more from her.

Amnesia....
Three years ago, Diana was left heartbroken by Tristan. She ended up having to wed Hollingsworth. a horrible marriage ensued and he died of murder. With Diana being a suspect. On a stormy night, she escapes the prison that is her married home.
Tristan lost his memory three years ago when Hollingsworth pushed him over a cliff. He knows Diana caused him pain and blames her. Clearly, these two hate each other and blame each other as they don't communicate and simmer in anger and resentment for three miserable years. Thankfully, Diana's faithful servant kidnaps Tristan on the night before his wedding to the odious Lady Jane. He's so drunk, he gets in the wrong carriage/ Everyone will think he ran away from his intended horrible bride.
In flashbacks, you find out what happened three years ago that leads to where they are now. Both accused of her husbands murder and Tristan kidnapped. Can you guess who killed the villain Hollingsworth?
At first, I was like, this isn't for me. Then we get into both Diana and Tristan's heads and find out what happened in the past and I was like, okay, This is indeed for me.
Recommend.

I absolutely loved this story. Murder/mystery/romance/secrets and more. Book 8 in this series is just as magnanimous as the seven before it. Diana and Tristan have a second chance for a future if they can get past all the hurdles, deceit and interfering people in their way. Their path is not easy but oh so very worthwhile. From a creative expert, you won't want to miss out on this one.

This historical romance is also a murder/mystery. Someone is murdering men who beat women. Unfortunately for our heroine both of the men are connected to her. That makes her and people close to her the main suspects.
Needless to say this gives us a very interesting and action packed story with fascinating characters. I certainly didn't guess who the villain was. The history between our hero and heroine make it even more entertaining.
Great fun.

Thank you NetGalley. Diana is sitting on a bench at a house party when she sees Tristan Worthington for the first time. They seem to fall in love at first sight. Her father calls her home to marry someone else. A man who for three years she suffered his terrible treatment and the lies he had told her. Then he is killed. She and Tristan must work out the lies they have each been told. Can things ever come together for them to take up the life they want?

This book had me hooked from the very first chapter, I actually ended up reading it in just over twenty-four hours. The characters drew me in immediately, especially Diana. There was something so compelling about the way she was written that I instantly found myself caring about her journey.
Marie Higgins is a talented writer who masterfully weaves together many of my favorite romance tropes. I’ll admit, I’m usually hesitant about amnesia storylines, they tend to stress me out with all the looming reveals, but in this case I felt it was handled nicely. The second chance romance, one of my absolute favourite tropes, was deeply satisfying and sweet.
Although I typically enjoy a bit of spice in my romance reads, I didn't feel like I was missing anything here. This is a clean romance, and the lack of explicit scenes didn’t detract from the romantic tension at all. If you prefer stories where love scenes fade to black, you’ll likely really appreciate this one.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Marrie Higgins knows what she is doing. she knows her books. she knows her characters. and better still she knows her audience. and once again we have a great addition the series and her books. these books are brilliant. and i dont know how Marie does it each and every time. i mean how do you live with this much imagination in your head!
another book where the characters pick you up and envelope you into their world. and yet at the same time we can relate still to many of the things going on between them(i say relate but i dont quite think we go through the same things!) i mean in feelings, family, love and troubles to do with all those things. and also how healing the heart can be hard. but connections can be just the things we need whether we want it or not.
this had all the tropes but once again pulled off to the highest level by this author. they dont feel tick boxed or pushed down on us in any way. just the natural thread of where the book and characters go to.
