This was such an atmospheric, fun & cute, darling book that gives the vibe of Holly Jackson but make it sapphic

I have not read the other books of this series so I felt like i was missing some past context. I was hoping for more of a mystery it felt like the book didn't focus too much on the murder and more on the romance. It also felt like all the information was giving at the end instead of a build up. On the other note I felt like the relationship between Jazz and Cappy was alright but again felt no build up and was instant attraction and then one minute saying they wont date then going right into it. I also felt like Jazz added nothing to the investigation so it felt kinda of pointless for her to be part of it and I didn't really understand her connection with the murder victim there was no real relationship between them for her to care so much. The plot just felt a little generic.

I love this series and this is an excellent addition to it. This book follows Cappy, Clair's partner from the first book. A fellow campus police officer who has come back from bereavement to find a lot has changed in her absence. Her partner is studying to be a lieutenant, Sargent Kent is looking to move up and has found love, and her grandmother has moved in with her. To add to it, the head Librarian Jasmin, who happens to be best friends to Clair and Kent's lovers, believes a recent suicide was actually murder. As the two work together to solve what happens, their determination to not fall in love is put to the test.

I really enjoy this series. I liked the first two books and this was a wonderful addition. I particularly like how the story unfolds with the case. Without spoiling anything, I liked how it kept you guessing and wondering where it will go, as well as how hard it is to truly know someone. I the mystery was fun to follow along and the romance was cute, especially with Tig and Libby coming back and their connection to the police.

I highly recommend reading this if you are fans of mystery with romance and if you enjoyed the first 2 books. It is not strictly needed to read the other books, but it gives a lot more context to the relationships.

Third in this series of campus novels featuring a groups of sapphic friends, some of whom are the campus police. This novel focuses on Cappy just back from her gramps funeral and Jazz the Viking librarian with an axe on her office wall. Jazz is a wonderful character and it is great to see her have her turn to be featured in these books, she is funny, clever, caring and the banter between her and Cappy is great fun. Cappy is quieter, unfazed and intrigued by the Viking who insists the star player's death was absolutely not a suicide. An enjoyable crime story with great friendship between all the characters.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pretty good murder mystery, with a bit of romance thrown in. The college setting was a great backdrop for this story. The main characters were well written , and had great chemistry. I felt that this book was more of a murder mystery than a romance, there's quite a bit of sleuthing going on. I like that the author brought in characters from previous books, it was fun catching up with how their doing. Also this felt like a very slow burn getting to know you kind of romance between the main characters. This was an enjoyable book to read, and one I would recommend.

This is the third in the University Police Series from Karis Walsh. I’ve read and enjoyed the previous two books. You could read this book on its own, as there is catching up on who is with whom, but I’d recommend reading from the beginning of the series. And even thought there is a death, these books are surprisingly fun.

A student who was once destined for pro football league is found dead in his room and it looks like suicide. But library director Jasmine (Jazz) Harold who had befriended him doesn’t believe it. She asks her friend, the police sergeant if someone can investigate. Cappy Flannery, a University police officer, gets assigned to it while waiting for Seattle police findings. Jazz asks to tag along with Cappy on some of her investigative interviews. Cappy and Jazz are delightful as they banter and get to know each other better. Jazz’s friend group is intermigled with the university police now because of the romances from the previous books. And these are the kind of people you want to be friends with. Supportive, teasing, and welcoming.

There are only a couple of possible suspects so the mystery isn’t ovally complex. It is more following along as they investigate. Cappy was a standout character whom I mentioned by name in my review of the first book, so I was happy to see her get her gal. And Jazz is fantastic as the strong librarian. Karis novels stay in the PG range for intimacy but the kissing is hot. I hope this series isn’t finished.

Thank you NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books, Inc. for allowing me to read this book early.

This is the third instalment of the University Police Series but can be read as a standalone. However those who have not read the other books in the series may feel they are missing something due to characters and relationships appearing from previous books.

Jazz is an University Librarian who believes that the police report for a former college footballer's suicide is wrong and enlists the help of office Cappy to investigate his death.

This story did start slow at the beginning and it did take time for me to really get into the story but eventually the story found its rhythm and I ended up enjoying it. I love a cozy mystery story and the romance between Cappy and Jazz was entertaining as well.

This can be read as a standalone novel, but I do feel like I missed something with not reading the previous books even with the summary at the beginning which honestly was a lot and unnecessary as this can be read by itself.

This book follows the police detective, Cappy and Jazz who is a librarian. This is a slow burn, suspenseful, mystery book that had its ups and downs. Some of it was unbelievable and others it was just hard to get into it. It had some twists and turns, but I couldn't relate to the characters or really even the story. It was a struggle to finish. Maybe others enjoyed it, but I didn't.

I believe this is the third installment of the ‘ University Police Series’ and the best part of a series like this is the reader gets to meet up with the cast of characters from Ms Walsh’s first two books.
The first book introduced us to a group of professors, four to be exact and in each book we get to read about romance and crime.. The University Campus Police are the ones these professor’s turn to when there is unfortunately a murder on campus.
This time it’s Professor Jazz Harald that seeks the help of the police when one of the students she knows has decided to end his own life. Jazz doesn’t believe the police reports so she reaches out to the campus police, Officer Cappy Flannery. Cappy has read the report herself, even visited the apartment where the young student lived. She agrees with the report but she also reluctantly agrees with Jazz the case should be investigated.
If you have read the first two books then you’re in for a treat, if you hadn’t read the first two books you might find yourself lost because Walsh brings in everyone or so it seems from the two stories. It might be a good idea to read the first two. Very enjoyable read.

This is the third book in the series. In this installment, Cappy investigates the suicide of the star football player. Jazz, the librarian and a member of Libby's friend group, does not believe it was a suicide and is assisting Cappy with the investigation. I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first two; the pace was slow at the beginning, but it improved towards the end. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the series in order. Overall, I would still recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC 💕

This is a mystery/romance following Cappy (a police officer at the university) and Jazz (the librarian) investigating the death of a former athlete student, who is assumed to have taken his own life.

I liked the characters, with Jazz being my personal favourite with her optimistic and inquisitive mindset. I was also pleasantly surprised that this was sapphic?!? However, I feel the romance was unnecessary and the plot could have benefited from following Jazz’s perspective as opposed to being third person switching between both our main characters. I feel like their romance came out of nowhere and seeing one of them slowly realising there’s an attraction would have helped that element of the plot. I also think seeing Jazz doing research on her own would have been cool.

Part of Karis Walsh's University Police series. The university librarian doesn't believe a student committed suicide so asks for it to be investigated. When they look into it things don't seem quite above board. An intriguing story.

It is Cappy and Jazz's turn.

A UW former running back (he got hurt, career ending) has been found dead. It may be suicide, but, after his accident he also spent time in Jazz's library, and, she seems to think that there is no waay it could be suicide. So, Kent puts Cappy on the case, and, of course (since this is sorta how this University Police series goes), Jazz gets to help. It goes back and forth between was it murder or was it suicide, and, I have to say, it really really was balance. In a lot of these types of mysteries, it's right away that the 'is it murder' person is correct, and proven correct. Instead, there's this really awesome look at this guy's life, and, Jazz starts to realize that she really only saw a part of his life, and, she realizes that maybe she was incorrect. It twisted, it turned, I really really liked it.

And, I hope that the next (??) book in this series is just as great.

It’s great to comeback to this series this time around Jasmine aka Jazz is a librarian who believes that a football player death is not a suicide she suspect there more to his death. Cappy is police officer who is dealing with personal lost when she assigned to investigate a apparent suicide at first it’s seems like a close case but since she doesn’t have a choice she investigates with the help of Jazz as they both learn there is more to his death first look as there are some twist and turns. Great mystery love seeing the previous characters the romance was just right.

Cappy Flannery’s first case upon returning from leave was a suicide of student, an injured footballer, who was found dead. However, Jazz Harald, the librarian, does not think it was suicide. Jazz believes it to be murder and she works with Cappy to find out the truth.

This is the third book of the University police series so we had characters from, the first 2 books in this one as well. I love the mystery part of the book. It was nice to keep guessing if it was truly a suicide or a homicide case. The romance was just a small part of it. I didn’t feel it as much but the 2 main characters are likeable people. I also like the group of friends. It was an interesting read overall especially if you are someone who likes crime and mystery.

This is sort of a slow burn, low angst murder mystery and the third in the series. I enjoyed the appearance of cahracters from the previous book. I found this book quite enjoyable and recommend.

Quite a busy start as previous novel plots that involve some of the characters are summarised. All feels a bit breathless and unnecessary…… not because I’ve read those novels (I have) but rather I’m not sure what those details really have to do with this book. It’s a wee bit too much name checking and background checking this early in the novel. Having said all that, I did like the way one mains knowledge of the corpse was explained.
Once the case got going I enjoyed it and no longer felt I was getting brought up to date by someone talking at 20 miles an hour.
Well, 30% in and nothing is going at 20 miles an hour, not sure if the case or romance are going at 20 miles a day! I am going to leave this for a couple of days and come back in case it is me but currently there is no strong compulsion to read on.
I came back to it, and am going to plough on to see if the case reignites. For me, 40% in, there is still too much background from other books. The friendship group banter just misses the mark for me quite a lot of the time. Funnily enough, I thought the book title was a bit odd, and didn’t quite go with the cover…. That just slightly not working is certainly remaining with me through this.
I realise this is a work of fiction but I like a bit of real world….. I mean who has to have explained why you would need to carry an emergency book??
I found the whole “I can’t be in a relationship because I’m a cop” a bit difficult to get behind, especially as the other couples we keep hearing about contain at least one cop per perfect partnership. However the writer handled that really well a couple of scenes later, in a conversation between the mains. Well done. In fact that scene has me upping my rating to a 3 as it had slipped a bit.

This book is set in the same universe as some of the author’s previous novels but can definitely be read and enjoyed as a stand alone novel. We follow Cappy, a police detective and Jazz, a college librarian (love seeing a librarian main character who both follows and breaks stereotypes) in a somewhat slow burn, murder mystery with all the drama and spirals you’d expect to find on a college campus. This was an easy read, with a well developed setting and characters. Hoping for more on this series!

It’s great to be back with the University police and this book has Cappy dealing with Jazz, the campus Librarian who believes a dead student did not kill himself. Cappy knows that a hugely successful footballer with a guaranteed NFL career could indeed be suicidal if an injury snatches that career away. But because Jazz is friends with other academics who have partners who are cops ~ including Clare, her police partner ~ Cappy is given some freedom to investigate.

As Cappy starts to think there might be more to the case than first thought, Jazz is doubting her own feelings. The interviews they do are amusing, or disastrous but Cappy won’t give up till she knows she has properly investigated.

The ancillary characters in each story are well developed. There are enough suspects and red herrings to draw you through the plot and the romance feels ‘true’. I’m already looking forward to more from this universe. Ms Walsh is a very good writer.

Sadly, I’m going to DNF this book at 27%. The main reason is that I just couldn’t connect with the main characters. I also found a few things in the story a bit unbelievable, which normally wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me. But paired with not being able to get attached to the characters, it ended up being the last straw.
