This beautifully illustrated collection of short stories takes young readers on a tour around the world and through history with the common link of dragons.

Thank you Publisher Spotlight for this arc.
This is a nice compilation of stories involving dragons/serpents from various countries of the world. In some stories the dragon/serpent is good and in others it's the villain. The stories are fairly easy to understand - maybe with a bit of help looking up unfamiliar words. The heroes are fairly equally divided between genders. The art is nice but I wanted more of it and especially more dragons in the art given that the stories are about dragons. B-

The premise of this book is really great. I enjoyed the stories that were told and the lessons that they represented. I do wish that there were more pictures since this is marketed as a children's book. Also the images that were in the book weren't of things I expected them to be of. For a book about dragons I'd expect more dragon images.
On a side note, I'm not sure if the file I received was formatted correctly or if it downloaded wrong. There were sections within stories that were confusing and didn't flow.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an earc of this title for my honest review.

The Illustrated Treasury of Dragon Tales: Stories from Around the World definite lives up to its name, as children will absolutely treasure these folktales. Theresa Breslin includes tales in which the dragon is the hero, the dragon is the villain and several in between; the stories spring from Russia, China, India, Mesoamerica, Japan, Scandinavia, Ancient Egypt and more! My favorite by far was “The Dragon of Kinnoull Meets St. Serf,” set in Perthshire, Scotland, in which Broca, a greatly underestimated, clever woodcutter’s daughter, saves the day. The stories are so beautiful that it is hard to decide which is more lovely: the prose or Kate Leiper’s jewel-toned illustrations. Luckily, readers don’t have to decide. Five fire-breathing stars!
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley, Publisher Spotlight and Floris books in exchange for an honest review.

I love the premise for this book. I wish that throughout the book there were more pictures to illustrate the information that is being shared. Also for a book about dragons I feel like it was lacking dragon illustrations. The stories and the writing was fine but I think to hold the interest of a younger audience you need more illustrations.

Delight! Delight! Delight! What beautiful illustrations, what inspiring tales, what diversity of location, setting, and author! Perfect for gift or bedtime story sharing or just to read on one's own, this Anthology is the right choice for Dragon aficionados everywhere!

A great book combining imagination and cultures around the world. The illustrations are magical all on their own and pull in all ages of readers. The short stories are great for younger readers to digest one at a time, or older readers to treat as a chapter book.
