I just reread this book and enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time. I enjoy reading Lisa Wingate's stories and she is one of the few authors I will reread. Well written story with family drama ,lots of twists and interesting characters .I always look forward to a new book by Lisa.
I received a Arc from the publishers and NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Wow, I absolutely loved this book. Once I started it I just could not put it down. It is a wonderful story of one woman’s journey of discovering herself, her heritage, and finding happiness. It had the perfect amount of intrigue, twists, and love. It selves into the past in the most interesting way and has be so curious as to the basis of this story. I am now going to look for any historical books related to this period of history, it is just fascinating. I am also looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I started on this one not knowing that there were others. I have a feeling I am going to love them all and cannot wait to add all of Lisa Wingate’s books to my collection.

You will fall in love with Whitney and her journey from Michigan to North Carolina. She discovers more than you expect and wraps you into the world of several more characters both from her time and from the 1930s. You will not be disappointed with this story.

I highly recommend this book. It will hook you from the first chapter and take you on many unexpected turns.

Past and present once more tangle in the beautiful story of ties and bonds, trust, opening up and doing the right thing by very talented authoress Lisa Wingate.
This is one of the most beautifully written books in the Christian fiction I have read in years.

This is the third book in the Carolina Heirlooms series, but can be read as a standalone novel.

Restaurant owner Whitney Monroe has her plate more than full - she is still emotionally worn out because of her beloved mother's passing a couple of years ago and she is threatened to lose the thing she had been working very hard to for - her restaurant - to the foul play of one greed man. It is not just question of her hard work, though - there is her business partner and cousin Denise and the employees who need their payments. And then she is contacted with the news about recent health problems of her hostile stepfather Clyde. Clyde lives in the old hotel building, the heritage from Whitney mother's side, with the lifelong residency rights. But maybe there might be some heritage, historical items found to be sold, which might save her employees and livelihood?
But Whitney finds much more than she ever thought in the old Excelsior hotel building. The lost story from the past and the present reasons to trust. And the very reason to open up her heart.

This novel is pure beauty. The story itself might be not new - I mean the estranged family, the Mr Darcy kind of guy, the lost heritage and the message of trusting (again) have been all (and well) used in the world of literature. But the way of how the authoress took the characters and the plot parts and how she patch them up together - this is unique way of how to touch you and to influence you, without ever being preachy or overwhelming. This authoress has both the way with words and the deep understanding of human nature. And by "deep" I mean both realistic to the proverbial bone and been-there-done-that tone, as someone who has seen the depths of mistakes and the freedom of forgiveness and opening up.
It has certainly touched my heart.

Highly recommended read.

I enjoyed this book. The story was interesting and the subject was something I didn’t really know anything about, which I always enjoy. I did feel like there was a little too much going on, plot-wise, and it could have been tightened up a little bit, but overall this was a fun and fairly easy read.

Thanks to NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book.

As usual, I really enjoyed this book by Lisa Wingate. She told a captivating story with both current and historical storylines. I really liked the main character, Whitney, and enjoyed her journey that led to some understanding of the past. The book was interesting throughout, and I thought the book had a wonderful backdrop and settings.

Award-winning author Lisa Wingate returns with the third installment in the Carolina series. The second book, The Story Keeper, was reviewed in Christian Library Journal (January/February 2016).

In The Sea Keeper’s Daughter, restaurant owner Whitney Monroe tries to save her Michigan restaurant from the “good old boys” trying to drive her out of town by blocking her renovations. At the same time, she is trying to deal with an aging hotel on North Carolina’s Outer Banks she inherited, as well as dealing with the welfare of her estranged stepfather.

Whitney still resents her stepfather Clyde’s marriage to her now-deceased mother. Sharing the hotel with him and hoping to find some sources of cash as she sorts through family heirlooms, Whitney uncovers an old necklace, a Depression-era love story, and a mystery that will change everything.

The Sea Keeper’s Daughter is the 2016 Christy Award Winner (contemporary) - it is filled with memorable characters and descriptive settings in North Carolina (Blue Ridge Mountains and the Outer Banks). Wingate continues her trademark of telling two stories at the same time -- one from the past, one from the present -- tied together by the main character.

Wingate blends two stories masterfully: a dark family history filled with drama and plot twists, the first revealed in old letters Whitney finds. She discovers a tie between her grandmother and Roosevelt’s WPA folklore writers. The second story features Whitney’s restaurant troubles and what she plans to do with the hotel she inherited.
