A book that kept me hooked until the end. Good characters that got me rooting for new loves and old loves and then shocked me to my core.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Jesse comes home to sell her father’s bar. He, his wife and stepdaughter had all disappeared years ago. . Lots of mysterious things keep happening around the bar and someone was breaking in. I’m not sure why she went to bed knowing this. I for sure would have had the locks changed. The ending and bad guy definitely surprised me.

Nine years ago, Jesse Hudson left Canton, Missouri after her father disappeared. Her dad owned and ran a bar called the Tap Room. He married Victoria who had a daughter, Teagan, who was a couple of years younger than Jesse. A couple of years later, Victoria and Teagan disappear and Jesse’s dad Mac is arrested for their murder. When the charges are finally dropped and he is let out of prison, he never makes it home. Now Jesse is back to declare her father dead and to sell the bar. The bar needs a little work so she hires an old friend to do the work. Jesse also is trying to figure out what happened the night Victoria left and then when her dad didn’t come home. Strange things are happening and someone is trying to scare her out of town. When the pieces start falling in place, Jesse is knocked out and put in a boathouse and she’s about to learn everything. I honestly almost stopped reading this book. I’m not a fan of stories that have only one point of view. But I had to find out what happened. So I kept reading. I was shocked at the villain. Didn’t care for the ending. There is no happily ever after. No steam. Secrets and Mystery. * VOLUNTARILY READ AND REVIEWED FOR NETGALLEY *
