Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy of this novel!
You are not going to want to out this book down! I was instantly hooked and didn’t want to stop reading until the very last page. This novel is punctuated by dual POVs at times and short chapters, making it a quick read. I absolutely loved the unique premise behind this one, and am honestly not sure of what I would have done if I were the FMC. You will constantly be second guessing all of the characters as well as what you have read until the reveal at the end, which I enjoyed. I gave this one 4 stars because I did guess an element of the final twist, which made it less shocking to me. Ultimately though I recommend giving this one a read!

Jade and Wells seem like the perfect newlyweds—living in his glamorous grandmother’s estate while Jade writes a book about her Hollywood past. But things take a dark turn when Jade encounters Sylvie, Wells’ first wife, who lives in the guest house after a tragic accident left her unable to speak… or so everyone thought. When Sylvie suddenly delivers one chilling word—Run—the tension snaps. This twisty, atmospheric story kept me hooked, blending old Hollywood secrets with present-day suspense. A fast, entertaining read with just the right amount of creepiness. Good read!

Minka Kent’s The Silent Woman is a gripping and atmospheric thriller that pulls readers into a world of secrets, silence, and suspense. The story centers on Jade Westmore, a newlywed who moves into her husband’s estate—only to discover that his first wife, Sylvie, lives in a guesthouse on the property, mute and mentally impaired after a mysterious accident.
When Sylvie slips Jade a chilling note that reads “RUN,” the story takes off into a tense and twist-filled journey. As Jade begins to unravel the truth behind Sylvie’s condition and her husband’s past, she finds herself questioning everything she thought she knew.
Kent masterfully builds suspense through short, punchy chapters and a dual-timeline narrative that keeps the reader hooked. The setting—a secluded estate with a hidden past—adds a haunting, almost gothic quality to the story. Jade’s voice is clear and compelling, making her a relatable and engaging protagonist.
The Silent Woman is a fast-paced, binge-worthy read that blends psychological tension with emotional depth. It’s a standout in the domestic thriller genre and a must-read for fans of suspenseful, character-driven stories.

Requested this one based on the cover and was so glad to get a copy! I havent read much of this author before, but loved this one so now need to look at more of their backlist.

This thriller was pretty predicated, but I enjoyed the story and how it all came together in the end. It was a quick read with decent character development. I do wish I could see the Westmore house! Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC.

Ohhhhhh…this one was good! I had a good guess as to some of the mystery, but the hows and whys were pretty intriguing! Loved Jade and her determination to make sure to get to the bottom of what was going on!

Oh. em. gee. What did I just read?! I suddenly am skeptical of EVERYONE. Every time I thought I knew what happened, the story changed and I was left guessing all over again.
Jade, a writer, marries Wells, who she meets while doing research for her upcoming book. She moves into his home and quickly meets his ex-wife, Sylvie who lives in the guest house on the property. Sylvie cannot communicate with anyone since a terrible accident she had a few years prior. The interactions that Jade and Sylvie have go from harmless to terrifying as Jade digs more and more into Sylvie's accident with the help of her new neighbor and friend, Portia.
The Silent Woman is full of twists and turns. It was a quick and easy read that I devoured in one day.

I have read a few books from this author and really enjoyed them, so I was excited to read this one. This is a book that’s easy to get into, bingeable, and hard to put down. The unusual family dynamic, lies and secrets made this book very entertaining.

I received a complementary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the author and the publisher.
This one drew me in immediately. It was written in a way that was easy to read and follow and as story unfolded I was caught up in the mystery surrounding the woman living in the care takers cottage. Jade is a biography writer who writes about strong women from the past. She starts to unravel what's been going on in and behind the house she's just moved in to with her new husband. He was raised in this house by a famous starlet and has continued to live in it since her passing.
If you want to enjoy a quick mystery, with some interesting characters, this would be a good one for you.

The Silent Woman, written by Minka Kent, is a fictional mystery that follows newlywed author Jade Westmore. Jade met her husband Wells after he reads a biography she wrote, and he is interested in having her write a biography about his grandmother who raised him. It seems the perfect situation for Jade, she is able to live on the estate with her husband, and explore the history of his grandmother. But Jade may have signed up for more that she expected when it comes to her husbands first wife Sylvie, who still lives in the caretaker's cottage of the estate. Sylvie experienced an accident three years ago, and has been unable to communicate since. And although Wells has never expected Jade to help with Sylvie's care, when Wells is on a business trip there is an emergency that causes Jade to need to help. And this experience makes Jade question what she knows about Sylvie, and how she might find out more.
I really enjoyed this book, and the different characters. I liked seeing Jade's writing process as she learned about Well's family, and also appreciated the character development between Jade and her neighbor, mother-in-law, and Sylvie.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good mystery! Thank You to NetGalley and to the author and publisher of this book for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Minka Kent what have you done to me. wow. what a book. what a brilliant time. what a brilliant book. i sat down for this book and i didn't move until id finished. limbs went numb but that didn't bother me. we also had thunderstorms in our area this weekend and so i had had the best time with nothing else to do but read this book.
a dream life with a dream man. and now a dream house too. what could be better? well, for his first wife not to be in the guest house might be top of most people list.
years ago the original Mrs Wells suffered a life altering accident and the good Mr Wells felt it his obligation to then care for her. he also had hired her round the clock care. he's a hero right? with time of course it was time for him to move on, find a new love and now wife. as long as he can keep Jade away from the original Mrs Wells lives. so far so not complicated right? who would ever be the Jade in this situation though? really?
and as the guidelines of thrillers would have it of course our two woman ARE going to meet. except this wont be the soft, kind, non confronting type of meet. because this meeting will come from a one word warning on a piece of paper for Jade...
what you have next is just what we all come for when we want a good thriller. i wont spoil it. i'll leave those moments for you to come to fresh. it wont disappoint.
the way Minka writes means you sweep through her pages. and its not just shock value thrillers here either. its deep, emotional and at time a little sad. and somehow even a story line of this type feel almost realistic. the dual timeline is another addition that adds sense of depth and meaning to the story and whats happened to our characters. you then care more and feel more.

I’ve been a fan of Kent’s work for a while now. And every time I pick her books up I’m always sucked in.
The writing was really good, and the author did a good job bringing the reader into the story.
The mystery element of the story was engaging.
She painted very vivid picture. And the characters were captivating and drew me in.
Minka Kent has become one of my most favorite must read Authors!

This book was a winner! I love Minka Kent- -and this book was no exception! I can't wait to share this book with family and friends. It left me curious and wondering the whole time.

If you are looking for a thriller that keeps you hooked and wanting more after each page, this is the book for you! This novel puts an interesting twist on the mystery/thriller story, and I was not expecting the ending I got. 4 stars from me and I’m excited to read more from Kent!

Jade is the narrator in this book about coping in her new marriage and with her husbands ex. Sylvie, who lives on the grounds of their house. Sylvie was in a terrible accident and survived but she can’t function by herself and a set of nurses take care of her. The story is very interesting but I struggled to keep engaged in the story. It has plenty of twists and unreliable narrators but the book was a little slow paced for me.

You can never go wrong with this author! I have read a few of her other books so I was expecting this one to be a winner also and I certainly was right about that. Jade and Wells are newlyweds and seem to be very happy. They live on a huge estate and Sylvie , Wells ex wife lives in a small cottage on the estate. She was injured in a accident while she was married to Wells so he still takes care of her. She has nurses 24 hours a day because she can't communicate. Jade feels bad for her and wants to help with her care much to the dismay of her husband but he allows her to see her for short periods of time. This is when things really start to get interesting. Don't want to give anything away but this is definitely abook you won't be able to put down until you finish. Sooo good.
Thanks to Net Galley for allowing me to read this fantastic ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

One word. One secret. One perfectly manicured nightmare.
Listen, I devour thrillers like candy — and The Silent Woman? This one owned me.
From the first page, I knew I wasn’t just reading this story — I was being lured into it, just like Jade, the fresh-faced newlywed who thinks she’s finally found her happily ever after. A charming, successful husband. A dreamy estate. A picture-perfect life…
Except—behind the hedges, locked away in the caretaker’s cottage?
His first wife is still there.
Alive. Silent.
And watching.
The Silent Woman is...
Hitchcock in heels.
A slow-burn dread with razor-sharp teeth.
One of those books you cancel plans to finish — because the tension is that tight, the secrets are that dark, and the payoff is that damn good.
Minka Kent doesn’t just write thrillers — she writes obsessions.
The Silent Woman will haunt your TBR, hijack your weekend, and make you second-guess every perfect marriage you’ve ever seen.
5 stars

I very much enjoyed this thriller. I have been a fan of other Minka Kent books, and I was drawn in from the very beginning. I read it in almost one sitting because I just had to know what was going to happen next. My theories fluctuated throughout the book, and the twists had me second-guessing what I thought was going to happen. However, I cannot decide whether I loved the ending or hated it. To me, that is a sign of good writing, though. I would definitely recommend this to lovers of a twisty, easy-to-read thriller.

3.25⭐️
The Silent Woman was definitely a little slower and more predictable than some of her other books I’ve read. It definitely wasn’t bad, but I didn’t find myself as sucked into the plot as some of her others. I guessed the twists before they happened, and the plot wasn’t as original as her other books (it is along similar lines of books I’ve read by other authors), which took some of the thrill out of the reading experience. Even though this wasn’t my favorite, I will still read any Minka Kent book. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest review.

This was such an engaging read! It kept me hooked from the beginning. The dream husband, the dream house, the disabled ex wife who still lives on the property. What could go wrong? I do enjoy Minka Kent’s writing style and this book is a solid thriller! Thank you to net Galley for the ARC read!
