Carly and Adam wake up every day on April 22, reliving the worst moments of their lives: a funeral and a breakup. But when they team up to break the cosmic curse, sparks fly faster than you can say “Groundhog Day meets enemies-to-lovers.”

With witty banter, fresh apple pie, and a dash of scientific mystery, this story is perfect for fans of romance with a twist of time travel. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and just the right amount of weird. You’ll root for Carly and Adam even as they bicker their way through eternity. Pre-order it—you’ll want to be stuck in this loop forever.

Thank you to NetGalley and Canary Street Press for this ARC!

3.5!! This book had an interesting and intriguing premise! I should say definitely magical realism. It can be overwhelming for some that the characters relive the same day repeatedly (referencing death and infidelity). I think at times it can also be a bit confusing with the story progression. However this book read like a fun movie and didn't shy away from making the characters go through growth and adapting vs ignoring their flaws and short comings. I appreciated that there was still depth in a book that had a magical realism premise.

I will read anything Erin La Rosa writes. I never enjoy the groundhog-day style stories but this was amazing! I adored the twist of everyone remembering what happenes. So clever and funny, I had the best time. She writes chemistry and tension perfectly and well timed.

This is a Groundhog Day time loop novel with an interesting romance twist. It was a decent enough twist and I enjoyed the romance aspect but I didn't find any connections to either main character.

Excellent book. I’m obsessed with the cover.

Writing style is beautiful.

This book will rip me in half and has some triggers I gotta avoid so I am picking it back up when I’m ready for it.

I love it when the book is as wonderful as the cover looks. I highly recommend this one to romance lovers who are ok with being ripped in half.

What a fun twist on Groundhogs day! It’s a fascinating look into how an entire community might handle being stuck. Who continues on as normal, who goes all out, who gets lost emotionally. I thought it was a marvelous think piece on having time to process tough feelings while sprinkling in a new romance. While an astronomer or not, I appreciated the space aspects as I related to Carly and Adam and their desire to gain an understanding of what’s going on to take the reins on their life instead of letting life just happen.

Thanks to Erin La Rosa, Harlequin, and Netgalley for the ARC -

Let me just start off with I AM FOR ERIN LA ROSA. Even when I am unsure of the premise, I always think if anyone can get me to have fun with it, it is Erin La Rosa. I'll try to stop saying her whole ass name now (but I like it). I will say she did just that with this book because I am not really a fan of time loops.

In this story we have two characters who have a poor first impression of each other, but carry on with their days unchanged because they have bigger problems to deal with...until they reset shortly thereafter..on the same day. Queue them both living what could be considered the worst days of their lives on a loop. That's all the synopsis ill give ya.

I think what I liked most about this book were the faults depicted in our characters and their willingness to see beyond the first impressions they made upon one another (eventually). I found their weirdness and differences so well-matched that I was rooting for romance long before they actually got into that space.

Another thing that I enjoyed that I wasn't sure was intentional was how, once they started working together, they felt as though they existed in their own bubble within the timeloop. Here we have this town with time loop awareness fully losing their minds (in most cases), but these two carry on trying to figure out what has happened even thoughneither really has the experience to do so (Adam's love of astronomy aside). While there are a few other key characters who play into this, I liked that it felt like their world to conquer - or rather conquer time loop, sciency, space stuff together.

I'll say that I dont think this book will be for everyone, but I had a blast.

*this is open door romance.

Also, shouts to ELR for the adhd rep. I see you and I love it.

pages: 336

peppers: 3 (on this scale)

warnings: death of parents, unfaithful wife

The day gets worse from there...and then she gets stuck on that same day, as does the entire town, for almost a year. dead parents
Groundhog's Day experience
failed life plans

what I liked:

clever idea
skipped over the early days of the time loop to avoid clichéd scenes of wondering what's going on

This was a quirky book, and I knew that going in, which is what drew me to it. But now that I’ve finished it, I’m not entirely sure how I feel.

The story follows Carly, who travels from LA to the small town of Julian, California, for her dad’s funeral. She’s carrying a lot of guilt after their last phone call ended on a sour note. Then, after a solar eclipse, the day resets—and she’s right back at the funeral again. Only, it’s not a full “Groundhog Day” loop: while the day restarts, the consequences of what happened the previous day stick around.

There’s also Adam, the funeral director, who’s dealing with his own messy personal drama (his wife cheated on him with his best friend. On day number 238 Carly starts trying to break the loop by doing good deeds. At one point, she fakes a kiss with Adam in front of his ex and best friend, and suddenly the eclipse is 10 seconds shorter. She starts to think their growing romantic connection might be the key to ending the loop, while Adam takes a more scientific approach.

The premise was fun and definitely unique, but I didn’t really connect with either of the main characters, and the story didn’t quite hit as emotionally or humorously as I hoped. The concept had a lot of potential, but something about the execution just didn’t fully land for me.

good romance with a groundhog day resetting on this one day in this small town. she finds love and he finds love too and while getting over what happened to him. loved that they tried to solve it by science and being together.

Carly is in Julian, California, for her dad’s funeral. He moved there a year ago to open a movie theater and she refused to visit, hurt that he left her behind in Burbank. At his funeral, she’s rubbed the wrong way by Adam, the funeral director, who seems a little off. And rude.

But when a solar eclipse leaves all of Julian stuck in a time loop, it’ll take Carly and Adam working together to find their way through.

Groundhog day but everybody in the town of Julian is aware that they are re-living the same day over and over again. For Adam and Carly, this day is the worst day of their lives: Carly re-lives her father's funeral, and Adam re-lives the moment that his marriage ends when his wife reveals that she has been cheating on him with his best friend. Carly and Adam eventually agree to work together to try to get out of the time loop.

Trope:
hate to love relationship

From all the time loop books that I have read, this one had a lot more scientific reasoning into it, which I thought was interesting and confusing at the same time. I had a harder time getting into the book because I felt a lot of aspects were repetitive, despite the fact that they were living in a time loop. When they were testing theories and experimenting with why the time loop was happening, I just couldn't really get into it (maybe it's just not my genre to read).
I also didn't really get the initial "enemies" situation between Carly and Adam, when Carly would judge Adam for being mean to his ex-wife, who cheated on him. I felt that Carly was being unfair to Adam when he was the one who got cheated on - yeah I would be pissy and petty too if I had to re-live that conversation again and again for hundreds of days. When they get over their first impressions of each other and get closer, their relationship becomes a lot better, but I just didn't feel the chemistry/tension between the couple.

The part that I liked about the book was the characters' respective relationships with their parents and how that was resolved over the book. Adam has his own issues with his parents (and himself) that were never really addressed due to avoidance. Carly had her own problems with her dad that were ultimately never resolved due to his untimely death. It was nice to see Carly help Adam with his relationship with his parents while also taking the time to make peace with herself and her dad (in spirit).

Every day is April 23rd in Julian- an endless time loop. Carly and Adam both want out. They work together to solve the mystery even though they hate each other. ... Along the way, they fall for each other.

Love the tension between the two main characters. Very compelling characters. An interesting read with some magical elements..

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

2.5 rounded up. It was a really interesting idea. I enjoyed the chemistry between Adam and Carly. But I found myself skimming the second half. I wasn’t that invested in what was going to happen and didn’t feel a strong connection to the characters.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest.
