Oh, what a joy this book was! The Road Trip takes us on a caravanning adventure with four travellers—a husband and wife, and a brother and sister—who set out on the open road with big dreams and very little experience. What follows is a mix of laughter, mishaps, and heartfelt moments that only life on the road can bring.
There are all the little dramas that caravanners love to share—reversing mishaps, GPS squabbles, overflowing toilets, and hoses left behind in the rush to move on. But beyond the humour and chaos, this story is about friendship, self-discovery, and finding love in the most unexpected places.
I adored how Tricia Stringer captured the spirit of travel—the camaraderie between holidaymakers, the magic of new connections, and the beauty of the Australian outback as a backdrop. The caravan parks, the out-of-the-way stops, the chance meetings with fellow travellers—it all felt so authentic and endearing, as though I was part of the trip myself.
Each character shines in their own way: a young woman finding her voice and confidence, a couple rediscovering what truly matters, and others stumbling into love and happiness along the journey. And I loved how Stringer wove in a gentle thread of suspense to keep the pages turning—it added just the right edge to an otherwise heartwarming tale.
The Road Trip is the perfect reminder that travel isn’t just about the destination—it’s about the people we meet, the stories we share, and the unexpected adventures along the way. Heartfelt, funny, and brimming with outback charm—this is a must-read for anyone who loves stories of love, life, and community on the road.

The road trip by Tricia Stringer. This story follows 4 people, a husband and wife, and a brother and sister, setting off on a caravaning adventure for the first time. Along the way they argue about reversing the van, reading the gps, who’s responsible for what jobs, and all the other little problems that you hear about from experienced caravanners, like toilets overflowing and hoses still connected as you drive off. Along the way they meet up with other holiday makers sharing stories and life adventures leading to friendships and love. There is an element of suspense throughout the story, which personally I would have liked developed a little more, but otherwise it was a very enjoyable read. Another great book by Tricia Stringer.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to provide an honest review. All opinions are my own.

A great story, a young woman finds her voice and regains herself. Meets another traveller they click and continue to travel together. A couple after lots of ups and downs caravanning realise some home truths and are closer, at the end of the trip. The other traveller finds happiness too.
Enjoyed the caravan journey with the characters, the writer painted a great picture of the characters, and the places they visited. Also gave great descriptions of the places they parked their caravans, and how all travellers, love to interact with each other. Especially loved how even though one is in a caravan park in the middle of nowhere, one does not have privacy. A must read, if you love the Aussie outback, and all its glory
