Lenore Greiner had a fascinating and unpredictable life. She survived many ups and downs, and her rape was one of the most serious. She grapples with her feelings about it throughout the book, as she keeps it hidden and tries to forget.

Greiner is skilled at writing descriptions, giving readers excellent depictions of California and Italy. However, a lot was packed into this book, and I found it to be too long in parts, almost reading like journal entries.

I received a copy for review. All opinions are my own. This was a very well written memoir. It was fascinating to follow how Lenore endured throughout her life with the traumas of her past, I felt like I was right there with her at every life event. The physical descriptions of her views of the scenery during her travels were also beautifully detailed to put you right there with her.
