I absolutely loved this book! I am divorced and the thought of having an ex husband that is this much of an idiot - mine was pretty bad- makes me thank my lucky stars! However this ex became the reason multiple people in this book put their differences aside and became a unit. Ready to conquer whatever came at them.

Very fun, sweet romance that focuses more on friendship and family than romantic relationships (although there still are multiple romances to root for). We get two points of view from Audrey and Ian, former best friends, who, while studying abroad in Vienna together, both fell in love with the same man, Beau. Audrey married him and they had two children, and then Beau left Audrey for Ian. Obviously the friendship suffered, but Audrey and Ian's lives remained entangled because of their relationship to the children. Now those kids are grown up and the older daughter Izzy is getting married in Vienna -- forcing Audrey and Ian to reconnect in the city that started everything. There are various wedding-related hijinks and mishaps, mainly having to do with the fact that Beau is nowhere to be found as the wedding approaches, and that Izzy's sister Mia was put in charge of wedding logistics... a challenge to which she did not really rise.
Audrey and Ian have plenty of insecurities and behavioral problems, but this was still a fun, sprawling family escapade with a sweet ending.

This book is about chaos, but not the bad kind. The one where friendships fizzle over time for no reason. This sounds like a funny rom-com, but in reality its about forgiveness, and how people still matter after they already have overplayed their roles in each other's lives. Ian and Audrey have an unbreakable bond. These two have been through the ringer, and they've proven time and time again, that they have a bond that can be mended. There isn't an easy way out through all their mistakes as friends, and not all the pieces gets glued back together, but they do try to eventually work things out. This book can be relatable to a lot of people and their friendship with others. The running humor can also be relatable. This isn't just a romcom, and I think that's just the side plot of this story.

I absolutely adored Audrey and Ian’s story. I felt it to be quite unconventional, which I loved as I’ve never seen a story like this out on shelves before. This book was incredibly emotional and cozy, and definitely had me hoping that there’s going to be a sequel after that crazy cliffhanger. 🥰🤞🏻

Such a fun read. I really loved this original rom com a lot. The writing is quirky and humorous and that makes the experience so much more entertaining.

This was definitely a weird book—and I don’t mean that in a bad way. The plot was quirky and unpredictable, the characters were eccentric, and at times I wasn’t sure where the story was going. Some moments felt confusing or over the top, but that strangeness was also part of its charm.
If you like books that are experimental, offbeat, or that push you out of your comfort zone, you might enjoy this one. Personally, it wasn’t entirely my style, but it kept me intrigued because it was so different from anything else I’ve read.

Twenty years after their friendship imploded, Audrey and Ian are back in Vienna--where they spent a year abroad for college and where they both fell in love with Beau, a charismatic Southerner who was also doing a year abroad--this time to celebrate the wedding of Audrey and Beau's daughter (and Ian's ex-stepdaughter). While they would rather continue ignoring each other's presence, they're thrust together because Beau is missing and they have to find him before the wedding starts. Can they get over their issues, find the missing father of the bride, and make sure the wedding goes off without a hitch?
This was a fun romp of a novel. Both Audrey and Ian are forced to confront all the issues that Beau has created between them and the issues they created (or allowed Beau to create) between them. Vienna becomes another character in the story, adding a sense of nostalgia for the characters while also adding to some of the obstacles that Audrey and Ian have to overcome. There were a few moments that felt a little too over the top (Georgia is a character that could've been dialed down a notch), but overall this is a great friendship love story.

Rachel Cohn and Melissa de la Cruz's My Ex-Husband’s Ex-Husband swept me away to Vienna—a city I’ve never visited, but one that came alive so vividly on the page that I felt like I was strolling its streets alongside Audrey and Ian. These two are the ultimate warring former best friends and exes: adorable, feisty, opinionated, and full of emotion, yet so vulnerable you can’t help but want them as your own friends. They’re witty, charming, often hilarious, and, frankly, impossible not to root for. Among the supporting cast, Damien, the steadfast and noble publishing agent, is instantly lovable, while Beau—missing in action throughout much of the book, but ever memorable—demands attention as if he’s the real star (and honestly, who’s going to argue?). On the flip side, Beau’s mother Georgia feels a little too much like the stereotypical Old Southern debutante, teetering on bigotry, and Beau himself plays into the spoiled trust-fund Southern socialite trope. Ian’s queerness is presented a bit on-the-nose, but it works—it’s quintessential Ian in the best way.
The novel shines in its dual journeys of self-discovery. Audrey rediscovers the passion and purpose she once had as a wide-eyed college student abroad, evolving into a successful businesswoman who inspires her daughters to forge their own paths. Ian, too, reevaluates what truly matters, embracing both personal and career changes while working toward reform in his industry. Cohn’s writing is clever and thoughtful, often delivering moments that resonate deeply—like Audrey’s wry internal plea: “Can it be my turn now for some frivolous fun? … I deserve to be a very, very bad girl for once.” Don’t we all? While some plot points get a bit muddled in the heat of the drama—particularly when the daughters are introduced without enough descriptive grounding—the humor more than compensates. I laughed out loud, sometimes to the point of tears.
This book is perfect for fans of rom-coms with a dash of mystery and zero gratuitous steam, making it a refreshing choice for readers who prefer wit and charm over explicit scenes. It’s an excellent pick for book clubs, thanks to its layered relationships and rich setting, and it works beautifully as a stand-alone without leaving you hanging. If rom-coms or chick-lit aren’t your thing, or you’re after something hot and heavy, this won’t be your cup of tea—but for everyone else, it’s a five-star delight. A fast, easy, and thoroughly entertaining read that brings levity and heart to even the messiest situations—read it today, you won’t be sorry.

My Ex-Husband’s Ex-Husband by Rachel Cohn and Melissa de la Cruz is an enjoyable entertaining read. On first glance the book description made me believe this book would be two best friends reuniting and searching for their ex husband in a more who done it mystery/thriller vibe plot.
Despite this not being the case, this book entailed second chances, forgiveness and lots of entertaining banter. I loved the alternating perspectives with the chapters flipping between Ian and Audrey. I also love the addition of Colin. Wish there was more included with him and Audrey!
This is an easy read and would definitely recommend if you are after a lighter book that will make you laugh.

The story felt predictable and unoriginal. The characters were difficult to relate to, and the plot lacked a much purpose. Despite featuring middle-aged protagonists, the tone came across as cliché and immature—more like a young adult novel trying, unsuccessfully, to pass as adult fiction.

I expected this book to be good, but not as excellent as it was. There's this air of strangeness that runs throughout this book. It's an experience that you have to read to understand.
It's strange.
It's different.
It's something I enjoyed.
Thank you NetGalley and the authors for the eARC.

Friends before they were ex's, this book plots the rediscovery of their friendship which didn't survive them marrying the same man.
This book is chaotic, surprising and not at what I expected going in. It's a messy binge-worthy read about relationships rather than the thriller I thought I was getting when Ian and Audrey set off to find the ex who has gone missing ahead of his daughter's wedding. A quick, easy read that has a conversational tone and some fun banter (if not a little petty) between the two friends. Loved the what if last epilogue. Solid 4-star read for me!

This was a fun read. I picked it up because of the title and although the content doesn’t exactly match, it was an interesting one. I’d recommend if you want a break from heavy reads and just want something lighthearted.
Two best friends marry the same guy at different points in their life. Lots of messiness😅
The characters are likeable and the banter between the two main characters was properly done.

*My Ex-Husband’s Ex-Husband* by Rachel Cohn and Melissa de la Cruz is a fresh, witty romp through love, reinvention, and unexpected connections. With sharp dialogue, vibrant characters, and a clever premise, this novel delivers equal parts heart and humor. It’s a smart, modern story about chosen family, second (and third) chances, and the messiness of relationships—all wrapped up in a breezy, binge-worthy package. A perfect pick for readers who love their drama with a dash of fun and a whole lot of heart.

This is my first time reading both authors; it will not be my last!
The title sucked me in, so I just knew I had to read this book and see what it was all about, and I was certainly not disappointed. I enjoyed the storyline as well as Audrey; she was such a strong character, and I loved her! I could not put this book down at all; I just had to know how this was all going to pan out.
The amount of banter between the characters was very fun to see, and I liked the fact that it was a very fast and easy read. I highly recommend this book as it was something I was not expecting at all, considering this probably wouldn't be a book that I would pick up.

I have never read a second chance friendship story before, which was very interesting and refreshing to read. I had to pick this up because I read Melissa de la Cruz’s work when I was a teen. The story flowed well, and the banter between Audrey and Ian was entertaining. These two would have been inseparable for life if they were honest with one another earlier in their friendship about Beau, their shared ex-husband. Overall, this was a fun read! Thank you to NetGalley, as well as Little A, for an advance copy of this book!

So, like, I thought this was going to be a zany mystery - a cosy for two nosy besties from the US. It. Was. Not. Not fun, not kind, not funny. There was enough alcohol to put a reader at risk of alcohol poisoning, more pregnancies than the Fast & Furious franchise, and our protagonists were selfish, not funny, and petty. Not worth your time.

This is not something I would typically pick up, as the description comes across as fluffy and a bit cheesy for my taste. However, I really enjoyed it, which serves as a reminder that I need to occasionally step outside my typical reading box. I am someone who tends to read things that are on the heavier side (thrillers, war-based historical fiction, mysteries), so the lightness of this book made for a palate cleanser for me. It reminded me that not all families are beyond fixing their problems and that sometimes you need a last-minute whirlwind trip across Austria to realize that life is pretty good.
It is a super quick and easy read. If you're looking for a Christmastime story, a quick read to finish your yearly goal, or something to fit in on holiday flights, this one is perfect for those.

Thank you to NetGalley and Little A for an ARC of this book. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.
What a clever and fun idea for a book - the title is exactly what it says it is - the relationship between two exes of the same, very gender fluid, very flaky, very handsome husband, Beau.
Audrey and Ian (the exes) were friends in college and through their study abroad in Vienna, which is where they find themselves to celebrate the wedding of Audrey & Beau’s oldest daughter, but Beau is nowhere to be found.
Between memories of their college days, the adventure of tracking down the missing Beau, and the stress of a wedding, Audrey and Ian are forced back together. Despite them being in their 40s, you can feel the youth in their memories and as someone in the age range, I couldn’t help but love the pop culture references. It’s a touching story of friendship and family and whether the way you remember things are actually the way they happened.
While I read it in the summer, this would make a great cozy read to celebrate the holidays in the winter as well.
