2.5* rounded up
I really wanted to enjoy this. However, it all kind of fell flat for me. This was an incredibly slow burn, and unfortunately, the ending felt super underwhelming, and I was left feeling disappointed. I did appreciate the FMC's determination to bring a light to those victims whom no one cared about or were paying attention to. She was a champion for those girls 100%
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC opportunity.

This book, unfortunately, was not a great fit for me. The premise is really interesting. A reporter goes undercover as a stripper to solve a crime, which immediately caught my attention. I went in expecting a thriller, but it felt much more like a mystery. Most of the suspense came through flashbacks, which made the pacing feel off.
I also struggled with the tone. The language was more vulgar than I expected, and the main character often had overly sexual thoughts that felt out of place. What stood out the most, though, was the frequent use of “fatty” as an insult. It felt unnecessary and pulled me out of the story.
I think the idea behind this book has a lot of potential, but the execution didn’t work for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
