My Ex-Husband’s Ex-husband by Rachel Cohn and Melissa de la Cruz is set to be released on the 18th of November of 2025.

I had the absolute pleasure to ARC read this through Netgalley. The Genre is General adult fiction which seems accurate. Not normally a genre I pick to read but I’m glad I did.

It was a rather short story, with only 170 pages on my tablet: So, it’s a quick read.

Audrey and Ian used to be best friends when in college, they did a student abroad program where they had the opportunity to study in Vienna for a year. There’s where they met Beau, also an American from that same program. They hit it off right away, that’s when the duo became a trio and they hung out almost all the time.

Beau is Gender fluid which means he doesn’t label himself but also likes both male and female, which makes it difficult because both Audrey and Ian are head over heals for this southern gentleman. After a year in Vienna, they return to the colleges they attended before the exchange. Audrey and Ian go to the same one and Beau is at NYU. It isn’t long after they get back when Audrey drops a bombshell. ‘Ian, I’m pregnant!’. Beau drops out of college and asks Audrey to get marries. They later on get another daughter but the marriage doesn’t last.

Fast Forward.

Audrey’s oldest daughter Izzy is twenty-three years old and about to get married in Vienna. Seeing Ian after years of hating on him for marrying Beau after she got divorced. Making Ian a big part in her daughters live. Naturally he’s there for the wedding but Beau is AWOL. Not answering his phone, his apartment empty. Where is he?! Ian and Audrey’s quest is to find him and drag him to their daughter’s wedding. Surely, he wouldn’t want to miss it.

This quest to find Beau is filled with adventures, reliving memories they’ve made in Vienna when they were teenagers. But also, how good their friendship was when love ruined everything.

Will they find Beau? And what’s his excuse for falling of the face of the earth?

Find out on the 18th of November.

It was a nice read, I’m giving it ⭐⭐⭐⭐!

An excellent novel ripe with satirical elements that depicts the complexity of the modern family structure, as well as the necessity to grin and bear it when the going gets especially tough. I would recommend it to all literary fiction lovers out there.

this book is a fun, modern twist on love, divorce, and the chaos in between. it follows two very different ex-husbands who find themselves unexpectedly connected through their mutual ex and maybe even something more. the story has a lot of heart but also a ton of drama and humor. the writing is quick, witty, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. even though the title sounds wild (and yeah, the situation definitely is), the emotions in the book feel real and relatable — like dealing with heartbreak, figuring out identity, and learning to trust again.

the authors did a great job making each character unique and memorable. there’s great lgbtq+ representation, and it doesn’t feel forced — it just feels like life. also, the book shows that love doesn’t always follow the rules, and that’s okay.

if you like messy love stories with depth and laughs, this one’s a solid pick. not too heavy, not too cheesy — just the right balance.

I haven’t read a book by Melissa de la Cruz or Rachel Cohn since high school, but the second I saw this title, it absolutely yelled at me. I knew I needed to read it, and it did not disappoint.

This book is pure fun from start to finish. It’s a short, fast-paced, lighthearted, and genuinely hilarious story that delivers exactly what it promises. I read it in one sitting, and honestly, I didn’t want to put it down. Reading a “Christmasy” book in June gave it an extra layer of charm, like breaking the rules in the best possible way.

The plot is delightfully messy in the most entertaining way: Audrey and Ian were once best friends, until they both fell in love with (and married, and divorced) the same man. Fast-forward twenty-some years, and they’re reunited in Vienna, where it all began, on the eve of Audrey’s daughter’s wedding. There’s only one problem: the father of the bride is missing, and it’s up to Audrey and Ian to find him.

What unfolds is a witty, cocktail-soaked caper through a snow-dusted Vienna filled with old wounds, unexpected laughs, and the kind of friendship that never quite dies. The banter is razor-sharp, the situations are delightfully absurd, and the emotional payoff is surprisingly heartfelt. It’s not a romance, but it’s absolutely a love story of friendship, forgiveness, and what it means to grow up (eventually).

Melissa de la Cruz and Rachel Cohn have created something that feels both nostalgic and fresh. It reminded me why I loved their writing in high school, and why I still do now. If you’re looking for a smart, cozy, laugh-out-loud holiday romp—no matter the season—this book is a total gift.

This book was good it’s a book where you have to be open minded off the title alone lol but overall it was great I will read again from this author

(3.75 star review) While I greatly enjoyed the book, I had a hard time loving the character Ian. By the end Ian did have a tad of a redemption arc but for 3/4 of the book he seemed selfish and I couldn’t get over how he married his best friends ex husband. Even when his character became a tad more likeable I still couldn’t give over that. But overall it was a cute book, I just wish it didn’t end on a cliffhanger. But maybe that means there will be another book coming!

In regards to the writing style, I thought overall it was great. I do wish some characters were describe physically more in depth so I could picture them easier but overall I thought the writing style was beautiful and easy to read.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC.

My Ex-Husband's Ex-Husband was a fast-paced and lighthearted read. I found some parts of the storyline cliche and predictable, specifically the character arcs, but it was overall a great story! The whole way through I laughed at Ian's comments and rolled my eyes at Georgia's, related to Max's silent struggles, and felt sympathy for Audrey.

I did enjoy that the writing felt casual and "real"; the characters are written how actual people speak to each other. It made the characters feel a bit more relatable.

I found the format a bit hard to follow at some points. It was hard to tell when there was a time jump in the middle of a chapter. I also think using a different font for the texting conversations would've made it a lot clearer when those started and ended.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the ARC.

A super creative storyline that hooked me immediately. I loved the characters, and anything revolving around a wedding is a favorite of mine. The authors did a superb job of unfolding the drama and writing the banter between characters. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

The writing style garbs your interest and keeps it from page one. Add to that the most interesting mix of characters with ridiculously complicated links and back stories and you have the ingredients for a fast paced, fun read.

“My Ex-Husband's Ex-Husband” by Rachel Cohn and Melissa de la Cruz is a fast-paced, entertaining novel. Audrey and Ian, once best friends, both fell in love with the same man while studying abroad in Vienna during college. Now, they are back in Vienna for their daughter's/stepdaughter’s wedding, and their unfaithful ex is nowhere to be found.

The authors' collaboration features a dynamic narrative style, alternating between the perspectives of Audrey and Ian. The setting is glamorous, and the characters are well-educated and wealthy. The plot has a theatrical feel, with a sense of urgency as the wedding approaches.

One critique I have is that the pop culture references make the protagonists feel older than they actually are. Additionally, they come across as entitled and whiny. However, the book is enjoyable for its fun, adventure, and friendship, offering made-for-TV-level escapism rather than authenticity.

Thanks to Little A and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
