It starts off strong with the storyline involving her stepmother and father, but the middle loses some momentum and certain plot points don’t flow as smoothly as they could. The ending delivers a decent twist, though it doesn’t feel fully satisfying.

I knew it! Ok… I knew SOME of it! This town reminded me of a dark and twisted Stars Hollow and I ate it up. Jesse is such a strong FMC and I really enjoyed her story.
Thank you to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Jesse has a burning need to find out why her father disappeared almost 10 years ago just after he was accused in her stepmother and stepsister's disappearances. She heads back to her hometown with its old friends and old secrets to sell her dad's bar and move on. What should have been a quick trip turned into days of looking into her past and working to find out the truth.
Very good book, I was interested in what happened to Jesse's family and how she ended up alone. There are a couple of good twists in the story too that readers may not see coming. Enjoyable read!

I hadn't read an Alexandra Ivy book in a while. Why? Too many books, too little time. But with this book, Ms. Ivy has reminded me why I have enjoyed all her books.
I had goosebumps at certain points in the book because I was so drawn into the characters and the mysteries central to the plot. Yes, you read that correctly, mysteries!
And, like the master of her craft that she is, Ms. Ivy slowly peels away layer after layer after layer until all the answers -- those you expected and those you had no idea were coming -- lie revealed.
I promise, there won't be as long of a gap until I read my next Alexandra Ivy book.

I love Alexandra Ivy's books! This one was a great suspense full of family secrets with a touch of romance. Jesse goes back to her hometown after running away 9 years ago. She wants to have her father declared dead and fix up the bar he owned so she can sell it. Most of all she wants to find out what really happened to her father. Her step mother and step sister disappeared one night after a fight with her father. They tried to charge him with there murder but the charges were dropped and he was released. He disappeared that night he never came home from the courthouse he just vanished!! When Jesse came back to town she discovered that her stepmother was using a fake name and after that, one by one the secrets of the past start to unravel! Someone in town wants her to leave and she realizes that she's in serious danger! I was definitely on the edge of my seat reading this I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! As this story twists and turns you wonder if Jesse really knew anyone in her past. I love her character she is,strong and independent if a bit naive, she gets knocked down but gets right back up fighting and digging for the truth! This is definitely a must read for your tbr pile! If you love romantic thriller you will love this book! I want to thank Netgalley and Kensington publishing for the advanced copy Arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was an ok mystery with an ok ending. The main character was a bit annoying. I was surprised by the murderer and the twist at the end. But overall this was just an ok read.

Jesse has gone back to her hometown to sell her Fathers bar. The trip is very emotional for her. Her Father was accused of murdering his wife and her daughter, but in the end was released. The day he was released he disappeared and now years later she has to face the fact he is probably dead. The book is full of suspense with a surprise twist at the end of the book. I didn’t understand some of the decisions the main character made but I still enjoyed the book. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

If you love romance with a side of major suspense and family secrets, you HAVE to read this.
Jesse comes back to her creepy hometown after her dad and stepmom vanished years ago, and she just wants to sell his bar. But then she finds out her stepmom was living under a fake name?! 🤯
The twists just keep coming! Someone in that town is out for revenge, and Jesse is in serious danger. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, trying to figure out who was lying and what really happened. The suspense was chef's kiss and the ending? You won't see it coming! Seriously, add this to your TBR, like, now!

This was a twisty and fun read. I was engaged and hooked the entire time. I don’t want to get into specifics and spoil the book so I’ll just say go read it! It’s definitely a unputdownable page-turner!

Not my favorite by Alexandra Ivy. It had so much potential but just never hit that 5 star level.
Thank you #netgalley and #kensington for the eARC.

She’s Going to Pay
By: Alexandra Ivy
Why in the world wouldn’t you get your locks changed?? This was my recurring thought throughout most of this book.
The story had potential and kept a nice who-dunnit vibe throughout. I found myself skimming a bit though, as we kept getting our heroines thoughts about the SAME things and our heroine seemed way TOO naive and trusting considering all that has happened in her life. For as much as she figured out with the various mysterious events she was way too dumb with other things….like Changing the Locks!
The story was a bit of a downer and there is no HEA….for anyone.

you’ve going to pay!!! did she make them pay now that’s something you have to read for yourself but AnyWho this book was very good. Exciting the twist of the female character. She was a bit naïve not so smart but again we all go through things and we gain no stress again, so you have to see the book for the end it was good thank you

She’s Going to Pay by Alexandra Ivy was such a fun and twisty ride! It’s the kind of book that pulls you in to a small town mystery with buried secrets and messy family drama. The story starts with Jesse coming back to her hometown to sell off her missing dad’s old bar. It should’ve been a quick in and out situation, but of course, the past doesn’t stay buried. What starts as a simple real estate errand spirals into this dark and tangled web of missing persons, fake identities, and long brewing revenge. I was immediately hooked! Jesse is scrappy and stubborn in all the right ways. She’s been running from her past for years, and you really feel her frustration as she’s forced to revisit old wounds. The more she digs, the more you start wondering if anyone in her life has ever told her the truth. It’s one of those stories where every time you think you’ve figured something out, there’s another twist waiting, and I loved it! It’s fast paced and super readable. If you like domestic thrillers with strong female leads and secrets that just keep spiraling, add this one to your TBR!

When Jesse's dad is accused of having something to do with the disappearance of his wife and stepdaughter Jesse is his biggest defender. when her dad goes missing without a trace Jesse isn't sure what to think. Leaving town and not returning until 9 years later when she and her boyfriend decide to open their own bar Jesse must return home to finally declare her father dead and to sell her dad's bar. Someone does not want Jesse back in Canton and will do anything to get her to leave.

Jesse's father Mac disappeared after he was accused of possibly murdering Jesse's stepmother and stepsister. When Jesse comes back to her hometown to declare her father dead so she can sell the family bar she decides to look into what really happened to all three. Was her stepmom and stepsister murdered? or did they stage their disappearance so they can start a new life? Why did Mac disappear because somebody killed him or is he on the run? So many questions that Jesse needs to answer to move on to start a new life. This was such an intriguing book from the very start you get so involved in the mystery! I would definitely recommend reading ! The writing in this book also kept me flipping the pages! Read this book . I 'm a new fan of Alexandra Ivy !

Loved reading the exciting and engaging story. When Jesse comes back to town to get her father's bar ready to sell, someone doesn't want her back in town, and Jesse wants to find out what happened to her dad. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full of mystery and suspense, and a must read riveting story by the phenomenal author, Alexandra Ivy.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it had that tension and enjoyed the overall feel of this world and the characters that lived there. It was everything that I was wanting and enjoyed the overall feel of this. It was suspenseful and worked with the suspense and romance going on. Alexandra Ivy has a strong writing style and was glad it was everything that I wanted and enjoyed in this. It made me guess what was going on and how the storyline worked together.

She's Going to Pay is a story that will keep your interest until the very end. It moves quickly and ended up being a one sitting read for me. There are twists and turns but there are also clues sprinkled throughout so if you're paying attention, you'll likely figure out some of the twists. Doesn't make it any less enjoyable though! My only issue was the FMC. I found her to come across as really naive and seriously questioned some of her decision making skills!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Jesse left her small town when her father was accused of killing his wife and stepdaughter, he was exonerated but vanished soon after. Over ten years later she’s ready for a new start and wants to buy a nightclub with her boyfriend. She needs money and for that she needs to go back to Canton and sell her dad’s bar. Because secrets never really die in small towns, she discovers that her stepmother may not have been who she said she was and might have something to do with her dad’s disappearing.
I’m gonna be honest, Jesse was a tough sell for me, especially since we only get her POV. She’s very naive and trusting for someone who’s been through so much, maybe it’s a small town thing. While I did enjoy the ride, I found the whole story a bit ridiculous (even by thriller’s standards) and the characters not very believable.

This was a fun ride but it just didn't fully consume me like I wish it would've. It managed to keep me hooked and intrigued but it was just missing that shock factor for me.
