This was my first experience with this series. Page-turning romantic suspense. Many exciting, nail-biting moments. A sweet second-chance romance. Many interesting characters. Had I read the prior books in the series it would have been a delight to revisit them. A delightfully quick read. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Attacked on the property she unexpectedly inherited, Rose Balfour barely escapes with the help of former hostage negotiator Henry Walsh. Rose is not sure why the local loan shark left her his home and now someone wants her dead. Henry is only in town getting his grandparents ranch fixed up for him to sell. Rose and Henry went to school together before he went into the military. Rose is supposed to testify in the loan sharks' trial and now her life is in danger. Henry and Rose are both attracted to each other, but she is planning to sell the house and move out of town and Henry is not staying here either.

Fantastic

Dangerous Montana Inheritance is a fantastic, fast-paced, page-turner of a story.

When Rose and Henry reconnect under some dangerous circumstances, they're not exactly overjoyed. Memories of the past, along with the baggage they each carry, make their initial reconnect somewhat rocky. However, as one dangerous and unexpected happening after another keeps them together, things change. This results in a story of mystery and intrigue with a dose of romance that kept me glued to the pages, as I tried to figure everything out while watching the effects on Rose and Henry's relationship.

The characters are strong, and the storyline is engaging and captivating. The twists, turns, and romance, along with the themes of trust, second chances, and faith, make this fantastic story an absolute must-read.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. All comments and opinions are entirely my own and voluntary.

Book Review: Dangerous Montana Inheritance by Jenna Night
Thank you to Harlequin Love Inspired Suspense and NetGalley for my gifted ARC.

Dangerous Montana Inheritance is a fast-paced and faith-filled romantic suspense that delivers danger, emotional depth, and just the right touch of small-town charm. Jenna Night crafts a story that’s equal parts thrilling and heartwarming, with characters you genuinely care about and a plot that keeps you flipping pages. Although it’s the fourth book in the Big Sky First Responders series, it reads well as a standalone, making it a great entry point for new readers while offering plenty for longtime fans.

Rose Balfour didn’t ask for an inheritance—especially not from a loan shark. But that’s exactly what she gets, and it comes with more baggage than she bargained for. Almost immediately upon arriving at the property, she’s attacked by someone trying to keep her from testifying in a murder trial. The threat is real and relentless, and Rose has no idea who she can trust—until Henry Walsh shows up. Henry, once the high school class clown, is now a former hostage negotiator with a serious sense of duty. He’s back in town to settle his own inheritance, but quickly finds himself pulled into Rose’s mess. Together, they form an unlikely partnership rooted in old memories, quiet faith, and growing trust.

What I appreciated most about this book is how grounded both main characters feel. Rose is not just a victim—she’s resourceful and resilient, even when fear threatens to take over. Her reliance on God feels natural and sincere, especially in moments when things spiral out of control. One line that stuck with me: “Lord, our lives are always in Your loving hands.” It’s simple, heartfelt, and becomes a theme that anchors the whole story. Faith isn’t an afterthought in this book—it’s part of the characters’ daily decisions and emotional growth.

Henry, meanwhile, is exactly the kind of romantic suspense hero you want—capable, steady, and self-aware. He doesn’t rush into Rose’s life with all the answers. He listens, observes, and protects without overpowering. His background in negotiation and security adds credibility to his actions, and the slow build of trust between him and Rose feels earned. Their romance is clean and subtle, developing out of shared trauma and emotional honesty rather than dramatic declarations.

The plot is tight and engaging, full of secrets, close calls, and red herrings. Every time you think Rose and Henry might have a moment to breathe, another threat creeps in. Whether it’s a home invasion, a chase through the woods, or a coded message hidden in a file cabinet, the suspense never fully lets up. And yet, the book doesn’t feel frantic. There are quiet moments too—times when Rose and Henry reflect, pray, or simply sit with their fears. These scenes add emotional depth and keep the story from becoming all action and no heart.

Montana itself adds to the atmosphere. The isolated setting—wide open land, rustic cabins, dusty roads—gives the story a rugged quality. It makes the danger feel more immediate and the stakes feel higher. There’s a certain vulnerability that comes from being far from help, and Night uses that isolation well.

If I had one critique, it would be that a few side characters felt underdeveloped. There are hints of past tensions and relationships that seem to carry weight, but they aren’t fully explored. Readers who’ve followed the series may pick up on more of those nuances, but as someone reading it as a standalone, I was left a little curious. It wasn’t a major issue, but it did make me wish for just a bit more background in some scenes.

Overall, Dangerous Montana Inheritance is a satisfying and heartfelt story that balances tension and tenderness beautifully. It reminds readers that even in chaos, faith can be an anchor—and that love, when built on trust and truth, is a powerful force. With well-crafted suspense, a clean romance, and meaningful spiritual themes, this book delivers exactly what fans of Christian romantic suspense are looking for.

This is the fourth book in the Big Sky First Responders series, but in my opinion, it works well as a standalone. I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series, yet I didn’t have any trouble following the plot or connecting with the main characters. The author does a good job of weaving in enough context to keep new readers grounded.

That said, I do feel like I may have missed out on some backstory when it comes to a few of the secondary characters. There were moments where their relationships or past experiences seemed to carry emotional weight that likely stems from earlier books. It made me curious about their journeys and, honestly, made me want to go back and read the previous book, I have a feeling those stories are just as good.

This story is full of mystery, suspense, drama, friendships, and more. It’s the kind of book that keeps you turning the pages, wondering what’s going to happen next, while also pulling at your heart with strong emotional moments and character bonds.

The characters were engaging, and the plot kept me interested. Fans of romantic suspense or small-town first responder stories will likely find a lot to love here, whether they’re long-time followers of the series or just jumping in for the first time.

I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

It was supposed to be a fresh start. But the moment Rose Balfour stepped onto the inherited property, everything changed. With danger rising and nowhere safe to run, Dangerous Montana Inheritance becomes a testimony of trust … the kind that grows when we finally fix our eyes on the One who holds it all.

Dangerous Montana Inheritance begins with an inheritance Rose Balfour never wanted — and almost didn’t survive. From the first pages, the story pulses with adrenaline, but what stayed with me wasn’t just the suspense… it was the thread of quiet, unshakeable faith that anchored every twist.

“Lord, our lives are always in Your loving hands…” Rose’s prayer is more than a moment. It becomes a turning point — a reminder that God isn’t absent in the chaos. He’s present. Pursuing. Protecting. And when Rose begins focusing on Him instead of her fears, the tension and danger doesn’t vanish… but peace begins to rise.

Henry Walsh, a former hostage negotiator with a past of his own, was a standout for me. He doesn’t demand Rose’s trust — he earns it. And through every ambush, every betrayal, every inch of uncertainty, he never stops pointing toward safety. Not just physical safety, but soul-deep security.

This story reminded me that the things we never asked for — the inheritances that feel like traps, the detours that feel too risky — might just be sacred ground. The kind of surrendered ground where God strips away what’s safe and reveals what’s true. Because sometimes the fight brings clarity. And sometimes the very things that shake us… are what God uses to shape us.

Faith doesn’t silence fear. It stands tall in the middle of it — because the hands holding us are stronger than whatever’s hunting us.

Can an inheritance be dangerous? The one a loan shark left Rose was - Gabe Kraft had left her a house in Cedar Ridge Montana that contained some office furniture and an old file cabinet.
Suddenly Rose hears a voice outside saying "She will not testify at the trial tomorrow, I will permanently silence her if I have to."
Rose prays for God to help her as she heads out the back door towarfd the chain link fence. As she gets near it she hears a shot and runs toward the trees when she sees shelving holding various objects in what looks like a plant nursery.
Rose yelled for help and ran faster trying to get away from the intruder, finally she spotted a row of tall ceramic pots and wedged herself behing one.

Henry Walsh, a childhood acquaintance of Roses' saw her running and followed her trail through the woods and the plant nursery, Henry was a former ranger and security contractor who knew how to help Rose. Henry spotted the shooter and peered down a row of large pots and saw Rose hiding from the shooter.
He found Rose, they ran away from the shooter but the shooter fought Henry, who then twisted the shooters ankle and the shooter fired a wild shot and got away!

But this was just the beginning of Roses' trouble, Rose and Henry go back to the house and the shooter grabs Rose as she is on the phone and points a gun at her head!

"Dangerous Montana Inheritance" is a Christian romantic suspense. It's the 4th in a series but works as a standalone. Henry had a crush on Rose back in high school, but he knew that his parent's criminal reputation would always color how people in the town saw him. He left to join the military and later work at a private security firm. Now he's back to get his inherited ranch in shape to sell. Rose left for college, but she quit to return and constantly bail her parents out of their bad decisions, like taking a loan from an unscrupulous lender. That man has since been murdered, and she's a witness at the trial. Two men try to kidnap her so she can't testify, apparently worried she knew more than she did.

We're repeatedly told that Henry had no plans to live in his home town due to his parent's reputation, and he didn't have a job elsewhere. Rose wanted to leave to finish college. They could both leave and be together elsewhere, but they made it sound like the only real option was to live locally so Rose could continue to 'help' her parents. I was disappointed that, in the end, she still felt responsible to spend her resources on making her parents happy. Rose couldn't defend herself from attack, so she was grateful for Henry's free protection and that he always came to rescue her. Both Henry and Rose decided that they'd misjudged each other and that they were a good match.

The story had some realism issues. For example, multiple professionals had guns but they always tucked them into their waistband, like they'd never heard of a gun holster. And the professional hitmen never made any effort to hide their identities, which was the only reason that law enforcement finally figured out who they were. The police didn't look for fingerprints or other clues. Hopefully some of this will be fixed in the final version as I read an advanced reader's copy.

The main characters prayed for help. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable story.

Just finished this! It was a fantastic read! Wow! Action on every page turned. I loved every minute of it.
A new to me author that I very much enjoyed. I loved the characters Rose and Henry. I thought they made a cute couple the minute I met them. They do have a few things in common.
The inheritance part is what had me turning the pages. Lots of guessing and sleuthing. You'll be surprised at who it actually is! Wow!
I really like that Rose asked the Lord God to help her and Henry through the mess they found themselves in.
Why did the loan shark leave Rose his house? Well y'all will just have to pick this book up and read it for yourselves.
5 stars for a job well done and for making me feel like I was was a part of this story.
I highly recommend
