There have been so many times that I have received a beautiful or sentimental bouquet, or grown a really exquisite flower and wanted to preserve it. As a flower lover I was eager to get into this book and I loved the author’s take on using dried and preserved florals in lieu of fresh as a more sustainable and long lasting alternative.
Her florals are bright, very textural and fun and many of the photos show the progression of the bouquet from start to finish. She describes some of the different preservation methods from drying, to pressing to glycerin. I wish there had been a bit more detail to this section with included photos as the resource section for obtaining dried florals included just her own website that does not have all the varieties pictured and is at a moderate to high price point for the materials.
The book has floral recipes from items to decorate the home, for holidays, events, weddings and includes bouquets, vase arrangements, wreaths and large archways.
I thought the items were explained pretty well but for a beginner could’ve used more detail to have a really successful result.

Wow I wish I had this book before I got married so I could have properly saved my bouquet!
The images in this book are absolutely stunning. The book is broken into an intro & techniques section, followed by the chapters - Living, Entertaining, Ceremonies, & Holidays.
Perfect for anyone who enjoys flowers!
Thank you to NetGalley & Chronicle Books for the ARC!

This is an interesting concept as I’ve never done much flower drying. It was basic enough on the front end to understand the techniques of the craft at a beginning level. However the floral arrangements and ideas make it interesting for someone who knows it. I think it looks great and the pictures are stunning. Just not sure anything I tried would ever compare.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of "Flora Nouveaux: Not Your Grandma's Dried Flowers" by Carla Wingett. All opinions are my own.

Gorgeous!
I am so looking forward to creating beautiful dried flower arrangements.
This book brings dried flowers back to life!

Ooooh, this really appeals to the crafty deviant in me. Back in college, crafting was basically my whole life—washi tape on my keyboard, glitter on EVERYTHING. The world was my crafting oyster, and I was its pearl.
Now, older and (somewhat) more mature, I’m still searching for ways to weave creativity into my daily life. This book? It feels like one craft project my husband might actually approve of!
Dried flowers aren’t just beautiful—they carry deep sentimental value. For my wedding, my sister-in-law surprised me by preserving my bouquet through drying. When my mother passed later that year, she preserved flowers from the funeral arrangements, pressing them between glass and gifting keepsakes to me and my siblings. Those delicate mementos mean the world to me, far beyond their aesthetic.
I can absolutely see myself gifting this book to friends and loved ones—and better yet, using it as the perfect excuse to invite them over for a crafting session. Whether for group gatherings or solo creative time, this book’s step-by-step process, broken down in simple, clear terms, makes floral arranging accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels.
Thank you to NetGalley, Chronicle Books, and Carla Wingett for the privilege of receiving this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
