Wolf and Tiffany are two very interesting characters, both determined to live life without love, yet for very different reasons. I enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom and, with it, the realisation that their façade hid greater depth. There is plenty of intrigue and action intertwined with their romance, making for a very fast-paced story. There was also the added bonus of a prequel called ‘Miss Serena Wakes Up,’ which follows Lord Julian Montague and Miss Serena Fancot, who have been friends since childhood. Julian has always been in love with Serena, but she discovers her feelings only when other women start to show an interest in Julian. Both books were delightful. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is the first full-length entry into what is going to be a multi-book series, and it reads a bit as such. FMC Tiffany is a cousin to a duke who secretly invests on behalf of herself and a number of her friends. MMC Slade, Marquess of Deveraux, and dear friend of her cousin stumbles onto her secret and for a rather inexplicable reason uses the knowledge to coerce Tiffany into a fake courtship and engagement. Tiffany and Deveraux are both fine as individuals and as a couple, but as I said, this book feels like it is equally focused on setting up the general backstory for the series as it is on the relationship developing between the two. Overall, this is an easy read, one which would be great in a poolside or beach setting. I would not term it overly intriguing or a can't put it down read, but I will probably still check out at least the next book in the series.

3 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for a complimentary copy of this book. These opinions are my own.

The only thing I didn't like about this book was the prequel being thrown in, it made it very confusing at first.. It should have been done separately in another book but it was a good story as well other than that as usual Bronwen Evans delivered an amazing story yet again!

Tiffany and Wolf are two different people she's a bluestocking who is invisible to everyone of the ton and he is the man every woman of the ton wants to be with.. she is smart with numbers and investments and he is struggling to make sense of the stock market to understand what are the best investments..

Despite the differences, the sparks and the connection they feel for each other is undeniable no matter how much they try to fight it.. and when a challenge is thrown their way they face it together head on alongside their friends and family..

I definitely can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Tiffany, unbeknown to anyone, has been investing her pin money and has amassed quite a sum. She hopes to have enough to be financially independent. She has no need for a husband. Wolf, whom she has been attracted to for years, feels no need for a wife. He tried that with a previous fiancee whom he could not protect from harm. When he starts to have feelings for Tiffany, he feels he can have a loveless marriage while taking advantage of her financial expertise. Tiffany, however, will not marry someone who does not love her back.

Included a novella about Serena and her best friend Justin getting together. This was cute.

The main story was chaotic. Part way through I had to pause to note all the sub plots and characters because I was getting confused about who was who and what was driving the main plot vs. a side story that would turn up in another book. A series starter has a lot to do if the plan is for a 7-ish book series (my guess based on the number of ladies). Too many characters were on the page with information on their backstory to set up their books. It became more of a distraction than getting me interested and hooked into the series.

CW: kind of a spoiler, but we know right away something awful happened with Wolf’s first engagement. Off page Wolf and his first fiance are attacked and his fiance is raped. Wolf hears all of it and isn’t able to stop it or find the attackers later. When she finds out she’s pregnant from the rape she commits suicide on their wedding day. It’s super tragic and sad.

The book starts off with a Bonus Prequel involving Miss Serena Fancot and Lord Julian Montague who have been friends since they were five years of age. What follows is a lively fun story of discovery between friends now adults and the setup for the beginning of Miss Tiffany Has A Secret.

Author Bronwen Evans’ begins the Prologue when Tiffany is fifteen years old and two weeks after the death of her parents. It introduces the meeting between Slade Ware, Marquess of Wolfarth, who is her cousin’s best friend, and her.

Six years later Tifanny has grown up and made many friends though she is a bluestocking with a secret. This storyline is full of strong and exciting female characters. Each with their own fully developed personalities and story. They come together as friends, helping to create a fun entertaining storyline. The reader will get to experience a little of each of the woman which I am hoping will each have their own book to this series.

This is a great story that is not only entertaining but well written. I give it 5 STARS.

Entertaining Regency Romance with a Dash of Mystery and Suspense
She’s a brilliant investor in disguise. He’s a marquess in desperate need of financial stability. When Wolf proposes a marriage of convenience, love is never supposed to be part of the bargain. After all, a tragedy in his past has left him determined never to love again. But matters of the heart rarely follow logic.
Tiffany, however, won’t settle for anything less than love. As danger closes in and secrets surface, both must confront more than just their feelings. As Sherlock Holmes might say, treachery is afoot—and survival may require more than either of them expected.
This was a delightful Regency romance with a clever heroine, a wounded hero, and a compelling blend of mystery and suspense. I especially enjoyed the unexpected twists and emotional depth. This is a highly enjoyable read for fans of marriage-of-convenience stories with a touch of intrigue.

I liked the heroine. Tiffany is trying to get financial independance. The hero has realised that he's not as brilliant at investments as his younger brother or like Tiffany. They agree a fake match that will help both out. Slade realises that there's a villain afoot and as well as trying to win a wager that's been secretly set by Tiffany he wants to protect her.

Good start to a series.

I liked this book though it’s not my typical type of reads.
It discusses women empowerment in the past and struggles faced to overcome the barriers of the society and how they used to seek financial independence.
Also, we see a love story between the orphaned lady - Tiffany and her cousin’s best friend- Wolf.
It was an overall light and quick read which I enjoyed, but I don’t think that I’ll read the other books in this series.

Miss Tiffany Deveraux is an orphaned bluestocking with a knack for investing. When her friends find out she uses her pin money to invest, and gets a considerable amount in return, they all want to become financially independent. When her stock jabber turns out to be a thief, all of their money is at risk.

Slade Ware "Wolf" is the Marquess of Wolfarth and has great luck with investing. However, does not have the same luck when it comes to love. After his previous fiance dies, Wolf believes he can never love again. When he learns of Tiffany's hidden talent, he proposes a match. She can help create financial stability and she earns that protection and status of his name. Tiffany objects, wanting to marry for love, but as Wolf continues to court her, feelings emerge and maybe Wolf can learn to love again.

This was an ARC I was granted from Dragonblade Publishing. This was previously published as, A Lady Never Surrenders. I had high hopes for this because I love regency romances and the whole Bridgerton vibe. The first part of this story was about a completely different character, named Serena who really has nothing to do with the rest of the story. I'm not sure why this was included-maybe I'm missing the point; but it definitely could have been it's own story. Tiffany and Wolf's story I enjoyed, the pacing is the biggest problem I had with this story. The ending also leaves it open for the rest of the friend group. I like that it will be an interconnected series. I think this is a good starter book for historical romances and it was a quick read.

When Slade Ware, Marquess of Wolfarth, realises that Miss Tiffany Deveraux is more than just a bluestocking but a financial genius, he is instantly intrigued. Society sees a penniless, unremarkable girl under the Earl of Marlowe’s care, but he is captivated and suggests a marriage of convenience. Yet Tiffany wants to keep her arrangement as it is, living under her cousin’s care after the death of her parents. Her ability to truly understand business has led to her developing a significant fortune. Yet the more time that Wolf and Tiffany spend together, the more that she begins to realise that there is more to life than her finances and that he might be the person to give her true freedom.

It's a two-fer...

In the short story that leads to Miss Tiffany, we get a sweet short story of Serena and Julian. Julian has been in love with his best friend since they were kids, but he is waiting for the right time to tell her of his feelings. Serena is politically minded and frustrated that she has no voice in politics. He is a politician living the life she would like to lead.
Recommend.

In Miss Tiffany, Tiffany had hoped to marry for love. Quietly, she's turned her pin money into a modest fortune with her investing genius. She, for some reason is considered a wallflower as she needs to wear glasses. Instead, she agrees to an arrangement with Slade, a marquess who refuses to love again after his fiancée. She was outed of her investing genius and Slade makes her a practical offer, love not included. The irony is that dumb men think Slade is an investing genius when in reality, its Tiffany with the real smarts.
Recommend.

New series started that is captivating, intriguing and redemptive. Tiffany is an orphan with a unique talent for making wise profitable investments. Determined to help her friends, gain independence and stay out of the ton's evil glare she manages just fine until a disaster takes place. Wolf, who has lost his fiancee and his apparent luck makes her a proposition. Together they find the redeeming qualities and beauty in each other. A lovely tale.

There are two love stories in this book. Firstly, Miss Serena Wakes Up, in which politically minded Serena finally comes to her senses when she commits the unforgivable act that puts her best friend's future in jeopardy. Lord Julian has loved Serena for almost as long as he has known her, but it takes her daring confession to make both of them realize that it's time to face up to the truth that everyone else seems to realize. This short story is an entrée that leads naturally into the main course, namely Miss Tiffany Has a Secret.

Left orphaned after the death of her parents, Tiffany has too much pride to allow her relatives to cover all the costs of her keep and quietly goes about investing her pin money to build her own nest egg. Short-sighted and needing to wear spectacles, Tiffany does not hold out much hope for a good marriage, and rather than trust her cousin to choose a husband for her, she determines to chart her own course. An unexpected encounter with the Marquess of Wolfarth when meeting with her stockjobber, Mr Sprat, Tiffany enters into a wager with Wolf, which results in her becoming the object of his desires. Unfortunately, Wolf is laboring under a plethora of guilt resulting from his previous fiancée's death, and it takes all of Tiffany's courage to stand up to him. As the mystery surrounding missing funds is unravelled, Wolf slowly lets go of his reservations about falling in love as the lovely wallflower captures both his creativity and his heart, bringing the novel to a lovely conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Pleasant, easy to read writing style. Bordered on feeling too simple at times. I confess to being bored and skimming much of the latter half but I still see potential here. The characters and dialogue just needed a little something else to elevate and keep me interested.

What lovely stories! Serena's story is so good, but Tiffany's is even better. All of the characters are so well developed. I love how strong each of the women are. Wolf is such a delightful man, but he has some fears. I enjoyed how Tiffany challenges his traditional thinking. These stories are keepers to be reread!

Tiffany Devereaux, orphaned ward/cousin to Fane Devereaux, Earl of Marlowe. Her parents were killed by highway men in a robbery.
Slade Ware, Marquess of Lord Wolfarth, his fiancée was brutally attacked by highway men. he closes himself off to love when she dies.

Tiffany and Wolf come together in friendship, gain each others trust and fall in love. A financial bluestocking who blossoms under the love of the one man she thought she could never have., Wolf A beautiful series centered around a group of close friends who vow to marry for love. They stick together, remind each other how special and wonderful each is in their own way. They don't want each other to settle, for anything less than love. This book has everything: love, romance, intrigue and murder. It was a very unexpected, in a great way. This is a great beginning to this series and I am excited to see what happens with each lady and lord. How they will come together with the support of friends. It's all about the unexpected but well deserved love match. Great job of setting up additional series with couples, details and continuing wager in White's Betting Book.

Tropes include: secret crush, best friend's ward, marriage of convenience, hidden beauty, bluestocking.

Miss Tiffany Deveraux lost her parents in a tragic carriage accident at the tender age of 17. She moves in with the Earl of Marlowe, placed under his protection, Tiffany fiercely values her independence and doubts she will ever marry. Since this is her intentions, having learned the art of investing from her father, she quietly continues to invest increasing her nest egg. to secure her independence when the time is right.

Tiffany dreams of marrying for love, if at all, refusing to be coerced into a match for security. Her financial acumen doesn’t just benefit her; her close-knit group of friends, known as the Sisterhood, entrust her to invest on their behalf to fund their aspirations. Their secret investments are risky—not financially, but socially—as society would frown upon ladies engaging in such pursuits, threatening their reputations if discovered. This delicate balance is threatened when Slade Ware, Marquess of Wolfarth—known simply as Wolf—accidentally spots Tiffany visiting her stockjobber, igniting concerns of a scandal.

Wolf, celebrated in the ton for his seemingly golden touch in investments, harbors a secret: his success is more luck than skill, and that luck is fading. Learning of Tiffany’s hidden talent and growing fortune, he proposes a marriage of convenience—she gains protection, and he gains financial stability. It’s meant to be pragmatic, devoid of emotion. But matters of the heart rarely adhere to logic.

Watching Wolf and Tiffany’s relationship blossom is a delight. Wolf, still reeling from the events surrounding the death of his late fiancée, remains oblivious to Tiffany’s growing affection for him, as she refuses to accept anything less than his whole heart. Drawn to her wit, intelligence, and understated beauty, Wolf finds himself captivated. Tiffany, in turn, is both puzzled and intrigued by his attention. When she faces a crisis with her investments, she turns to Wolf for support, drawing them closer and forcing Wolf to confront his true feelings. Tiffany’s warmth and compassion slowly dismantle his emotional barriers, revealing a tender, passionate man beneath his stoic exterior.

Their chemistry is palpable, their banter charming, and their connection undeniably authentic. I loved that Tiffany was determined to know why Wolf wants to marry her and makes him face his feelings for her. A particularly poignant moment is when Wolf paints a portrait of Tiffany, revealing through art how deeply he sees and cherishes her, a touching milestone in their journey and eye opening for Tiffany.

The narrative weaves in a thread of mystery and danger as Tiffany uncovers unsettling truths about her stockjobber. Wolf’s protectiveness shines as he uncovers links between their pasts and fights to keep Tiffany safe. His unwavering determination and caring nature become evident as he aids in recovering her funds. The final confrontation is intense, stirring Wolf’s deepest fears, but it ultimately strengthens their bond. Tiffany’s steadfast nature ensures Wolf doesn’t retreat into old habits, reinforcing their growth as individuals and as a couple.

When Wolf finally confesses his love, it’s heartfelt and utterly romantic. Tiffany, once a shy bluestocking hiding her true self, blossoms under Wolf’s unwavering affection. Their journey is a beautiful testament to love, resilience, and self-discovery. A truly captivating story that intertwines emotions, romance and intrigue with perfection. Bravo to the author for creating a tale that doesn’t just tell a story but makes you feel every heartbeat of it.

Miss Serena Wakes Up (bonus prequel)

I adored Julian and Serena romance. journey. This friends to lovers story was fun, engaging, and just perfect. I loved when the relation hits Serena that she feels more for Julian than friendship and Julian and everyone in their immediate circle knew they were meant for each other.

This was my first book by Bronwen Evans and the writing is excellent!
I loved Tiffany. She was a SMART, strong, beautiful person who was a really good friend too. I would have loved to have an investment group like she had with her close friends.
I didn't care for Wolf, unfortunately. The way he kept going on about her glasses and how she supposedly was so much prettier without them. He was always coercing her to not wear them even though she told him she couldn't see without them.
Thank you to Dragonblade for the copy of this book. Opinions are my own.
