This is some at of a tour de force. The research and the depth of the sources that are referenced and used is truly impressive. The different blessings, common, said, heard, and of all levels are looked at in detail and each word is weighed out and looked at from all directions. The links to blessing int the sacraments is also looked at and is helpful for those looking for a homily or sermon that really looks a what is being said and committed to. A useful text when looking into what is behind each blessing and what is really being said and where the authority comes from.

This book would be wonderful for anyone who is learning about the Bible in a College class or a seminary class. It is not for the lay person - at least not this lay person. I loved the title and was looking forward to reading it but was hoping for more of an easy read. The Title is wonderful, and I love that scripture verse and am glad the book was written.
