I read this late last night when I went to request it as an ARC but it automatically loaded! SCORE.
I love a good domestic thriller. The description is what got me. Well the last sentence of the description. Fast paced, although some was predictable I really appreciated the other that wasn’t for me. Well done

This thriller/mystery hooked me from the start with questions I just needed to know the answers to. The drama mixed with a creeping suspense kept me engaged. The writing flowed well with characters full of secrets I wanted to unravel. I liked that we got both Sylvie and Jade’s perspectives. Ultimately, this had various twists I didn’t see coming. Definitely recommend for a summer thriller!
Thank you Netgalley for this e-arc.

The Silent Woman by Minka Kent is a tantalizing mix of mystery and psychological drama that had me hooked right from the start. Jade Westmore’s journey into her new life with charming Wells feels promising, until the shadow of Sylvie—the silent, fragile first wife—casts a darker tone over everything. Kent builds an eerie atmosphere perfectly suited for a tale full of secrets, whispers, and hidden truths. The discovery of the torn notebook paper with the word "Run" definitely kicks things up a notch, leaving readers eager to unravel what’s really going on behind the estate’s gates. However, the story takes a bit of a nosedive as some plot twists feel a tad forced, and the characters’ decisions at times stretch believability. I appreciated the slow build-up and the creeping sense of paranoia, but ultimately, the story wraps up in a way that's satisfyingly creepy but slightly underwhelming after all the suspense. If you enjoy psychological mysteries with a dash of gothic flair and don’t mind a few predictabilities, this book will keep you entertained. But don’t expect everything to be tied up perfectly—some questions are left lingering, which might just be part of the charm for fans of the genre. Overall, an engaging read that’s worth a peek, even if it doesn’t quite reach the heights of a five-star thriller.

This is an excellent book by Kent. It was easy to read and the storyline was interesting to follow. If you like Minka Kent or the thriller/suspense genres, give this one a try!

The Silent Woman has a plot that’s been done over and over and way too many times where new wife realizes husband is too good to be true and not to be trusted. The characters felt shallow, the writing so so, and I’m glad it was short so I could finish and put it aside.

I’m really loving this author's books lately. I can finish them in a few days because they are such page-turners. The only reason this isn’t a five-star rating for me is because of the predictability aspect. The story was good, and the characters were great, but I knew exactly where this was headed from page one. Not to say I didn’t enjoy it because it was a really good read. A new wife, a wife “severally injured” and unable to communicate while living in the back house... Its a good vibe for sure😂
