I trust my best friend Lydia with my life. We share everything, even the things we can’t tell our husbands. So when we go on a beach holiday together, it’s a dream come true. One night, we treat ourselves to dinner on the beach with our husbands while our children sleep soundly in the cottage behind us. But when I go to check on them, my entire world shatters. My son’s bed is empty, the window wide open, his favourite teddy left between the crumpled sheets. I stifle a scream as my worst nightmare comes true. My little boy is gone. It’s all my fault! Wow wow wow!! Some crazy dark hidden secrets!! Great read! The chilling suspense, mystery, murder, kidnapping, cheating, and some jaw dropping twists! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

A good solid domestic drama.
Some interesting characters and some decent twists.
I did get a little bored but a good read for the by the pool.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

A good premise.
I’d have loved to have seen more of Jo’s internal thoughts and feelings - it felt like we got ‘I shuddered’ several times a chapter but no real insight into how she was feeling beyond that. Quite repetitive, ‘they’ll find Ajit won’t they? Please.’
But some great twists and surprises

I gave this book a 3 star! Quite a decent book! Let me talk about the things I liked and didn't.

Didn't like - I thought it was quite a boring setting? Place? So it wasn't very enjoyable to read personally, as in the environment of the book. I also didn't like much the past and present time lines, I like them usually but I found the ones at the start with the flashbacks talking at the beach, and what not to be a bit slow paced/unentertaining.

Liked - I loved the characters in this one, you relate to them so much, build amazing relationships with them and appreciated their thoughts in depth, like I was put into her brain, I really enjoyed that factor. I also liked the writing. I usually don't like overly descriptive writing but this one was hard hitting, interesting, and manageable to read without feeling like a chore. (How I sometimes feel at least 😅)

Overall, lovely book, though I guessed a couple plot twists here and there and it wasn't very... Thrilling? As it's a thriller, not sure if I'm explaining well. I recommend this book though, it's a nice book 📖

This was a brilliant thriller that kept me turning the pages late into the night. I highly recommend this wild ride of a book!! A definite MUST READ!! It reminded me of the Madeleine McCann case whilst reading it.

I haven't read any other book that left me gasping for breath and with a pounding heart as much as this one did.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars!

Two perfect families go on the holiday of a life time - two perfect couples with the perfect marriages, but are they really? And when one of the couples child goes missing, cracks begin to form and secrets are revealed. Secrets that could tear families apart.

Right from the beginning it’s easy to see that all is not as perfect as it seems with the characters. The writing is intricate and detailed and you can clearly visualise the characters in your head. When the main protagonist child goes missing it is every parents worst nightmare, as a mum of a five year old boy I struggled at times with this as I have a son who is five and this would be my biggest nightmare.

The way D’Silva describes how the mum feels and all the events surrounding it, you are right there with her- imagining the pain and anguish she is going through. Because of all this- secrets start to get revealed and you become gripped by how flawed all the characters are. I found the first half of the book had more of a slow pace the second half was much easier to really get stuck into and it really picked up. There are many twists along the way so it compels you too keep going to find out what has happened. One criticism I have is occasionally I felt that we were just repeating bits and I just wanted to get on with the rest of the story but I think the authors way of building it all and keeping the suspense. The ending for me as well was a bit flat I wanted more and it wasn’t an entirely satisfying ending but then it could be because it gives a hint of a follow on.

I should say there are some trigger warnings - miscarriages, post natel depression and hints at child abuse.

Overall I would definitely read more from D’Silva - if you like a good domestic thriller than this is an excellent read.

This is my favorite kind of book. No mother wants to have their child go missing. It is any parent's worst nightmare. This book is full of secrets and lies and twists and turns. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
