A friend raved about this book so I decided to give it a try. I couldn't get past the beginning. It felt info-dumpy and I got bored very quickly. The main character didn't jive well with me, I couldn't connect to her. I really wanted to like this one, but just didn't.

I stopped reading this at about 25% because I just didn’t care enough to continue. The concept is super interesting, and I’m sure this is a great book for other readers, but I didn’t connect well with the story.

Three and a half stars for this one. It had potential, but I feel like it fell short of what it could have been.
I loved the concept. A future where no books exist? How scary and intriguing! I was excited to see where this was going.
Unfortunately, the bookwasn´t as exciting as I thought it would be and as the story progressed it felt kinda flat.

The book had potential, but fell incredibly flat for me. There was a reaaaally quick romance that, to me, felt like it came out of nowhere. There was a lot of inconsistency, both with characters and the pacing--and both really made it hard for me to finish the book. There were other things too, but I can't bring myself to get into it because I feel like it might be too extensive. Overall, the bad outweigh the good by a lot.

I tried reading it a few times but haven't gotten further than 40%, just can't get into it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Upturn Publishing for giving me this book to review.

Blood, Ink & Fire is a dystopia novel with a really interesting concept. However, I really struggled with this book for three main reasons; it lacks world building, it pacing as really slow, and uninteresting characters.

Noelle feels like she is different and that she does not fit in anywhere apart from with her best friend John, however, I didn’t care about her or what was happening to her. All of the other characters lacked depth and was not described well, for example I did not realise that John was blind until quite a while after meeting him.

Really interesting story idea but I felt it failed to deliver and I DNF at 25%.
