Robin Gow is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Saber-Tooth spoke to the angry inner child in me who couldn't always express her feelings. Jasper struggles with this and the anger he experiences comes out in the form of a very real prehistoric cat. Once anger is unleashed there is no taking it back or reigning it in. Anger is wild. Learning to control and channel it is hard. Jasper learns this throughout this novel told in verse. This was emotional and bittersweet and gave my inner child a hug. I also loved dinos and ice age era creatures so I also felt so seen in a character who loves this too.

"Saber-Tooth" is a middle grade novel in verse by Robin Gow. Jasper gets very angry that his older brother Callan hasn't made time to go fossil hunting this summer, so he ruins his brother's laptop right before Callan goes to college. After Callan leaves, Jasper starts digging in his backyard and starts hearing the voice of a saber-toothed tiger fossil talking to him. Is this really happening or is it just Jasper's anger? This book was an interesting and quick read with an occasionally confusing plot. A recommended purchase where novels in verse are popular.
